totally understand why this place is rated so highly. the bartenders were so friendly with great atmosphere. however, this place can get a little bit noisy and packed. it was my first time here and despite being so busy, the bartenders took their time to give their recommendations! would definitely come back.

review: down the stairs and behind a fire emergency door is a speakeasy bar full of character. baxter inn prides itself for having the widest range of whiskey selection in town. the whiskey menu itself was almost 30 pages, with every single type of whiskey you can possibly think of. i can also attest that the fresh and air cocktails were excellent, not diluted or too sweet and refreshing for a great summer day.

the waiters are very friendly and who clearly know their stuff, so always ask for recommendations. the complimentary pretzels were also an added bonus. can’t come here everyday as cocktails cost $20-$30 each. but every now and then, one should indulge in good cocktails and enjoy jazz music in a place like this.

the bar food is good. and the range of choice is a lot. a good place to have a date night or some catchup although the place is not that easy to find lol!

the bar has a great collection of scotch & japanese whiskey. the cocktails are absolutely great netflix and swill being my favorite. the ambiance and bartenders are something special. feels a little bit like going back in time. if you are after that rare whiskey that you have always wanted to try and yet can't find. this is the spot for you. the place usually starts filling up after 9.30

super busy and noisy on a saturday night, which wasn't helped by the long queue outside. despite the good service by the bartenders (once you get their attention), and the interesting decor, it's a little overhyped...one feels that they'd have a better time if they came on a weeknight, or if the bar capacity was reduced by at least a dozen or two. the long list of whiskeys and drinks can't be perused without being elbowed by passing people, and it's hard to hear the bartender's recommendations etc...

my favourite whiskey bar in sydney, the vibe downstairs is very cool and private.

my favourite is the experience of the bartenders if you are nice and willing to buy a few decent glasses of the good stuff they will take you into a private room and walk you through it.

this is just a great spot it's not funny. it does get super busy on a friday, but i love the vibe, the buzz, the ambiance...and of course, the drinks! also, it's just downright cool leading your visiting friends down to this otherwise "hidden" little spot :)

hands down the best bar in the city. even if one is not a whisky lover, the range of beers on tap or the wines would suffice any discerning customer.

the dim candle lit ambience and the jazz music adds an american twist to the vibe.
was the first watering hole i visited when i landed to the country and it had set a very high standard for the rest.

highly over-rated hipster bar.

if you love drinking obscure whiskys served by bearded hipsters in aprons, then this is the place for you. very long (slow moving) lines on friday nights and weekends. there is some quite nice ambiance in the booths, but zero chance of getting one when they are busy

as a huge fan of whiskey this place was so nice to find. super cute decorations and a fun atmosphere; absolutely love the vibe here. it can get really busy so if you're after a table, my tip is to get here early

this is my kind of bar service was awsome drinks high quality the experience overall was like being in a bar 100 years ago loved it however you do pay for what you get a little on the high price side of things but who cares when your chilling we will be going back see you soon baxter inn

great place, needs an effort in locating the venue but once you go down the basement and open the door, it takes you back in time with the ambience. the music is nice too, i am usually big on whiskeys but here i prefer having whisky cocktails, i always ask the staff to make me something new and they never disappoint. we usually go there to celebrate an occasion. the pizzas that they order for you are very good too but the main thing about this place is the whisky. i just look and the list and go vow! one of the best bars in sydney if you ask me. my recommendation is the whisky sours.
