the food was absolutely amazing. they have a great wine collection to match with the meals. the ambiance was romantic. the dessert & espresso afterwards was just the perfect end to a great dinner.

surprised and delighted. we were in baltimore for the day as part of our us vacation and happened to chance upon sotto sopra. there were four of us for an early saturday lunch; the restaurant had a few people in there and perhaps due to the time of day about 11.45-12.30pm, maybe we just missed the lunch crowd.

for a very reasonable $15 we all took the two course option which we considered to be extremely reasonable; especially, when the beverages (iced teas and sodas) were constantly refilled.

i had one of their salads to start and also tried my partners bisque - both were very tasty, fresh and well presented. our travelling companions also were quite happy with their respective salads. for the entree, everyone else chose the panino option and each commented that it was a great sandwich. my spaghetti alla'amatriciana was tasty, flavoursome and not at all heavy as some pasta meals can be.

lastly, we enjoyed great service throughout and would gladly revisit if we ever to find ourselves in baltimore again in the future.

we went here for restaurant week lunch and it was amazing! beautiful interior, very attentive staff, delicious food. 3 courses for $20 was worth every penny and more! street parking is plentiful on weekend midday and they valet.

i have a love hate relationship with restaurant week, but never with sotta sopra . they never disappoint. we started with a bottle of wine; you’ll find it shocking that we picked a pinot noir.  the bottle has a beautiful red stone on it, if you pick your wine based on how the bottle looks – like i usually do.  quite charming.  it was a great choice for our meal – fruity and velvety, meshing well with each of our three courses. we took a while to plan our courses.  my friends are so great, we went a little more family style and had to make sure not to repeat. we started with the calamari, burrata and goat cheese salad. the goat cheese was fried into little balls.  i never think goat cheese can get any better, then they fry it.  what?  the salad is an arugula salad with roasted baby beets – gold and red.  then chef tops it with shaved fennel and a tangerine vinaigrette.  the calamari was quite tasty – fried with two dipping sauces – a garlic aioli and a spicy marinara.  it is going to sound crazy, seeing as though my first course was beets and goat cheese – but i might go so far as to say that the burrata was my favorite.  the finocchiona was outrageous – it’s a thinly sliced tuscan sausage flavored with fennel.  burrata is becoming my favorite soft cheese – made with mozzarella and cream, so you can spread it on the bread (or in this case the salami) just like butter.  i am so glad my friends like to share. for the second course, i went with my favorite thing on the menu. in fact, i love it so much, i write about it any chance i get: the ravioloni di zucca con salsiccia.  i am not sure why they called them raviolonis, because they were still those little sacchetti purse like filled pastas.  this is definitely super heavy.  i’d be shocked if you could finish it.  once again, i thank my friends for both helping me and ordering a much lighter pasta dish.  we also shared the gnocchi di ricotta – gorgeous gnocchi with a lit

classic case of an old and tired place. same boring menu of ten years ago. same boring service and same decor. put the old girl to bed. too many new places to waste $170 bucks for two people.

not my cup of tea. expensive. loud. pasta was wonderful. seafood terrible. desserts nothing to write home about. service just so so. waiter smelled terrible.

the food is good. i have been there for dinner and lunch. out of the two experiences i would say that the dinner menu is the better of the two.

funny. i read reviews before traveling. when the owner said his only bad reviews were a mad employee i laughed, read other reviews and made my reservation. the place was nice, dark, good menu. the joke was on me. my service was not good. my food just okay. my guest and i went to the bar. we had the pleasure of meeting the owner. he kept telling the employees to turn up the music. it was awful. he's nuts. i find the whole thing hilarious.

i'm the owner of the restaurant and i want to mention that there are some fake reviews written recently about us by some disgruntled employee. i would suggest you try the restaurant for yourself and decide. i have a great and very committed front of the house staff.
i'm very proud of them. you will see once you come and meet them!

food was good. it took forever. we waited around 50 minutes between our caesar salad and our dinner. the service was borderline horrible. our waitress had no idea what was going on. twice she delivered a cocktail to our table that we had to pass to the table next to us because we didn't order it. we hated the dessert. when we mentioned to the waitress that it was not at all what we expected. she acted annoyed and abruptly swiped it off the table. when going out to the valet we had to wait a long time because it was raining. as we were waiting we noticed a male waiter bringing the valet slips out for his customers. why didn't our girl give us the same token? maybe had we gotten a better waitress/waiter we would have enjoyed ourselves.

really surprised. food was good. our server spent most of her time by the bathrooms on her cellphone. although nice, she seemed a bit careless. my husband was nervous because we couldn't seem to understand her and she didn't write anything down. he was right and she brought the wrong food. we ate it anyway because we had a show. she never even realized. we rarely saw her again until she offered dessert. this was the biggest disappointment after the service. creme brûlée was eggy and weird. semifreddo tasted like all sugar. menu was uninspired. worst part was the chocolate tart. sounded good but was no better than a jello pudding cup. really terrible desserts after such good food. they need a new server and a new dessert chef.

ruined our anniversary :(. we drove over an hour to get to sotto sorpro for our 5 yr anniversary. from living in ny we had come to love food and the dining experience. this restaurant had been recommended to us and the first thing we received was a complimentary glass of prosecco, then it all went down hill from there. our waiter issac was car salesman like from the get go. we ordered the tasting menu and my husband asked for wine pairing.
my drink came and my husband was left with no drink and as the salads came, still no wine, then finally as he glanced from across the room ordered and brought the wine. my goat cheese salad was delicious, however the primi course came and we i received the wrong dish. the waiter said there was miscommunication and took the plate away. my husbands food now getting cold and still waiting for his wine pairing mind you. so the plate arrived five min later and my husband has to eat his now cold pasta. again, never asking if the food was ok....
our third course came and my husband had no silverware and no wine pairing. only after we had finished our third course did he ask if it tasted good.
desert was ordered, never asked if we wanted coffee or espresso and sat the check on the table just after my last bite without asking if we wanted anything else.
by this time there was a really bad taste in my mouth and it wasn't the food. this waiter issac ruined my special evening. my husband and i both in the hospitality industry in york and ny, we felt rushed and not attended too as we had paid $175 plus a tip in which we only gave because we know he has to tip out at least three other peoples. please beware of this server. there was no manager in site the whole 2 hours or i would have expressed this to them. i expected much more.... not returning! wasted our hard earned money!
