agoodplace to visit for people who love to eat africa. and carribean. the injera was good. the jerk chicken was probably the best dish even though it can a bit spicy for some people. the flavour was just amazing and right.

the injera was good, very springy andgoodflavor, but very little spice in the beef, collard greens or beans. beef was like beef boyarde. lentils tasted a bit like porridge. music wasgoodand the decor was fine and appropriate, but very disappointing compared to other restaurants that serve injera based dishes. service seemed a bit disinterested.

erratic hours? closed?. love the food, but the last two times we've gone (including today, dec 27 after 11:30 a.m.) they have been closed! notgoodwhen you have friends meet you there to eat and you have to hastily come up with an alternative. worse yet, we don't live in albuquerque, so really getting annoying. can't reach them by telephone to find out what's going on and if the hours have changed. so...great food, but please call and make sure they are open (or still in business) before you go.

great eat, goodservice. i have been here multiple times and the owner has given me great suggestions and service each time, making it difficult for me to believe he would be rude. he was very helpful to me when i was here and served me great food. the jerk chicken i ordered was hot off the pan, and cooked to perfection so contrary to other reviewers, i believe there is a lot of care put into this restaurant and their cooking. the owner was also kind enough to open up the store for some customers to purchase items even though it was closed. i hope this place will be there for a long time and that one disgruntled customer's "bad" experience will not dissuade others from coming.

nasty food. this is the worst excuse of african food i have ever had the displeasure of eating. the food is overpriced and tasteless. i ordered beans and plantain and the unprofessional rude owner actually had the nerve to set down in front of me burned plantain and cold beans. i will never ever eat here again. i am from houston and have tried many african dishes and never have i experienced such lazy cooking and unprofessional-ism. it is like he is not even trying anymore somebody please open another african restaurant in albuquerque because you guys obviously don't know whatgoodafrican food tastes like. he has this huge restaurant and its always empty. time for him to get out of business and keep his disgusting food to himself. i have attached photos of yam i bought from the store that he refused to exchange for ones that were not rotten!! he actually sells rotten food to his customers.

talk about redemption! we went there back in april and had a decent experience:goodfood but lousy wait time and atmosphere. looks like they've made huge improvements since then. again, i ordered the jerk chicken with plantains which were just as tasty. this time, though, the service was quick and more professional.. not to mention some apparent changes to the vibe of the place itself. our initial visit had me rating them a c but they've moved to a- in my book. give them a try.

good, but pricey. although i enjoyed my selections, i couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. several items on the menu were unavailable and i felt the price on some of the entrees was too high for the amount of food. for example, the jerk chicken with rice, although quite tasty and well prepared, was $13 (a dinner-sized price for a lunch-sized portion). even just a side of vegetables or fried plaintains might have made me feel like i was getting my money's worth. the chicken patties weregoodand i always enjoy a zesty ginger beer. i was hoping to make this a regular stop on my lunch rotation, but now i will probably save this splurge for a special occasion.

delicous culinary adventure. i am no expert on african cuisine but i knowgoodfood and this fits the bill. the resturant is set up so you order your entree which is always vegitarian and then have the option to add meat. they have about 7 different meats that you can add i had the goat which was prettygood( i have had better). my dining partner had the chicken which was amazing. as for the dishes we got. well i cant remeber the names but i will tell you this i will definately be back!! also they have lots of drinks imported from africa that are super yummy and i have never seen anywhere else.

my only complaints is the decor is pretty lame and definately needs some work. however both the food and ther service were excellent.

pricey, strange and not that great. although there is (almost) no vegetarian food listed on the menu, they are willing to make it. but i was not too happy. i got the beans and rice, which they were quite willing to make without the stew. i asked if i could get it with fried plantains, and they said "sure," but then charged me, without warning, for an entire appetizer of plantains! after i had saved them the money on the meat! so my vegetarian meal came to over $13, with only water for a drink, and no dessert.

in fact, i don't think they have dessert.

my mother got the fried rice with vegetables. it was odd, not at all what i would have expected. a cup-and-a-half-sized mound of slightly spiced yellow rice, which i never would have known was not steamed, with a large amount of corn and barely cooked peas mixed through it. it was tasty enough, but i wouldn't have wanted an entire meal of it. she got an additional piece of chicken for 50 cents, which she said was the worst she'd ever had. it was very small, maybe 2 inches in diameter, and very tough.

my brother got the curried chicken and said it was average. not very spicy. he said the chicken flavor was stronger than the curry flavor. it was a cup-and-a-half-sized mound of the curried minced chicken and a cup-sized mound of steamed white rice.

i think i was the only one in our party who liked what they got. the beans were a kind i have never had before, african brown beans, and they were very tasty, similar to pinto beans. a three-quarters-cup-sized mound of them, a cup-sized mound of steamed white rice (which seemed a bit dried out around the edges) and an absolutely delicious red chili sauce that was satisfyingly hot. the serving was large enough to satisfy, although just barely. the fried plantains, about 15 slices which they served on the side, were the best i've ever had, sweet, flavorful, with a touch of garlic in the frying oil.

all meals were served with nothing else, no appetizers (although you can buy them), no bread, no munchies of any kind.

the service was bothgoodand horrible. the waiter was attentive (once he finally got to us) and probably the nicest man who has ever waited on me. we came just after a small rush, which may account for why it took over 10 minutes to have our drinks order taken. i can't account for the rest of the slowness. our food order was taken about 5 minutes later. it was more than 20 minutes after that, and we were the only ones left in the restaurant, when the first dish appeared on the table. about 15 more minutes before the last person in our party of four was served, more than 45 minutes after we first arrived.

there is a store attached to the restaurant, selling both food and craft items, but i don't know if it was open. you apparently have to exit the restaurant and go in a separate door!

while urbanspoon indicates the restaurant is open for dinner, it will have to be an early one. they close at 6 pm!

very interesting and worth a couple looks. went to lunch here two days ago since it is new in my neighborhood. was glad to see the familiar jamaican meat pies. had the beef one. also had the beans and rice which is done nicely withgoodseasoning. added a few pieces of goat meat on the side which is also nicely seasoned. there are quite a few items on the menu i've never heard of so i shall have to return and get educated.
