this is a review of an asian restaurant calledsushiiwa located in apex, north carolina. it's in the beaver creek crossings shopping center near ulta. they are open daily from 11 am to 10 pm. we visited last sunday around 12:30 pm. they had quite a few customers, but there were still plenty of tables and booths available. their sanitation score is currently 97.5 which is very good. i didn't fancy the decor and it's very dark inside. i had to brighten the interior view photo above to give you a better view. when we walked inside the manager was busy on the computer and i had to wait for the asian receptionist to show up to seat us. i tried to place our drink order with her when we reached our table, but she said our waiter would be by soon. she wasn't friendly and not smiling though later she was very friendly with an asian man and his child and brought them food. so i'm not sure if she was a receptionist or a waitress. read the rest of my review on my blog, link below.

love this place, one of the better places forsushiin the area. :) the marry roll and my love roll was great! the rolls are quite large and the value is really good due to the buy 1, get 1 deal. the edamame could have used more salt, however. service was attentive and fast, great experience. :)

we keep going back. this place isn't going to blow your mind. thesushiis average (not a bad thing) and the entrees are adequate. but honestly, how many options does apex have for asian food?

this place is clean. the service has always been attentive. the food is good. and the kids love it! what more could you ask for (without driving twice as far and spending twice as much).

good food, unprofessional management?. i am a regular visitor to this restaurant and the food is extremely good especially the sushi. it really is the bestsushiin the triangle as i have tried tasu, sushithai, sushiblues, yuri, wasabi, and shiki (same owner as tasu). some of the servers are only okay, though a few of the regulars are impeccable. i decided to write this review because i had a server the other day that seemed very apathetic about her job, but also a little..out of it. she was inattentive, and i actually had to flag down other servers to help quicken the process of our experience there! minutes later i saw one of the male managers yelling at our waitress in the middle of the restaurant isle way! i was shocked, it seemed completely inappropriate and unprofessional, not to mention embarrassing for the employee! it was definitely a conversation that customers should not have had to hear. overall the restaurant is very clean, but the service is questionable? i hope the service improves.

groupon deception. i went in with the groupon for my first try of the restaurant figuring it would be a great chance to try out many of the sushi's they offered. we asked upon going in the door how everything worked since we had never been and they said if you have the groupon that the buy one get one is not able to be used. however sometimes if you order more than the $30 in food you can still get a discount...what?! the whole reason we got the groupon was for the great deal, now it seems you are better off not even using it. we decided that since we couldn't pig out ofsushiwe better get meals instead so we could actually feel full, but since our total would be over the dollar amount , go two rolls anyway. at the end the bill was nearly $50 but they still didn't give us a free roll as we anticipated. while eating nearly everyone that came in had a groupon and was being told the same thing..much to the same dissapointment. we have a second one but are now wondering if it is worth it. thesushiis delicious, but is quite pricey...expecially if you can't get a deal.

ditto on deceptive. went because wife got a groupon deal - half price. when we got to the front door the sign said: buy one, get one free. everything on menu; all day; every day. the server explained that the all day, every day, everything on the menu discount did not apply to groupon. we paid the same or a little more than diners without groupon.

so we ordered without groupon: several special rolls - 2 high priced, 2 medium priced, 2 low priced. i asked if the "buy one get one free" deal meant we would pay for 1 high, 1 medium and 1 low priced roll. "no, the free rolls are all the lowest prices".

the food was adequate, maybe even good. but i feel taken advantage of, and from now on i'll be enjoyingsushiat the many fine other establishments in the cary/apex area.

very good asian food. ordered take out and was very pleased. i had pad thai and my wife had seasame chicken. both meals were very good and used high quality meat. until now, i have not been able to find an asian restaurant in apex that does a good job and uses fresh ingredients.sushiiwa used all white meat without the usual grizzle. i also had the hot and sour soup and it did not disappoint either.

i talked to the owner while waiting for my food and this is a completely new restaurant, not affiliated with the previous tenet at that location. two of the three owners are chefs so that might explain the higher quality in the food.

already bought a groupon for the next time i go back.

great food but misleading advertising. i took my daughter tosushiiwa / beaver creek tonight. the entrance doors had "buy 1 get 1 free" in large red letters so large you couldn't miss the message upon entering the restaurant. we were taken to our booth and handed the menus. my first question to my server was "so how does this buy 1 get 1 free deal work ... does that mean that if i buy an entree, my guest gets an entree ... and if i buy a soup, my guest gets a soup ... and if i buy a dessert, my guest gets a dessert ? server says "yes" ... seems pretty straight forward. we proceed to order and enjoyed a great meal. i enjoyed a wonderfulsushimeal and my daughter had the hibachi beef. again ... the food was great. bill shows up (i'm expecting maybe $30-$35 and it's $45 before the tip. it shows we each got our soup for free with everything else full price. so now i'm pretty annoyed. i call my server back and say "i'm confused ... i asked you how the deal worked before i ordered and you told me i understood it correctly. now, i'm only seeing that we got our soup for free. she says i must have misunderstood. so, i can only give the experience a low score not because of the food but because of what seems, in my opinion, pretty vague (at best) advertising.
