i've been to sushi umi maybe a dozen times, probably more, i love it, totally unassuming, but not to be mistaken with your typical neighborhood-mystery-fish-sushi-joint that are all too common. this place is legit. where they lack in decor they make up in freshness of fish. and in my opinion the prices are very reasonable, especially at lunch. anyone who says otherwise should go to hokkaido sushi and indulge in their all you can eat barf buffet. only $20? wow! with that being said, the only criticism i have of sushi umi is that there is maybe some consistency issues, out of the dozen+ times i've been, maybe two times i was disappointed because something was off (sub-par rice, bad tempura). not horrible, just not asgoodas i know the chef and owner can do and has done most other times i've been there. overall, love sushi umi!
