there is not much choice on the mountain for food so you would think the restaurants would make use of this. the tavern is one that depends on fresh food and happy patrons. great meal of locally made sausages and a chicken burger. the meal was definitely fresh, wholesome and quick. while not too cheap it is well worth the stop. a locally brewed beer with dinner was had with gusto. great dinner.

great for a good meal after walking around cradle mountain for the day. nice warm atmosphere. the staff were also lovey about making a gluten free meal option for me.

tasteless soup, and a very undercooked (i.e. raw) chicken and leek pot pie (with more bacon in than undercooked chicken). tried to get a lot cider, but only the big commercial guys on hand. was not expecting much - and certainly got it.

it’s really handy that this place is still serving lunch into the afternoon, time can fly if you’re out walking on cradle mountain. the service was nice and quick and they were generous with pizza toppings, although sometimes the pizzas may have spent a little too long in the pizza oven. the mediterranean pasta was also really great, as were the chips.

lovely pub in peppers cradle mountain lodge so i expected high quality food but it was just standard pub food. we got:
* spaghetti carbonara - i found it too salty and too creamy. would be better without cream and having cooked the bacon until it was crispy.
* chicken schnitzel: my friend had this and he thought it was ok. the mushroom sauce was a bit salty but the chips that i tried was nice

this is one of the restaurants at the cradle mountain lodge. it's a pub like feel with live music and the portion sizes are big. they have a good beer and wine list too. we started with chips and garlic bread. it was a cold evening the chips were great and the bread was quite soft.

for mains we had the soup of the day which was a lentil soup. we also went for the vegetarian pasta and the vegetarian burger. like i mentioned the portion sizes are quite big, the burger comes with chips on the side.

the soup was really good, the pasta was ok and the burger was really nice. overall a really lovely evening with good food.

the food here is surprisingly good. went in with low expectations and had a good burger for lunch on the first day. two days later went back for dinner and i had the soup of the day (pumpkin), actually delicious. presently surprised. the other people i was with had pasta and also the chicken snitizel. all of which were made with quality ingredients. food came quickly despite a packed restaurant.

asked whether the mushroom burger could be made vegan i.e. without dairy. it's lucky that i checked when it came as there was cheese inside; this is worrying, particularly for those with allergies. scraped cheese off and ate but the burger was only okay. not worth $25.

the service while quick was done with a frown, the waitresses were rough and didn't exhibit any sign of customer service.

we ordered the caesar salad and the lamb burger; burger was decent but was very dry and the chips were cold.

the caesar however was horrendous, the lettuce was thrown in the salad uncut with barely any dressing. the worst thing however was the chicken (which is an extra). the chicken was hard as a rock, barely warm and tasted like it had been in the fridge (or under it) for at least a week.

i get it that they were busy and all but don't serve food that you wouldn't eat yourself.

i was recommended this place by several people but was very disappointed. the service was quite good and the bar had a good selection. the food was just all wrong.

i ordered the crumbed chicken with aioli - chicken was far overcooked, very dry, with nowhere near enough aioli considering it was the only sauce on the plate. my companion ordered the fish and chips - looked nice at first glance but once cut, the batter was clearly too thick and undercooked.

we managed to eat about half our meals then left. next time we'll drive right past this place.

a disappointment.
i have chosen this place after reading a lot of good reviews.

perhaps it's because it's a monday night, there wasn't a lot of choices of food available. we settled with the special on the board of carbonara pasta,fish and chips, steak and fried squid.
we also ordered the hot wings as an entree.

food was relatively plain but edible. noting there's not a lot of choices on the mountain, i was looking for reasonably priced pub food. a little of a disappointment. i recommend for most that not want to pay exorbitant price to self cater since most accomodation are self catered!

friendly staff and good service, i ordered the chicken burger which had a lot of kick/spice to it so if you're not one for hot food probably avoid it otherwise go for it! the bun wash fresh, chicken was cooked perfectly tender and the aioli was full of flavour. the other half ordered a pasta dish with the mushroom and feta (forgot the name) which was good and the apple crumble for desert which was a disappointment, the apple wasn't cooked enough making it feel like we were eating a heated up apple.

all you can eat breakfast buffet was perfect! with the option of eggs, bacon, cooked mushrooms, fruit juices, french toast, yoghurt, museli etc. great start to the day.

nice place with good pub food, friendly staff, a warm open fire place and a pool table. gave us this nice mountain feeling, so we went for lunch and dinner twice.

had the salmon and beetroot salad- skip it. zero flavour and way overpriced. wine was good, view nice, service was pretty good. i guess options are limited on cradle mountain but surely they can do better than this
