this is agreatplace. the chili is "old school," no beans in it. spicy up to 5 stars (!) and i particularly like their hot dogs and chili dogs. they also havegreatentrees, like huge plates of enchiladas. staff is professional, a bit gruff, but fun! near the capitol building, when the legislature is in session there are lines out the door at lunch time.

great chili for agreatprice. made me cry a little with heat on the habanero chili. habanero, white, and their “famous” chili are all pretty great. while you’re there pick up an austin amber beer made here in austin, tx.

the best. huge portions, good prices (a meal is easily 2), and amazing vegetarian chili. dont worry about bringing a vegetarian here, there are so manygreatthings to eat. i wish i could come here all the time.

great surprise. my boyfriend and i stumbled upon this place when we were starving after checking out the capitol. best decision ever.
i actually used the urbanspoon app and we decided on this place. it's a quirky little place and has big time flavor with its food.
my boyfriend got the venison chili, which was awesome.greatheartiness and gaminess to it and the raw onions topped it off perfectly.
i had the chicken enchiladas and a small tasting portion of the mild chili. both were excellent. the chili wasgreatand i wished i had gotten a full portion of it instead of the chicken haha.
clearly the chili is the star here and it is super good. don't be fooled by the appearance of it outside, it might look a little shabby but the food packs a ton of flavor for sure.

chili mac n cheese with brisket!. i visit austin frequently and always go to texas chili parlor. it's right by ut. they put brisket in pretty much anything. i got the chili macaroni and cheese with the most tender and flavorful brisket i've ever had. my friend got the gumbo and it was awesome too, a little bit too spicy though.
a must try if you're in the austin area!
it is a hole in the wall bar that you wouldn't think would have good food. i rarely drink when i go there. i just eat thegreatfood.

delicious!. loved the comfortable feel of this place. went with a group of 5, we all loved our food.greatselection of mexican related dishes, as well as burgers etc. made me want to move to austin!

in all my time living in austin, i had never been to the texas chili parlor. they are supposed to have one of the hottest bowls of chili in town, so we decided to go their to satisfy my need for heat. i enjoyed the meal completely, from the laid back vibe to the friendly waitresses, but am sad to say that i did not find the chili particularly spicy. the waitress was incredibly impressed that i was eating the xxx without flinching, perhaps it just wasn't that spicy of a batch that day? regardless, it was still agreatmeal. 0 comments:

one of my favorite places in austin. fun placeto go,greatfood, nice people. and my dad proposed to my mom there in 1984. look for the plaque on the wall :)

one of my favourite places in austin! soooo good,greatprice. dimly lit and with the feel of your local hideout it's chili is amazing. i'm a huge fan of the habeñero chili with a house margarita on the rocks. laid back with nice staff.greathangout!
