did not like. awful service. bartender was so displeased that the pub was packed with people on a tuesday night using their groupons like i was. we were ignored, had slow service. the mussels were good, but the $9 hamburger was super bland (and it didn't come with any sides). too bad they showed the customers, who should have been getting good service to make sure they would return, that this was a place with crummy service and bland food.

slow, impersonal service. asked for a medium burger and got a dried out, very well done and flavorless patty. cole slaw comes as the side for dishes/sandwiches, and there's an upcharge to substitute for a relatively small portion of a different side. we were here for an hour and a half but only had our water/iced tea refilled once. disappointing all around--will not return.

without a doubt i will not return here. was seated at 8:10 and have yet to receive nothing more than our drinks. the waitress made it a point to state that the kitchen was backed up due to a large top table for some special gathering around 45 mins of waiting. i informed the manager to no avail. i don't feel it necessary to comment on the food due to the fact that i may never eat it before they decide to close. absolutely a waste of time. please refrain unless you don't mind waiting for a very long time.

probably better off just skipping this one all together. patio very nice, decor is amazing. we came here for my sisters birthday, we had 12 people in our party, had the whole dining room to ourselves. there was only one server on and no other guests on this very slow night. from start to finish it took is 3 hours to be served and they don't split checks if there are more than 10 people. he originally said he would split it 3 ways for us but when it came time to pay it was only one check! so we spend 400 dollars and you make us do all the math splitting what everyone had. i finally go to a "manager" but she tells me to wait while she collects all the sugar off the patio. then is rude when i asked why they just couldn't split the checks. she finally agrees to split them but tells us it's going to take a very long time. she wasn't kidding because 30 min later my family finally got to leave. finally found out the "manager" was the owner. wow if that's how you run a business i am shocked your still open. probably just because of the cool decor. the owner originally sat us and never once came to see how everything was. the shame is this place has great potential but lacks anything that is in the guests best interest. they don't have a website, charge . 50 for steak sauce on a burger that is tasteless, they don't have bottled ketchup, mustard or mayo! how cheap can you be?? lastly the customer is always right don't get into a argument with the guest because they want you to do your job and provide a service, because just a reminder you are in the service industry!

go for the patio stay for the food!. we found this restaurant on urban spoon and immediately decided it sounded intriguing and a must try. we went in the midst of the saturday evening rush and waited about 30 minutes for a table. we began with the mussels that were served in a large bowl with a tomato/pico de gallo type garnish over top. the mussels were steamed in a beer broth and served with a ciabatta bread it was very tasty but needed a bit of garlic to make it pop. the bread to dip in the broth was wonderful! mad stone pub has an excellent beer selection and we both enjoyed our choices. we each had the beef brisket sandwiches. the brisket itself was smoky, tender and juicy we both asked for cheese and shared a side of the home fries. for dessert we had some ice cream that came from a local ice cream shop, "sweet moses" it was simple but tasty. our check for an appetizer, 3 beers, 2 sandwiches, an order of home fries and dessert came to $61.00 which in my opinion was reasonably priced for such a good meal. the outside patio was beautiful, overall it was an excellent experience. we will definitely go again!

i went yesterday with my family. i heard great things about the restaurant and was looking forward to a wonderful meal. i was disappointed in the service it took a long for our meals to be served and the waitress forgot to place my husbands order. my salmon blt was ok disappointed with the apple fennel coleslaw too heavy on the mayo. others in my party ordered the shrimp. they said it was good but at 17.00 and only 4 shrimp was not worth the price. others in my party ordered the burgers and they said they were very good. one person raved about the crab chowder however the shepards pie was disappointing a little on the dry side not very flavorful and did not have a crispy top as described on the menu. would i return probably not. i would tell my friends to stick to the burgers.

special little place. i took my fiance and parents to stone mad pub last night for dinner for the first time. we were greeted at the door by a very gregarious and humorous gentleman who showed us who to talk to about our reservation and even opened the door for us. we checked out the outdoor patio, which is gorgeous, before being seated at our table inside. the place is just beautiful. i've been looking for an irish feeling pub since sullivan's in lakewood closed, and stone mad fits the bill decor-wise. sadly, the menu isn't really irish, but the food was excellent. my parents had the brisket sandwich, which they raved about. i had the smoked pork chop which was quite tasty, but what really stole the show was the sauteed red cabbage that comes with it. everyone at the table tried it and we were all incredulous that anyone could make red cabbage taste that sultry and amazing. we also ordered a pizza to nibble on and take home since they have a stone pizza oven, and that too was delicious. our waitress was super nice and attentive, even though it was fairly busy. i would definitely go back, maybe on a week night when it's hopefully a little slower and i can get on the adorable bocce court they have in the back room!

