poor taste in service. yes, everyone gives this place high marks. but to my experiences at other short north establishments, no thanks, my income will be going elsewhere.

to the very nervous and put off "server" at tasi's around 1ish yesterday. yes, i see your restaurant has a very swinging crowd and since my companion and i were being accommodating to your special guests and decided to order our food to go, as there were no seats anyway. but low and behold a table opened up and alas while we waited what seemed endlessly for our to go order there was a table opened up and the crowd had thinned so we thought well it's been so long surely they wouldn't mind of we changed our minds and wanted to stay and finally eat. yes, i know there are rules about that kind of thing, taxes, other patrons....blah blah blah. how about the next thing you do is to check on that also paying patrons order, instead of use that opportunity as agoodtime to restock your kitchen? you're rude, inconsiderate and quit foolish. i won't be back. thank you very much. and thank you to the server that did find our lost order. smh. too bad you're a scar to the short north community in my book!

tasi is one of my little family's go to spots for brunch. we enjoy it enough that we visit about three times a month at least, but we have definitely had a few things that we downright did not like one bit. so we stick to our usuals- poached eggs with black bean cakes or chicken salad sandwich- but we're wary of exploring the menu. the quality of the food is definitelygoodbut i just question who decided to put some of these dishes together for the menu... they are just flat out not good.

reallygoodbreakfast---nice place. my son and i just started a sunday tradition of finding the best breakfast around columbus. this is our third week and we chose tasi based on reviews. the food was reallygoodand we really liked ordering our food at the counter and then being served. only one complaint---it was so cold, the air was blowing on us the whole time---which meant our food turned cold very quickly. : ( all the tables were full, so we couldn't move to escape the cold air. we will return in the future --- maybe wait until they need to turn on the heat!!!

went for lunch today and had the pulled pork sandwich, fries w/reggiano & pepper flake, tri-colored slaw, & pancakes. the fries could have used a little more salt, but it's easy to see why this place is so well-reviewed, even with almost no parking and the fact that the street they are on is currently completely shut down w/construction. didn't seem to be hurting their business.goodfood, goodprices, would go back probably if i'm in columbus again, esp. if i went on a monday again. note to columbus, monday is a day that you can conduct business on, particularly in a city of this size it's shocking how many restaurants are closed. kudos to tasi for working on mondays!

1/24/2011. had a very late brunch here yesterday. ordered the huevos rancheros, coffee, oj, and split an order of the biscuits and gravy.

well for $3 you can get a fresh squeezed oj or a coffee. the oj was tiny, and overpriced i felt. tasty while it lasted though. the coffee was verygood, 4-4.5 stars.

the huevos rancheros, in a word, wasn't. it was poached eggs with fresh, warm salsa, and a tortilla with black bean paste on it. fresh ingredients, but felt like false advertising, was nothing like huevos rancheros. would give this a 3.

the biscuits and gravy, which i normally hate, were quasi-transcendental. the thought of the typical freaky congealed gray sludge that resembles concrete is enough to make me shudder, so i was reluctant to even try this. it was the best version i have ever had. crunchy biscuits that could handle the gravy without turning to mush. the gravy was what really made it though. 5 stars for that puppy.

i was confused whether or not i should tip? the staff seemed a bit aloof, and no one was in a rush to bus anything, and you pay when you order, but i also got a funny vibe that they sort of expect a tip. perhaps a sign to help clarify? they had a tip jar by the register, but i'd be more likely to give money to the homeless than put cash in any of those.

warm, welcoming, and delicious. tasi café is the fourth eatery from kent and tasi rigsby (their others being rigsby's kitchen, flat iron, and the eleni christina bakery). although it has been in existence for a few years, i have to admit that up until recently i had never stopped in - something that i already regret. so this is my advice, "don't make the same mistake i did, stop in to give it a try as soon as you can!"

tucked away in a quaint spot on pearl alley, a half block east of high st in the short north, tasi café serves a casual breakfast, lunch, and dinner (though the latter has to be early to finish up by their 5pm closing time everyday besides friday and saturday). as soon as you enter, you can't help but be overwhelmed by the open, welcoming layout of the restaurant. with large windows allowing in plenty of natural light and exposed brick lining most of the walls, tasi has one of the more comfortable atmospheres i've ventured into in a while.

after perusing the menu written on a chalkboard over the top of the counter, you place your order and pay at the register. they'll hand you a small placard emblazoned with the profile of one of various breeds of dogs, which they'll later use to locate you in the restaurant and deliver your order. the waiters will serve your food and buss your table, but ice water and coffee are both self-serve (you have to pay for coffee, but it is illy-brand) and are located just left of the counter. although the seats are few and the place is usually crowded, resist the temptation to "save" a table as soon as you walk in. the timing usually works out just right that if you wait in line, place your order, and then grab your drinks, a table should open up by the time you're ready to sit down. saving a table ahead of time can throw off the whole rotation, leaving stranded diners standing without a place to eat.

the heart of the menu lies in their all-day breakfast and brunch offerings, which take the form of normal brunch fare - pancakes, huevos rancheros, biscuits and gravy, etc - but with a slightly more formal and gourmet touch (though not the gourmet price, with most ~$7 each). they add in seasonal items and leave out any processed or unnatural ingredients, opting to freshly make everything on-site. the lunch/dinner menu consists of a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads, and comfort food entrees, such as meatloaf and a particularlygoodmacaroni and cheese. on friday and saturday nights, they also offer a variety of pizzas and mediterranean-influenced salads and entrees, for variety. being that the rigsby's also own a bakery, you would be wise to sample their breads and pastries, baked fresh each day (great croissants, too).

in addition to their food menu, tasi café also offers a small-but-nice wine selection alongside a handful of beers to enjoy while you dine. they also have small retail section where you can purchase a variety of local or gourmet food items (sodas, sauces, oils, etc.) for your own culinary adventures. and finally, the black beans are inside the tortillas for their huevos rancheros.

must-try dish: cinnamon challah french toast w/bananas
