great all around. i was pretty skeptical in going. i've heard about this restuarant a thousand times, being a nashvillian but never considered going. it turned out to be a great atmosphere, the pricing was not bad, and the filet was really great. i would recommend coming here for a date or special occasion.

sperry's is now resting on it's laurels as being one of nashville's longest and best restaurants in over 30 years. my first show was in 1971 and so i was present for its grand opening. for me and my family, it was an institution of culinary excellence and service. until now that is. last week i celebrated my son's birthday with my daughter and the experience was tragic and embarrassing. every aspect of my visit was below par and certainly not worth the $300+ that it cost us. the service was non-existent and the food was miserable. the entire night was a total bust. and so without going into details, i am feeling hurt and angry that such a noble enterprise should deteriorate into a sub par hack restaurant. never going back.

went for father's day late. food good as usual service this and the last couple of times i have been poor at best. we had to keep calling waiter for water refills, etc., he did not take care of table at all!

this is our favorite steak house and a real treat. we visit here on date night 2-3 times a year. my favorite is the filet oskar medium rare. it's always cooked perfect!! the salad bar is also the best in town - always fresh with a wide variety. i highly recommend.

our go to place for special occasions. classic old school restaurant and experience. steaks, seafood, salads, desserts and wine. all are delicious.

consistently good.  i have eaten at sperry's so many times, started back when it was the brass scales.  throughout the years it has consistently provided appealing, good food, especially steaks, prime rib and seafood.  this is not a "foodie" haven, but pure old school. 
they strive to please their customers, offering 1/2 price bottles of wine from the entire wine list on sundays and mondays.  this august they will extend the 1/2 price offer to the entire month! 
the trout is excellent, the "knob" filet with bearnaise is delicious, and their salad bar is till one of the best.  atmosphere is clubby and warm, bar scene can be interesting.  recommended.

food great/service iffy. started with escargot. they were good sized and not over cooked. i personally would like a puff pastry on top, but just a personal preference. then i had a perfectly cooked pork chop, and my friends had filet. everything was wonderful. the coconut cake for dessert was less than desirable, but the peppermint ice cream was divine. our server was just flaky. i don't understand why higher priced restaurants are accepting less than top notch servers. the money is there, so the service should be as well.

10 out of 10. this is the best place to eat in nashville. we go here for every special occasion! we love the service, we love the atmosphere and we love the food. save room for the peppermint ice cream for dessert

french onion soup was good. you cant really mess that up. the blt soup was good, however, it wad lukewarm at best.

blue cheese stuffed filet was excellent.
the waiter suggested lambchops. they were average at best. very disappointing and served with lukewarm soggy sweet potato fries.

the salad bar is just that. a typical salad bar.

the crab mac n cheese was decent. nothing to write home about. you could tell it wasnt made from scratch.

overall, decent experience. lots of old people. i expect a little more on a $150 tab. i honestly could have had an equal experience at outback.

the wine selection was great but the beer selection is pitiful. why is yazoo continued to be shoved down our throats? their beer is awful and pretty much every microbrew in the country does it better.

this old style steakhouse is dark and loud. the service was a little slow. now the good part: great steaks, crab cakes, big tasty cocktails, nice wine list which was half off the night we were there. i'd go back without hesitation.

great meal. our daughter was in town - had not seen her since christmas - so we celebrated with a special dinner at sperry's. wonderful meal and service. though we had made a reservation for the dining room, we decided we'd rather eat in the lively bar area when we got there, and the hostess most graciously made this happen for us with a minimum wait. got a great table and ordered a bottle of fantastic wine: lucente super tuscan. best deal on the wine list ($65 and tastes like a $150 wine), and sperry's is the only restaurant in town where i've seen it on the list.

my daughter has been on a vegetarian diet, so she ordered the big 16 oz ny strip - and said it was the best thing she had eaten in months. my wife ordered the stuffed sole special and found it tantalizingly good. i had an "oscarized" rib eye - which means it is topped with crab meat and bernaise sauce. this is not on the menu, but any steak at sperry's can be oscarized, and i highly recommend it. made a great steak even better.

service was unfailingly good throughout our meal. all in all, a wonderful evening.

great happy hour values. we enjoyed great deals on food and wine at sperry's restaurant last night. the benton bites happy hour menu has several excellent appetizers for $7 including a 3 large prime rib sliders served with a host of fries, an escargot dish and a salmon dish. also, the house wines were only $5.

pricey but satisfying. prime rib, salad bar, and shoestring potatoes = fat and happy

great food, service, & atmosphere. lots of carnivorous options-even the chopped steak is great. simple but quality salad bar w/ homemade dressings.