was there last friday for the first time. absolutely great. first our server travis was outstanding. we were on the patio and that was great. all the food was great. i had a stuffed banana peppers stuffed with sausgae, cheese, and corn laid over a marinara saucethat was just great. my main dish was a pork chop with their own barbaque sauce made with guiness and stone mad potatoes.outstanding!!! i only wish there was more of both.

my wife had a salad and a pizza from their fire burning oven. the pizza was great as well.

my wife had 2 glasses of wine and i just had a soft drink. and before i forget about the pickles they bring out with the drinks. really good as well.

overall great experience, i would recommend to anyone.

dinner and drinks came out to 61.00

we will be back with friends and we will ask for travis again.

ok, so i typically enjoy this place. i've not been disappointed with the food or drinks, but unfortunately tonight i had a very poor experience with a very curt server. it was especially unfortunate because the food was so good to everyone that had she had a better attitude, she would have gotten the tip she was obviously after as she made a point to mention to my friend that she had given the best tip! and this was even before i had signed my check! misery loves company, i guess and she most certainly put a damper on what otherwise would have been an excellent dining experience.

outstanding!!!!!!!. had dinner there last night and i was blown away with how good it was. we had the cod sandwich, home fries, salmon sandwich and mac and cheese. we also started it off with an order of crab cakes. everything was very good. the crab cake was to die for and the rest of the meal was perfect. they also have a great beer selection. i have to say that i thought there service was very good as well. we got last minute reservations and our server could not have been nicer. she helped us with the menu and made suggestions that were greatly appreciated. i will go back again! you should check this place out too.

great food / outstanding service!. what a delight and surprise!! talk about something for everyone!

the food and service --our waiter, travis --or maybe his name was trever, [sorry if i got your name wrong!]-- could not be topped on a 'packed' friday night!

we managed to get our two college-children home for one night together during 'spring break' --the start for one, and the end for the other-- and with one a vegan and the other having 'different' tastes; the menu was just perfect and offered something for each of our tastes/preferences!

we started with appetizers of mussels and a tomato-basil pizza. the only "bad" thing i can say about the mussels was there was not enough bread to soak up the heavenly broth they were cooked in! --not your typical 'garlic and wine'-- and the mussels were cooked to perfection!

while i tend to eat 'salads and sides' for dinner/course-two, it was only my 'growing', 20-year old son who finished his entree and most of his side. oh, fyi, the side of potatoes are incredible!! --the 'doggy bag' was eaten 'cold' the very next morning!!

i actually had the brussels sprouts for dinner --not vegetarian!-- and cooked in bacon but absolutely fabulous!

i would definitely go back again!

blessings,

lisa

still can’t get it right... pizza was horrid… burger excellent.. brisket dry.. never mind that the service was slow and inattentive – it flirted with being discourteous… in this area of the growing historic gordon theater district – you better be special or dry trying – this place is simply dying… take a pass there are better options

not again anytime soon..!!. quirky irish pub with a sandstone patio - same owner as the tree house in tremont. and, i do mean sandstone as everything is made of sandstone from the seats to the tables. menu is limited but has selections that most folks can find something on. there was six of us and we had a mix of three 12 ounce burgers and three beef brisket with potatoes as sides. let's start with the brisket - nicely done, moist and very tasty with what may have been fresh horseradish on the side. regrettably, the burgers were not so good, all were ordered medium - sadly, not one was delivered to the table that way - all were well done and i do mean well..! this was after waiting in the sun on the patio for about 50 minutes for our food. we told the waitress and got an "oh really, wow" type response - she looked at my burger and said "you're right". but, never did anything whatsoever. since 3 were enjoying their meals we all just decided to push on - really what other choice do you have in a larger group - but it would have been nice had someone higher up visited our table to discuss the situation. the potatoes were more mushy than crisp and had little to no taste. the chocolate bocce ball desert was fantastic and we shared three of them around the table. still with the over cooked food, lack of attention to the table coupled with a laissez-faire attitude of the staff - a return visit is highly unlikely anytime soon. eat well..!!
