terra plata is exactly what it says. literally translated to "earth plate", the entire goal of this restaurant is to provide fresh, local, natural food that isn't tarnished with chemicals or harsh ingredients. their "earth to plate" mentality is refreshingly unique, and made for some delicious food. as their food is all natural, his means that the majority of the menu is gluten-free, and unlike many gluten free foods, theirs does not taste like sawdust or fall apart like wet paper mâché the moment you touch it. my pancakes were phenomenal, and while you can definitely tell that they aren't normal and are missing a few regular (albeit unhealthy) ingredients, this isn't a drawback whatsoever, and i actually enjoyed them immensely. the other dishes had a plethora of fresh ingredients and were delicious. all in all, i lovedterraplatta and i wish there were more restaurants like it.

i didn't even knowterraplata existed. i guess, i'm somewhat out of the capitol hill scene, but i was so glad i got to try it out with my family. the place has a great vibe and interior is decorated with beautiful wood accents. 

everything in their current menu is delicious. there were a few of us, so i had the chance to taste multiple dishes. i was not disappointed with the food quality. however, the wait staff could make some improvements to their customer service. it wasn't horrible, so i would definitely be stopping by again.

there with three friends on a beautiful june day. we ate in the dining room with all the doors and windows open to the soft june breeze. our service was fast and efficient. we had lots to talk about and our waitress had the prefect level of attentiveness and deference to our chatting. i had the salad nicoise, which was the best i've ever had. tuna was perfectly cooked and flavored ahi with tender greens, green olives and a light, tangy dressing. i even drank a house -made soda that was light and refreshing. i've always lovedterraplata, but this was the best lunch yet.

i loveterraplata. for starters, it is a beautiful space. the first floor is rustic, sunlit and airy and is a perfect setting for the delicious brunches they serve up every weekend. each dish tastes as amazing as it looks. the ingredients are seasonal and local and the menu caters to both savory and sweet palates. definitely worth a visit.

posted on april 21, 2015 by hiyezz spring means seattle restaurant week! my first visit was toterraplata in capitol hill. its so funny because i’ve visited this triangle so many times and did not have noticeterraplata. i’ve been to a number of restaurants around the area including sitka and spruce, machiavelli, pine box, and lil woody’s. i heard they have a rooftop garden that i intend to visit on a nice sunny day atmosphere : the main entrance is located on the corner of melrose and minor. there’s a bar in the back with many tables surrounding the windows. accommodates large and small parties. it was more on a darker atmosphere but the windows gave the restaurant some light. a pet peeve of mine are super dark restaurants where you can barely see what you’re eating. pricing : srw menu includes 3 courses for $30. unfortunately for lunch, they have decreased the menu from 3 to 2 courses. still for $15 service : we had a main server and i forgot his name, but he was pleasant and did his best to explain the reason for their scattered service. the food came out pretty randomly and not all at once. the appetizers came out with a couple dishes at a time, which was fine because we were doing it more family style. the entrees also came out rather scattered and was spaced out even more than the appetizers. there was always one lingering dish per course. for that, i’d give them a 3/5 stars based no service. i know they’re busy, but it’s not a small restaurant and it’s important to be able to manage the kitchen. food : lots of pics enjoy! appetizers! we actually had two rounds of these because they had lost track of which appetizers we had already received. the second batch was on the crisper side. hand made chips with truffled sea salt and pecorino chive cream. nothing special, but we were hungry and scarfed it down. at first glance, it’s really… interesting lol. i wasn’t sure how it was going to taste but it was earthy with a hint of tartness. nettle soup with a fiddlehea

