sunflower thai vegan restaurant

very busy vegetarian thai restaurant on high street. the staff are super friendly and welcoming. food is ok, nothing really strikes me tho. the ambiance makes me feel like i'm back to asia, which is amazing!! good value if you use zomato gold by the way :) really my favorite veganplacein auckland 💓💓💓

thisplaceis now my go to vegetarian eating house in the city. if your a vegetarian you know there are not a lot of options in the cbd so am happy to have discovered sunflower.
staff are really sweet and helpful, food has great flavours and lots of veges and lots of variety. prices are very reasonable too.i hope they do very well and continue be around for a long time.

small little shop in high street which can be a bit hard to find/notice unless you’re really looking for it. came here because of zomato gold and was not disappointed! food was delicious and so many vegetarian and vegan options to choose from! at first glance this may seem like a takeaway shop but definitely give thisplacea chance if you’re looking for good food!

food: we had the pad thai and i substituted the chicken satay for tofu satay - very easy to change/alter your meals which i found accomodating. good portions and delicious!

service: lovely people and everyone was very sweet and accomodating. greeted and seated as we walked in and got checked up on during our meals.

would definitely recommend

tucked inside a little alley behind a couple of other restaurants is this vegetarian hidden gem. you’d be surprised by the menu they offer and it’s great for both vegetarians and meat lovers.

my friend really enjoyed the pad thai she ordered as it was full of flavour but not as oily compared to other places. the sunflower noodle soup was delicious as well, the soup was full of flavour and had a variety of additions such as vegetables, mushrooms and oden.

the food came out quickly and staff are friendly, though it’s probably not aplaceto come to if you’re looking for something with a bit more buzz.

it's an excellent choice for vegans/vegetarians, wide range of varieties to choose. its my regularplacefor lunch as it is located at convenient location and delivers awesome food. service is good and we get food on time.

i had dinner here and it was my first time having food from a vegan restaurant. service was efficient but you had to order before eating at the counter. cost was quite cheap as well. i got the spicy chicken with rice and i tried a bit of my friend’s fried chicken with rice. having had chicken multiple times in my life (even multiple times in weeks), i could clearly taste it wasn’t like the actual meat but i was still very interested in how they created the dish so it’s similar to chicken.

spicy chicken with rice (3/5) - didn’t like my dish that well. i think they wanted to make something like korean fried chicken with the sauce but i didn’t really like the taste. the sauce or vinegar that was under the bed of rice tasted good though.

fried chicken with rice (4/5) - tasted more like the real fried chicken and didn’t really get soggy as quickly. the soy inside was flavoured nicer than the spicy chicken.

overall, not too sure i would go again since i’m not vegan but it’s definitely a goodplaceto try out and eat more vegetables and fibre when my body needs it

dinner here was super nice! highlight was probably the fish and chips. definitely the best recreation of a meat dish i've ever tried, it wasnt perfect but honestly very close to the real deal and just as good. i shared the crispy chicken and spicy chicken with a friend and they were both really good. definitely obviously a meat substitution but tasty in its own right. i like how the most of the mains come with a generous portion of salad too. pretty much everything was good, definitely recommend for vegans and non vegans alike and will definitely visit again in the future!

the restaurant is located in the back of what looks like a food court. keep heading back and follow the signs until you reach the restaurant. the menu is quite extensive and it is all surprisingly vegan. i ordered at the counter and then grabbed an empty table. i was given water after sitting down.
i grabbed the pad thai and it was quite tasty. the flavours were nice and a bit different, i'm guessing due to the addition of other veges that you don't normally see in it like beans.
it was a really niceplacefor a really good meal without meat.

pleasantly surprised with this little gem in town. it was a very busy lunch time for thisplacewhen we arrived but service was stil excellent given there was only two people that manned the whole thing.
the selection is very broad and the taste was very good! i opted for the very popular spicy chicken and was not disappointed. will definitely be back to try more dishes from the menu. bonus that it was on zomatogold!

thisplacehas some fantastic food! not just for vegans/vegetarians either. dishes still manage to pack a big flavor despite being meat free and it's super value if you have zomato gold. definitely recommend the rad na thai fried noodles :)
