terry's cafe

on the actual day of nibs' birthday we went to her local fave on great suffolk street. terry's is a family run cafe, now headed up by austin, son of terry. their breakfasts are pretty epic and we had the whole restaurant for the evening. they were offering a variety of pies or toad in the hole all served with mash and veg. nice home cooked food and really sweet service. get there early for breakfast as they run out of bubble and squeak, and you'll want to try that.

came recently and was served by a moody and ignorant host. she was too busy messing around with staff than wondering whether we needed serving.

just read other reviews and one customer is right - the owner doesn’t want to hear constructive feedback. whether you’ve been in business 1 or 35 years is of no consequence. people give up their precious time and cash to eat somewhere where they will feel welcome.

it feels good to get value for time and money as opposed to moodiness, ignorance and lazy service.

so please - take on board those customers who take the time to write a review and chat with your team who are not pulling their socks up.
*** the owner wrote back to another customer review saying that they can “assess” whether they want to come back, which is fair enough. but it’s their loss. not the customer’s.

the food is great. but if you’re looking for consistent, welcoming customer service - i’d give terry’s café a miss.

another london visit and another visit to terry's, i made a mistake in ordering "the works" last year as it's a big beast and as much as i tried, i couldn't finish it, so i ordered "the blowout" this time around, fantastic quality, all cooked wonderfully, tea on tap (free refillables), a fantastic breakfast to kick start your day

great cafe for a fry up, one of my favourite places to have breakfast whenever i am in the area. lunch is quite good as well, particularly the sausage, mash and onions on fridays.

it's been a long search to find the best fry up in london but i've finally found a winner. terry's has taken the crown by some distance, they're not open for long and it's a bit of a schlep, unless you're fortunate enough to live in se1, but definitely it's definitely worth the trek. proper sausages and bacon and that extra bit of care and attention makes this, by a country mile, the best fry up i've managed to find. a little gem of a place which is well worth a visit.

terry's is quality. although a bit of a strange one. limited opening hours give an air of exclusivity to a cafe that looks like it has been on great suffolk street for centuries (as opposed to the few decades it has been there). the cosy old fashioned interior could easily just be fashionable decoration, but is instead fully authentic - the authenticity further reflected in simple, but bang on quality cafe food. a straight forward cup of coffee for a quid, and a thick white bread sandwich that feels as homemade as they get.
(the special blt was top notch and hits the spot beautifully for 5£)
it's highly rated so expect it to be busy, but terry's is a perfect lunch spot. you're a lucky lucky man if it is your ~regular~.

my daughter loved their sandwiches thought we always use the take away service and never got a chance to dine in but there sandwiches are amazing. i have tried many of them but my favorite is fish finger sandwich. service has always been great and food is very reasonably priced. we love this place and will definitely recommend.

this is a family run restaurant is genuinely the most quality as well as brilliant places i have ever visited in london. with the best breakfast in town, this place is tucked away in a side street and is just ten minutes away from the famous south bank.

if you're craving for some traditional and yummy english breakfast, then you must give this place a shot! do try their sausages and home made squeak as they are extremely flavoursome.

the cafe is more suitable for breakfast than lunch. the guy running the place is very entertaining. he comes at your table cracks a joke and that is a good start to your mornings. they place offers daily specials that are a good value for money. the view from the cafe is also very good.

this one is an authentic british cafe and there are very few in london so according to me this place is a must visit.
the food is always fresh and portions are generous too.
the ambiance is also very good , you will feel like you are again living in 40s.
if you are planning on visiting here i am sure you will have truly awesome experience.

i went their on a friends birthday, it was his favorite place. this cafe is run by a family and they are famous for serving good variety of breakfast options. the restaurant was not fully occupied so we enjoyed our time there. they were serving a variety of pies all served with mash and vegetables on the side.