just next door to the melrose market isterraplata , a restaurant that focuses on seasonal and local fare, or as they call it “earth to plate”. when we were there they had a stand set up selling their fresh and perfectly chunky summer gazpacho. they have a really nice rooftop deck that is open during the warm months. aside: i’m not exactly sure whether these guys were fromterraplata or another restaurant in the melrose market area, but they sold me a very tasty huckleberry soda. and doesn’t the guy on the left look just like  seth rogen ?terraplata on: tacos chukis i’ve had lots of really terrible mexican food in my travels, so a decade ago i swore off eating tacos anywhere except california or mexico. in recent years, i’ve come to realize that with changing demographics in the us and the resurgence of attention given to quality food, you can find good ethnic food in unexpected places. so we decided to give tacos chukis a try. i had their vegetarian tacos and kevin their pastor se

this is one restaurant that i have had on my wish list to try out for some time now, so i was very excited to finally be going there. when we arrived to the restaurant and were seated, and we were treated to a signature cocktail fromterraplata called the seattle rain drop. to save myself from using the same adjectives like, delicious, tasty, amazing, great, outstanding and so damn good, i will not give individual descriptions on how each course tasted at the supper. i will list out each course with the pictures i took last nigh

i was diving into a generous bowl of pork spiked with some of my favorite ingredients like tomatillos, jalapeños, and poblanos, giving the dish spicy brightness. hominy provided a little “pork and beans” feel. naturally, i added a nice poached egg on top, and barely had need for the accompanying corn tortillas to enjoy the meal. so what doesterraplata’s palace green chili pork teac

last week my close friends carolyn and miguel got married and celebrated their union with some memorable wedding festivities.  the festivities began with the rehearsal dinner that took place on the new rooftop deck atterraplata.  terra plata brings you seasonal inspired food with local growers and artisan producers.  some of those ingredients can also be found on the roof too. the food was top notch with its creativity, flavor, and attention to detail.  combine that food with a great reason to celebrate, and the best rooftop in seattle (outside of pike place market) then you have one of seattle’s best summer dining experiences.   congratulations to carolyn and miguel!  thanks for having me part of the wedding and hosting such a wonder dinner experience!

the space thatterraplata fills is glorious. i want to eat here every single warm, balmy night we have in seattle this next summer. every single one. if i don’t answer my email, that’s where you’ll find me. warm woods, miles of windows on the two long sides of the triangle, & lines & curves to make an a architect weep. hey, who was the architect on this? i’d like them to come do my house, thanks.

despite my complaints about dated cuisine,terraplata is tasty. that’s because nostalgia’s currency is inflation-proof. you might think, for instance, that fancy mac & cheese is played out by now, but you still return to it because in the end, like bacon-wrapped cheese-stuffed dates, it’s actually quite awesome.

where's the tamara murphy we knew?. i had high hopes forterraplata, mostly because tamara murphy's brasa was so great. and she won't let you forget about her james beard award, oh no.
going toterraplata for my birthday, however, did not reveal the kind of exquisite food and service that one would hope. here are the things we liked: interesting wedge space for a restaurant, open bar that looks right into the kitchen, unusual cocktails and a uniformly good list of wines by the glass..here's what we didn't like: chairs don't go with the chic modern vibe they're aiming for; the chairs belong to a rustic spaghetti joint. no bread unless you pay $3 for 3 slices, sheesh. because it was my brithday, my husband brought a 2002 leonetti merlot. corkage fee: $25, ouch!! most restaurants charge $15 for corkage. we ended up buying a couple glasses of wine and opening the leonetti at home. the food was a mixed bag. roast pig was the winner: hearty stew-like concoction of pork, chorizo, and clams. the fish, fluke, was not as successful: bland white fish with a too-subtle sauce and raw/blanched almonds that didn't seem to fit the dish. i agree with other reviewers who thought the vegetable sides were too costly. half a cauliflower with barely any sauce for $12, really? the entire cauliflower cost you less than $2 in the store. others made the same point about the carrots and rapini. next time (if we ever do go back), we would get one small appetizer, such as the pate or broiled oysters, one large entree, and skip the ala carte veggies. we didn't try the desserts as they didn't seem very interesting.
tamara murphy has done extraordinary things in the past. step it up, tamara, don't rest on your laurels!
