don't ever order anyfoodfrom ayyapa mess...no basmati rice for biryani and packing (banana leaf and paper)is worst(banana is serving at mess not packing in it)

we were on a trip to ooty and late afternoon we were checking for some local food. this place looked rather small and too simple but lot of local people were eating here,so we decided to eat here. thefoodwas so good that we ended up going here all 3 days of our stay in ooty.
decor: don't expect much.there is nothing like decor it's a mess after all.
food:i would rate it as 4.5/5

for lunch we had what they call as meals.i ts like a thali they serve you repeatedly. two vegetables,huge plate if rice,sambar,rasam, buttermilk, papad and pickle. home cooked awsome taste.

onion roast: it's like a big dosa with potato filling

parotta with curry: southern version of north indian paratha served with chicken gravy

pepper chicken: was well made

chicken biryani:this was too good.nig plate full of chicken biryani with well cooked chunky pieces and served with extra gravy.
intact we saw a lot of swiggy guys picking up chicken biryani containers for delivery.so i guess this is there high demand dish

we also bought some homemade chocolates from here which were very reasonably priced at the same time great on taste.

if you don't mind a simple set up then this is a highly recommended place in ooty

we were looking for a home made keralafoodas this city has good population from kerala state, upon checking zomato we found sri ayyappa mess, it's a very small outlet the beauty of this place is it's a couple from kerala running this place with the support of elderly parents, the moment we went there we had expressed out intrest of tasting the kerala cuisine, the lady be her self cooked the entire orders by her self and served to us, i would say it's a very great dining experience with a tailored menu for a typical climate like ooty, if every gets a chance to come again to ooty this is the place we are going to dine again with out fail,
i would suggest if ever gets a chance to visit ooty and looking for home style keralafoodthis is the place.

the worstfoodthe delivered. before it was good. now it's like unhygienic street food. particularly rasam. instead of rasam you can use hot water. there cheating now. guys please don't order. be safe.

found this small yet amazing place in ooty. it's in a small galli called higgins road.foodhere is amazing. it's run by a old couple, they r very friendly and humble. place is local. butfoodquality and taste is very good. we tried kushka, fish fry, kottu parotha and kalaki. everything was very yum n freshly prepared. kushka and kottu parotha are must try here.
