i actually hate this place. food is ok service is great but i always feel like i'm eating in a noisy caffeteria. everyone is yelling over each other just to hear. it really kills it for me.

my go to place anytime we don't want to go too far to eat a meal ... have always enjoyed the food here but i do wish they would change up their menu ... have been coming here for the last 6 years and the menu has not been changed once. the food is great and love their tex mex egg rolls which are my favorite and the dinner rolls are simply to die for. a little pricy but great food! service is good as well!

delicious food, good atmosphere, high prices. we enjoyed our dinner tonight at sweetwater tavern. the food was very tasty. we had the roast chicken, smoked salmon, southwestern chicken salad, and penne pasta. all the dishes were tasty and we enjoyed the nice variety of breads that were brought to the table.

downside is that the prices were all rather high. we stuck to the lower price choices and they were still about $15. i think this place should have a $$$ rating rather than $$.

music too loud!!. one would expect when they go out to dinner or lunch with a friend or family member, that they could really enjoy a nice experience with good conversation. each time that i have visited sweetwater tavern in sterling, the music is so loud that i am shouting and almost screaming across the table so that i can hear and be heard!! it's absolutely ridiculous! sweetwater has a lot to learn about creating a great environment for their guests. when the music is loud, everyone gets louder so that they can hear one another. the place is chaotic and one leaves with nerves and ears ringing. sweetwater certainly is not a selection of choice if one wants to have an enjoyable experience with their friends or family.

went in to grab some grub. the female bartender asked me what beer i would like and i mentioned that i needed to see menu for food. well say good bye to service. she never came back to ask about food so got up and left. went next store to olive garden . had salad drink with in 5 min. and food was on the way. sweet water needs to hire better mgr as bartenders loose customers based on lack of attention.

great beer, the american hef was fantastic. filet & crabcake was nice, steak was perfect medium-rare and crabcake was flaky with big blue crab chunks. gotta love skinny fried with a steak. the little rolls are great and so was the waitress. she was super friendly and cute as a bonus.

better than falls church, but still not gar's best!. since starting with fritzbe's, now silverado in 1974, great american restaurants, which is comprised of 1) artie's, 2) best buns bread company, 3) carlyle grand cafe, 4) coastal flats, 5) jackson's mighty fine food & lucky lounge, 6) mike's american grill, 7) ozzie's corner italian, 8) silverado, and 9) sweetwater tavern, have been serving up some of the best eats, satisfying service, incredible all-american variety, and great experiences from spirits, starters, meals and desserts. this is not by any means a commercial, but a patron's tribute to what has become 9 fantastic northern virginia dining destinations - an achievement few local restaurant chains can brag about. although sweetwater is not the best in the bunch, it out performs it's counterpart in falls church - i would come back here. bon appétit!

lobster bisque wednsdays. many others have written outstanding reviews of this sterling hot spot, but this menu item deserves a special highlight. eat this for lunch and try not to embarrass yourself by asking for a to-go bucket or a growler full. do not try it at night as it will either be unavailable or be scorched and reduced from sitting all day.

my usual place ;~). i love sweetwater for their "wood grilled filet mignon" with side thin french fries. i am a very picky carnivore and tried steak at many many different places. for numerous reasons i have been going back to sweetwater for my meet.

i love my filet medium rear, tender, and naked (no sauce). it is how my filet has been served every time i ordered in sweetwater. it is smooth to cut, little chewy but dissolves in your mouth. the flavor from the wood grill is neither too intense nor non-existing, simply very balanced. every bite is a very pleasing experience for me which even got me in trouble with my girlfriend. she gets jealous about the fact that i close my eyes while i am chewing some bites and according to her, i step into a different dimension. i have no conscious knowledge of my actions described by her.

sweetwater actually is a "tavern" where their own beer is brewed at the premises which, can be seen at the entrance on the right side. sweetwater offers 5 beers on tap every season. any kind of beer from a pale ale to a lager, wheat beer to an english style brown ale can be found depending on the season however, there is beer that will satisfy you any given time.

people in sweetwater in sterling are mostly very friendly and professional. i usually drink and dine at the bar where, bartenders are open for little chit chat or even some deep discussions unless you are deep in alcohol. they address you with your name and observe to see if you need anything. their waterfront, outside bar is awesome for summer, spring, and sunny fall happy hours. on the other hand, their outside dining area which also happens to have a nice water view is very suitable for an exciting first date or a romantic anniversary. especially the sunsets are very eye pleasing - sunglasses are almost mandatory.

please do not just act according to what you read here. go personally to see, feel, and taste. you are the one who would know yourself the best.
