the food was great but the water was disgusting! i was almost finished before i tried it...yuck!!! not really sure who our server was because no one server came to us twice. we sat there about 20 minutes after we were done eating waiting for our check.

you must be joking!. either people writing good reviews don't get out muchor they don't know cooking at all. i can make better pancakes at home for crying out loud.and when i sent my eggs back because they were cooked wrong it tasted funny that weirdo owner came out and argued with me about it. said that it was offensive that i sent them back and that i hurt the cooks feelings.i couldn't believe it.so i say again you must be joking.

exceeded expectations before the food even came. went for brunch on sunday. i was first skeptical of its 92% rating but now, after experiencing it, i wholly agree. even though my husband and i had to wait ~20 minutes, our experience was wonderful. the owner, steve is passionate and friendly. it's clear he loves what he does and he just passes that energy on to his customers. the food was delicious and we will return.

hidden gem. i was looking for something different for breakfast. urbanspoon had 95% of folks liking sugar n' spice, so i decided to try it. we drove about 1/2 hour from the east side of cincinnati, and we had an awesome breakfast! since it was our first time, we weren't sure what to get. our server recommended that my daughter and i split an omelette and an order of pancakes (the two most popular things on the menu for breakfast). the food definitely did not disappoint! the pancakes were thin and tasty (just the way i like them). we had the not-so-kosher omelette, and wow - it rocked! the omelette was huge and splitting it was a good recommendation. our server made sure we picked a duck before we left (be sure to ask about the ducks)! i loved this place and will definitely be back!

we were welcomed by one of the strangest sights i believe my eyes have ever beheld. in the front yard sat a sculpture….a monument….a…well, i really don’t have a clue exactly what it was. its base was a round platform decorated with flags from around the world. on top of that was a very large pig, seated atop a tall-stack of fluffy pancakes, around which several smaller pigs wearing colorful tunics and carrying their own breakfast platters, danced. the mother of all pigs was carefully balancing a huge platter of yet even more pancakes, dripping with maple syrup, on her snout. now, the only thing i can gather from this is, that it’s possibly a carousel/music box-type device that is spun electronically, possibly to music? i don’t know. i’m going to have to go back during the summer to see if it’s turned on.

mmmm, mmmm great!!!. i lived in cincy for 2+ years, and went to sugar n' spice many many times. i'm not normally a pancake fan, but ate their "wispy thin" pancakes and fell in love with them! if you live there, or just visiting, you must try them!... i'm craving them right now!

sugar n spice: not so nice. i used to like this place, but had not been for a long time. today, i returned and experienced inexcusably horrible service. there were plenty of servers, but they spent most of their time fraternizing with a customer seated close to me at the counter. i had been greeted promptly with “how many? just you? coffee” (yes, just me and “no” to coffee.) she returned to deliver a menu and that was it for about ten minutes of watching the servers alternately chat with my neighbor.

i hate feeling like an inconvenience, but finally called over to one of the servers to ask to place an order. “i was waiting for your waitress to take your order.” (well, that made two of us.) finally “my” waitress returned from an extended engagement elsewhere and when directed to take my order, she responded with a mild confrontation. i should have left at that point, but nevertheless proceeded to order a blt, which was delivered shortly by “my” waitress. it was a small sandwich, presented unadorned and looking lost in the center of a large, otherwise naked oval platter. i had the distinct impression that they were working hard to make the food as unattractive as the service.

after eating, i was in no mood to sit around waiting for “my” waitress to deliver a check, so i proceeded to the cash register to report what i had ordered, but had to wait (once again) for the cashier to round up “my” waitress for a check.

needless to say, i’ll not inconvenience them ever again.

there are always regulars and first time patrons and it'€™s a diverse, upbeat clientele.  we'€™ve visited a number of times over the years and usually take friends or family with us as well.  everyone has always liked it.

food ok, service..... lacking. firstly, i know this is not the type of place where you would expect to get good service, so keep that in mind when you read this review. i know this is not fine dining, but please read on. the food here is pretty decent. it is not as good as waffle house though. i give waffle house an a, i give sns a c. please, do not order the belgian waffle here, it is disgraceful. if a belgian ordered it they would probably cry. its really doughy and is flat out terrible. this place could be good. however the two main servers there are horrible at what they do. there is the typical older lady who looks like your average granny. she calls you honey or sweetie to make you think she cares, but she does not care. all she does is take your order. try to get some ketchup, get your water refilled. see if she asks you if your food is ok or if you need anything. that will likely not happen. i have been there a dozen times and she is consistently a horrible waitress. i know they are busy there, but she can barely nail down the basics of what she should be doing. the same goes for the young girl who is always there. she seems like she has a bit of a nasty attitude. anyway, they both would never cut it in a regular/corporate restaurant. they are in a mom and pop joint and the rules are different there. some of the other people there seem nice, but the two main waitresses are awful at what they do. so some advice to them if they read this. refills, smile, check on the food quality, ask if people need anything sometimes and have a little personality, and don't stand around doing nothing. so, the gist is, the food is decent, the service is horrible. id rather go to waffle house or some other diner type place where the employees actually seem to care and give reasonably good service. i would never go back to this place and i recommend you do not go either. those two are way to comfortable and set in their ways. the service is a joke.
