special little place. i took my fiance and parents to stone mad pub last night for dinner for the first time. we were greeted at the door by a very gregarious and humorous gentleman who showed us who to talk to about our reservation and even opened the door for us. we checked out the outdoor patio, which is gorgeous, before being seated at our table inside. the place is just beautiful. i've been looking for an irish feeling pub since sullivan's in lakewood closed, and stone mad fits the bill decor-wise. sadly, the menu isn't really irish, but the food was excellent. my parents had the brisket sandwich, which they raved about. i had the smoked pork chop which was quite tasty, but what really stole the show was the sauteed red cabbage that comes with it. everyone at the table tried it and we were all incredulous that anyone could make red cabbage taste that sultry and amazing. we also ordered a pizza to nibble on and take home since they have a stone pizza oven, and that too was delicious. our waitress was super nice and attentive, even though it was fairly busy. i would definitely go back, maybe on a week night when it's hopefully a little slower and i can get on the adorable bocce court they have in the back room!
