southern seafood

wow wow wow. i found southern seafood just by accident. this family-run business is marvelous. the fried items are so light, crisp and non-oily due to the attention paid by the owners. they must have some fine thermometer for their fryers. on a busy day you won't mind waiting for your order. i purchase freshfishfrom them, letting them tell me what has been caught. the lump crab, claw crab or crab fingers for my crab salad are delish for my splurge(s). and if you can get out without sitting down to a combined catfish/shrimp/oyster plate you're stronger than i am. i actually brought home a couple of the catfish filets for another meal and shared with my neighbor. she's hooked. to be less guilty, their nice crisp green salad is great with any of their fried items. they also carry flavors of zatarains (reasonable price also) that i can't find anywhere else. (tip: enroute the gas station about a block a way usually has the cheapest gas in town so i always fill up!!) now if i can get mama le to put afishcombo pho on the menu or bring me some from her home!!

fresh and delicious!. we ordered the large combo: 2 pieces of fried catfish, 6 butterflied shrimp, fries, coleslaw, hush puppy, cup of gumbo, and a sweet tea. this meal easily fed 2 people, and all for $14. thefishwas fresh and and perfectly battered and fried. the shrimp were out of this world! they were soft, flaky, and simply delicious. i will be trying the shrimp po-boy next time i visit.

captain dennis baldo. southern seafood of hattiesburg ms. has the best seafood plates in mississippi if you ask me there shrimp plates are just out of this world, lisa, teresa and john really know how to cook seafood the fried shrimp andfishare cooked just right along with all the other goodies of the sea they have there at southern seafood and, if you don't like seafood they have other dishes that are sure to please any one's apatite… i'm from louisiana and have been a commercial shrimp fisher all my life and i have to say i haven't eaten shrimp that taste that good until i bought a seafood plate from southern seafood….    p.s. and the prices are hard too beat anywhere....

best kept secret in hattiesburg. i am originally from louisiana and grew up on seafood. i now live in columbia and don't get over to hattiesburg to eat often. but i just found a jewel in old hattiesburg that has absolutely the best, freshest seafood that i have ever eaten. we had fried catfish, shrimp and oysters and they were all exceptional. the staff was very friendly and helpful. i can't wait to return and try some boiled crawfish or shrimp and perhaps take home some assortment of fresh uncookedfishand shrimp.
