one of the best steaks in town marinated with beer for a day or 2 and they do a really good medium rare! good family friendly environment for sunday night casual dining, highly recommended, service is excellent! friendly welcoming and accomodating

i thoroughly enjoyed my experience at speights ale house. i ordered; crispy squid & prawn twisters for the entree and black cherry chicken as my main.

the entrees were good, the squid pieces were a tad small but tasted delicious and the prawn twisters, were also a table pleaser.

overall my main was a great size, and very fulfilling. the black cherries added such a nice tough to the beautifully cooked chicken.

great place here. especially for my first visit to this area.
unfortunately some of the other people on my table were a little dissatisfied with the food.
however i found no fault in the food i was given.

i have dined at speights on 2 occasions recently and have had a positive experience both times. it has been some years since i have dined here but it did not disappoint. we were seated promptly even though we were early and the waitress very quickly explained the specials of the day before taking our drinks order. i chose the bendigo steak and my fellow diners chose lambs fry and the special of groper. meals arrived and we tucked in to a scrumptious dinner. the steak was cooked medium rare to my liking served with potato gratin and broccolini. the other meals were pronounced as being equally delicious. for dessert i chose the sticky date pudding served with a brandy snap, my friends ordered cheesecake and an ice cream sundae. all in all we enjoyed the speights experience even if it was a little noisy with the increase of patrons. i would happily dine here again.

the service was incredible, meals were cooked to perfection and so filling !! could not fault anything here tonight. quality, quantity and customer service was a+++ thank you for such an incredible experience. we can’t wait to come back 😊

very nice venue. friendly staff and the atmosphere is very chill. my 2stars is due to bad experience but i dont think it reflects how good this place is/could be.
long story short, i got a burger which was so dry and nasty i honestly could not eat it. when i mentioned to the staff member serving us all she could say is "oh that sucks" which i agreed with since i was still going to have pay for this nasty ass burger. i offered her a bite so she knew what i meant but she wasnt keen on that. anyway alot of complaining, 1 bite and $20.50 later you can see why i wasnt impressed.

staff were great yet food wasn’t. disappointed with waiting times in between sittings so take note for whoever takes bookings. this is my second time this month and the food was dissatisfying both times. will not be returning

great atmosphere and always friendly staff. on a busy night, chances are hot drinks maybe served colder than anticipated - but the ever so friendly staff really make up for it. another set back is waiting for your table 8 mins before you booked due to being a busy nite - this is an inconvenience when bookings could be booked far apart to not let customers wait. food isn’t worth ordering but a cold drink is

great service but food and was very disappointing. ordered a chicken burger which came out cold then got a replacement which came out with fatty chicken and soggy tomato. desserts also came out stone cold when they were suppose to be hot dishes. great atmosphere but ashame about the quality of the food.

a quick  drop in as by the airport. some  snapper bites and  chicken sliders and  calamari and a meat lovers pizza were enjoyed by all. service reasonably fast. the servers were pleasant. would come again. decor  worth going for.

had a lovely meal at speights ale house nelson this evening. the staff were very friendly and the small this are important as they brought a small taster of their new beer with my first pint.

the starter of beef rolls and chicken bitter bites were nice. the filing lacked seasoning so missed the umph in flavor but overall it was ok. my main of pork and cracking was very nice. pork maybe a tiny over but i am being very picky.

the ambience is the same as most of the speights houses, to dark for my liking but must be a look they are going for.

overall a lovely meal and would go back.

food was amazingly prepared; if you're looking for a little bit if a kick i couldn't recommend the jalapeño cheese balls enough and the chicken parcel was divine. other highlights were the pork belly bites and the sorbet, which was a perfect finisher to the night.
top end service; i made a reservation in advance and the manager was happy to let me alter my guest numbers as well as catering for my uncle who needed wheelchair access. everyone was very friendly and made the night that much more enjoyable.
good quality for money; for a few drinks, two entrees, two mains, a kids meal, and a dessert, we ended up paying just under $150.

awesome experience and one of our first options when looking at organising group get togethers.

very nice place, would highly recommend at any time of the day! have been here for lunch and dinner and had a great time, nice atmosphere and staff are very into it even when busy. good food, good drinks, and nice staff!

lovely staff & atmosphere as usual, but left very dissatisfied. maybe an off night in the kitchen as food was below average. dry over cooked pork bites, burnt chicken burger replaced by a flavourless burger. our smokey cheese chicken filo tasted like off fish & left us feeling ill. would recommend sticking with the pub food/bar snacks & good beer. over priced food for quality.

have been here a few times now, and impressed every time. good location, staff friendly and good food and selection of tap beer. we will be back!

came here for dinner as a group. i ordered the lamb which came with gnocchi. the lamb was tender and well cooked, though under seasoned , the gnocchi was perfect, it was soft and delicious with the sage butter and had a nice caramelization on the outside. the mint salsa that came with it was just not enough to flavour all of the lamb. service was friendly and helpful. it was freezing inside.
