enormous, cavernous warehouse conversion in the heart of the collingwood precinct of cafes, bars, restaurants, galleries and artisan workshops. huge bar centre stage serving to all sides and, whilst you can sit anywhere, there is an informal, discrete division where diners sit in the first quadrant and more informal drinks/eats in the other half of the building (although there is no strict demarkation).
during winter the log fires are cranking up the heat, in summer the front half has a retractable roof, all adding to a great welcoming atmosphere.
very kidfriendly(a little indoor playground is on offer) and also welcomes dogs and when its busy (most times), the place is pumping. queues form around 630/7pm at weekends.
lots of food to chose from - many pizzas, types of burgers, salads plus specials - the beef cheek with creamy mash sublime, pork rib excellent. steak and fries divine. calamari very tasty but with grated cabbage & onion on top, looks a little more of a dog's breakfast.
and all those beers! it's a beer drinkers fantasy and they recommend beer to accompany the food. my only beef (sic) is the poor wine choice for those who do not want to drink beer with their food - 4 reds but all pretty ordinary.
