the guy who started this chain is featured all over india and was also invited to the us to deliver his amazing dishes out there. the sukha mutton fry and butter chicken were to die for!!!! i was in amritsar for 3 days and this was a must try as everyone knows about this place.... and it took us an hour to locate this.!!

we ordered the mutton tikka, brain curry and tandoori chicken. everything was awesome juicy tandoori,tender and flavourful mutton tikka and the mutton curry was quite decent.

every person we spoke to told us to go to surjit's, and we were told lonely planet recommends it. my opinion is that it was average..
the restaurant is very clean, and the staff are attentive, but the food is only average. i think that the lp review has prompted them to westernise their dishes. the price was outrageous for the food, again probably because of lp review. that being said, it was nice - just not fabulous.

on a family trip to amritsar we stopped at surjit food plaza on lawrence road to eat.

little did we know it was going to be one shocker.

looking at the menu cards gave me goosebumps . ..

since everyone was already seated we decided to go ahead and order.

for non veg we had amritsar fish fry , tandoor chkn , butter chkn and roti

for veg we had pander tikka , cheese chanp , dal makhni and naan ...

i did not taste the veg but the non veg was decent nothing legendary and def not worth the gigantic pricing ..

featuring on lonely planet has prompted them to usd the rates

would have preferred quality over price any day . .

good food however the hotel is too dull with boring decor. however it can be visited with family members. i believe they should update their food menu rather than just over writing.

average food and overpriced. the mutton tikka was good but the high price and less quantity made it cost like gold. the amritsari fish, which they said was their speciality tasted like a jeera blast! there was no taste of fish. overall experience was that of being cheated for the sake of big name.

food is average, over priced. service is slow. took time for the tables to get cleaned. cutlery was not served. overpriced- chicken curry dishes priced at rs 600 & above(much higher than eatery's standard and other establishments of similar or higher repute. batter fried fish was soggy. dal makhni could have been any day better at any other dhabha. chicken kadhai was ordered but was served something totally different in looks & taste.

big name, huge bill but horrible experience.
heard a lot about this place and had a good outing 3 yrs ago. but last week was aweful to say the least. slow service, understaffed, pathetic food, unorganised and unfriendly owner and staff, lack of communication
wrong order received that too very late after repeated requests to deliver soon as we all were hungry..attentive only to known people and foreigners....would never go there again or recommend to anyone

nice place. decent clean ac place to sit. the owner doubles up as the chef, receptionist, cashier, food advisor. feel free to take tips from him before ordering. food is good (esp the fish).

this is an old restaurant located on lawrence road and it has a very stron reputation in the non veg section. few good things -the owner is very nice,he greeted us personally ,we were 17 guys and he gave us a very special discount. the restaurant is open kitchen and the ambience is pretty nice.
the negatives -price -its way too pricy. for this kind of food quality is found at 1/3rd its prices. the food is quite ordinary .we had dal,two types of panner dishes ,manchurian and naans. the food was served hot, had a lot of spices (not suited for foreigners). the chicken gravy was fine though chicken tasted a bit stale. but for this price i would not recommend surjeet. overhyped and overpriced.

during my visit to amritsar every person i spoke to (shopkeepers, locals, hotel staff, drivers etc) recommended me this place and boy i was not dusappointed. the place is simple with no pomp and show. the owners are very nice and peraonally greet customers and infact cook for them. the extent of taste and quality is that a simple moong daal was made delicious by them. for starters mutton tikka masala and tandoori chicken are must haves. for main course i went for tawa chicken (best one i have ever had), dal moong, mix veg and butter chicken. a must visit place for anyone who visits amritsar.

these guys might have a good heart... but they have terrible service! and it wasnt like the food bowled me over either... the 2 entirely for what i believe is a heart to the restaurant. word of caution therefore.. dont go there starved..you may not have the patience for even a 2

amazing food, barring few. had an awesome tandoori chicken, was well cooked and juicy with right mix of spices. unfortunately the amritsari fish was below standard. don't pay attention to the ambiance over there, just go there to satisfy your hunger for taste. tried kadhai paneer, was good. the only upset for me was that they have doubled their price of each dish. literally doubled.

unreasonably hyped & unreasonably priced!
sad food n even worse service levels..had fish amritsary..supposedly their speciality fish amritsary was a 4 piece dish , fried in a simple batter , very oily n no taste at all... chicken malai tikka was chewew n not properly cooked... very less qty ...unlikely what u expect from a restaurant in punjab..last but surely nt the least...anthr speciality..their butter chicken..is the worst i hve eaten so far...i thnk the other reviewers either needs to get their taste buds tested or........plz avoid...

had food thrice in two days...best place to eat total amritsari food..amazing taste..amazing service and total satisfaction. dont think just eat....
