sometimes "authentic" isn't a good thing. what's all the hubbub about? thefoodis decent but nothing spectacular by any means, the tables are uncomfortable and oddly arranged, beer choices are minimal and you have to wait forever for your order, which they actually warn you about! i guess if you like "quaint" and don't care about speed, quality or selection, you might like it. personally i don't care for it.

sitting in my hotel room near the airport, hungry and thirsty, i browsed through a list of mediocre options including the typical chain establishments. being the type always on the lookout for the locals jam, i noticed a spot a mile or so east, well off of "establishment row"- stella's charles ten. polish american? jackpot! what more could the wary traveler crave more than some homestyle pierogis and a crisp cold bottle of zywiec (pronounced shev-its for all you non polacks!).foodis outstanding (and cheap) service is great. i came on a weeknight and didnt experience any wait for myfoodand the barkeep kept the beers flowin. highly endorse, don't pass this gem up!

im a professional road warrior. i spend 150+ days a year on the road for work. after a 3 hour drive from dartmouth to windsor locks, i sat in my room near the airport looking at a list of "establishment row" restaurants, and losing hope quickly. until i stumbled upon stella's. i revel in finding the hidden gems, the local jams. this fits it to a t. what more does the wary traveler need if not a plate of hot, homecookedfoodand an ice cold beverage. stella's provides both with some local hospitality and a smile. some of the best polishfoodi've had outside of hamtramick, detroit. the pierogis are world class. the kraut is hot and tangy. the pickled eggs are for... diehard polacks (delish)! you can't go wrong. highly endorse! bypass all the crap near the airport and take a jaunt over to main street if you're looking for the good stuff!

where are the rest of you going. my wife and daughter went to stellas on a recommendation from a friend. well, there was only 8 people in there during dinner on sunday so i was a little apprehensive. the place was old and homey, but mainly old. i am polish and italian and i have eaten great polishfoodand great italianfoodso i wanted to try it. the golabki were $8.50 for two big pieces, and 1 piece of rye bread with one pat of butter. the cabbage was good, but the meat was hard and lacked taste, the sauce was ok. i give it a 6 out of 10. we also ordered a side order of french fries. i swear they put 10 little slices of burnt greasy home fries on a little plate with generic ketchup. i give the fries a 2 of a scale of 1-10... the pizza came out after 40 minutes and the cook doesn't have a pizza oven, so i was worried that the pizza would come out bad. bad was an understatement, the mozzarella was cheap garbage you buy in the dollar store and the sauce tasted like sun dried tomato paste, the dough was dry and tasted bad. over if you have ever tasted great pizza like modern pizza, luna, harry's, pepes or anything else that was good you would give this a 1 out of 1-10. frozen pizza in the supermarket was a hundred times better than this excuse for a pizza. this is the first time in my life i left half the pizza there. i always take it home, not this time. overall, the place costs the same as a good restaurant so why would i go there.

oh wow. just passing through late on a monday evening. pierogis are delicious and flavorful. we had both the cheese and the cabbage fried with fixins (onions, mushrooms and sour cream) fried. wanted to order more but dinner was coming. disappointed that the cabbage rolls had just sold out... we ordered the kielbasa dinner and the meatloaf dinner with tomato sauce. value and home cookedfoodjust like mom used to make. wish we were staying here longer because we would come back tomorrow for lunch and possibly dinner too!
the restaurant itself is very warm and full of relics from the past. across from the locks...
don't miss this treasure.
