we noticed a line outside this place on sunday lunchtime and decided to see what the fuss was all about. it looked like most people were eating the crispy chicken so we tried that - hands down the best i've ever had. so crispy on the outside, yet juicy on the inside. hainan chicken was okay, a little on the dry side. the broth was clear but a little bland. service was really quick despite it being a full house during lunchtime. delicious and filling!

whenever i come here (which is pretty often) i always get the dry noodles and crispy skin chicken, because it's always been a particular favourite of mine ever since i was a child ☺️

• the service is quite quick and the waiters are friendly

• the egg noodles are complimented with a spoonful of fried garlic, leeks, coriander and a few leaves of iceberg lettuce - which adds a little crunch to the noodles.

• the chicken is deliciously crispy and succulent. it's about the size of half a chicken, and each bite is juicy and tender.

• the dish also comes with a clear soup which is peppered with coriander and spring onions, and is a tasty way to finish your meal

tan viet is widely known as one of the best crispy chicken in sydney! if you come during lunch or dinner time, be prepared to wait for a little bit (the turnover is quite quick tho!)...yes! this crispy chicken came in its glorious golden brown colour.. it's moist, succulent, juicy and ultimately delicious!

consistently good crispy chicken egg noodle soup.
tan viet is known for its crispy chicken either dry (no soup) or with soup. sitting at the top of john street of the shopping strip of cabramatta, this place sometimes gets so busy that there is a line to get in on weekends for lunch. definitely worth the wait as tables are turned over quickly. food is also fresh and quick. there is plenty of seating and a ramp for prams/walkers, but is partially used to store bins and trolleys.
we ordered the crispy chicken noodle soup with egg noodles, white rice noodles are also available but egg noodles have that bite to it (al dente) and doesn't go soggy like white rice noodles do. it comes in a bowl with clear broth, chives, shallots, and coriander. the broth is tasty, not too salty and not too sweet. the dish comes with a side of bean sprouts, i personally prefer cooked bean sprouts and i further cook them in the soup as it comes out piping hot. the dipping sauce generally made with fish sauce, sugar and vinegar also had some chilli in it - yummy when dipped with your chicken, the combination of flavours are good. the chicken had a crispy skin and was moreish. its tasty on its own but next level when dipped in the sauce. i also ordered a side of pickled vegetables of carrot and cabbage. it was mildly spicy, sweet and salty. it was yummy, crunchy and tasted fresh. i tend to order every time i come here.
we also ordered the black pepper beef (cubed) with tomato rice with a side salad. we specifically asked for no garnish on the dish but still received the meal with garnish. it comes with a small bowl of clear broth, salt and pepper to dip the meat as well. the flavours of the meat were nice, slightly peppery but the meat was not tender, otherwise tasty. the tomato rice was okay, i personally prefer white rice. the broth was a bit salty but otherwise nice. we finished the meal off with a lemon soda with freshly squeezed lemon juice. it was a nice combination of sweet and tangy. we always order it every time we come here.
definitely will be back for the crispy chicken, but remember to bring cash as there is no eftpos facilities.

nothing to write home about, food wasn't anything special but was well priced. i would rate somewhere more gritty for a better feed in cabramatta

when i first came to sydney, i couldn’t understand why my 80-year-old grandma would want to travel 1 hour to cabramatta for fried chicken that’s practically sold in every cantonese restaurant. they kept saying the crispy skin fried chicken at tan viet  will blow your mind. i have to say, i came to tan viet with exceptionally high expectations. that day, i left with a valuable lesson to never doubt my grandma again.

best crispy skin chicken noodles in sydney, crispy outside and soft inside! i usually get thirsty after eating viet noodles because of their msg, but their soup doesn't make me thirsty at all. i have been to their eastwood branch few times, but the quality is not that consistent. unlike the usual viet restaurant, this one is quite spacious and i can bring my pram in easily.

worst customer service. walked in and was guided by a female staff member to sit down at an empty table (one among many rows of empty seats). subsequently was told in a rude manner by a young male staff member to go sit in the tight corner. after his persistently rude attitude, we left to another restaurant with impeccable service.

i am sure all of you have occasional cravings for certain types of food (and you don't have to be pregnant to experience this!). this can beset you at any point in time. well, lately i have been craving all things vietnamese and i don't even know why! my good friend cw and i have been planning to do a cabramatta crawl since february of this year. yes! you read right, february! :-) we finally managed to make it work. no heat wave, no prearranged social engagement and most importantly no track work planned that weekend. yay! i was looking forward to satisfying my cravings! the plan was to eat through our hit list but share the meals so we didn't fill up too quickly. we started by having breakfast and pho was our choice. pho tau bay has reputedly the best pho in town. i don't recall having been here before and it was quite a tiny little restaurant. we got there before 10 am and was lucky enough not to have to wait for a table. as we sat down, a man came up to take our order but we were no

tan viet noodle house is a legendary vietnamese restaurant in cabramatta which is popular for its addictive crispy chicken and egg noodles.

my first visit to tan viet ended in disappointment - the egg noodles in soup was soggy and overcooked.

but my second sttempt was a delightful culinary experience. the tender and juicy crispy chicken, dipped in fluorescent-like sweet chilli, was tasty but i hoped they could marinate the chicken longer so that it was more flavourful. i slurped the delicious springy egg noodles within seconds and secretly hoped my girlfriend would permit me to try a second serving! how i wish more asian noodle restaurants in sydney could serve this delicious egg noodles (it's very common to taste this delicious springy noodles in hong kong, singapore and malaysia though).

this place is always busy but the wait is never too long. arrived here for dinner last night and we sat by the door since there were no seats and it was freezing (typical sydney weather). the waiters took our order and once a seat cleared up inside, asked if we would like to move in further to keep warm and that's probably the best service i've had from here.

the chicken can never be at fault, definitely a great feed!

crispy chicken was good but soup a bit bland with very small amount of green veg. egg noddles are slightly undercooked. choices are limited. curry serving size was small. food is a bit pricier than others. its over rated.

i had been to vietnam recently and was craving another hit of the amazing cuisine. so i decided to visit tan viet noodle house. i had the egg noodles with bbq pork and some che for dessert. the flavours came quite close to what i had in vietnam. service was great and the prices were very affordable. would definitely visit again ☺
