beautiful, if a little inconsistent. went for a friday lunch. gorgeous place; like commander's it has rooms that are all quite different from each other. also retains commanders' whimsy which i appreciate.servicewas very good. drinks were same as commander's - good. amuse bouche was delicious. oyster taco was very good. cajun queso was gritty but flavor was tasty. foie gras burger is not worth it - it's quite small and just overbearingly greasy and salty...this from a lover of things greasy and salty. i will return.

little, but delicious food. first, the foie gras burger was delicious! i don't "do" foie gras, but this burger was fantastic! it was small and expensive, but tasty. a friend of mine got the mini taco and it was teeny tiny, but again, she said it was delicious. there were 6 of us in our party and it was jazz fest weekend, so theservicewasn't great. the food made up for it though. the vibe and decor was cool too. recommend!

sobou. ok tried all but not worth a repeat. poorserviceand they realized it and gave us some pumpkin beignets gratis since it took so long for our dinner to come out. the meals while interesting were fair, nice decor but not enough to overcome the mediocreserviceand quality of the cuisine. there are too many wonderful restaurants in new orleans to go here.

i will have to say the food (boudin balls & tuna escabeche) were very good. theservicewas awful. we (my girlfriend and i) were seated quickly, but that was the extent of the quick/friendly service. our waitress either never put in our order for the beignets or forgot. the kitchen was so overwhelmed that our entrees came out 45 minutes after our appetizer. we were ignored not only by our waitress, but the maître d, and the other waitstaff. i would not recommend sobou based on the waitstaff. as i said before, the food was very good, but i expected more from a restaurant with the lineage behind its name.

great eclectic menu. i dined here on 9/28 for the second time. the menu is better than the last time, always changing. the ribs and spicy cotton candy was a big surprise. portions are small, but allows you to sample different entree's of southern gourmet cuisine. as previous reviews have stated on here about quality or quantity, this restaurant isn't an all you can eat buffet. i suspect the last two reviewers are disgruntled former employees or competition since they have recently joined urbanspoon. also, i had the same waitress that served me the last time i was here and she provided greatserviceagain.

rich comfort food. this is a great addition to the w hotel french quarter. plates are small, but rich in taste with attentive service. i would not bring the kids to this one since the environment is catered for adults and there just isn't a kids menu.

soooo not what i expected!servicewas amateur and the food was very disappointing. portions looked as if i'd ordered from a child's menu. also ordered the pink elephant martini which was on the sweet side, but pretty good. however when i ordered another, i got a completely different drink (that was red, not pink like the other) that tasted as awful as cough syrup. when i told the server, her reply was that the other bartender was just filling in for the real bartender who was now here & this is how the drink is really supposed to taste with no offer of a replacement. this was @ the end of the meal & @ this point, i was just ready to leave. it's hard to believe this restaurant is associated with commander's & the w. save your money!

fair to good. we ate here for lunch and found the atmosphere to be interesting, but the food was fair. out selections included the tuna cones, crispy oyster tacos, and the sliders. a lot of attention was given to the presentation of the food, but the flavors were a bit disappointing.servicewas good. drinks were good.

sub-par. i was truly astonished to learn sobou was owned by the same folks that operate commanders palace: theservicewas less than poor and the food was disappointing. we arrived at noon on sunday and entered the restaurant to find no one working... it took at least 5 minutes for a waitress to pass by, though she was not very concerned that we needed a table. we finally sat at the bar, and after about 15 minutes we had some drinks. the bartender and waitstaff made a huge amount of noise while ignoring us. at some point i heard the waitstaff and bartender complaining that the morning guys had failed to show up and open... a real class act.

we ordered a cup of gumbo and the cracklin's and queso. i was ready to pay for the drinks and leave after half and hour had passed and our appetizers had not been brought out... just then we got the gumbo. the queso and cracklins came out five minutes later. just to be clear: it took over 1/2 hour to get a cup of gumbo and some cheese dip....

the gumbo was good; that's the only good thing i can say about the experience. the cracklin's turned out to be pork skins - something completely different than cracklin's... the owners should be ashamed if they claim to be cajun and cannot tell the difference between pork skins and cracklins. overall, theservicewas terrible and the food was disappointing. theserviceand food were nothing like commander's palace or the palace cafe. i suspect the owner of this venue would fire the entire staff if they knew how the place was being run.

i travel a lot and find the best places to eat wherever i go ... i love creative food with ambiance and great service. new orleans is my favorite food city and i have numerous "must go" places. after one meal at sobou, i have added it to that list. so unique, exquisitely prepared and exceptionalservice(we had ahmad and could not have been happier). my butternut squash "bisque" and foie gras burger were ridiculously good. my non-foodie girlfriend enjoyed her pork cracklin's and sobou burger. the white chocolate bread pudding was phenomenal (forget what you know about bread pudding). do yourself a favor and at least try it for yourself.

simply devine. i know there are a million restaurants in nola but this is one that simply should not be missed!!!! from the modern decor to the friendlyservicemy boyfriend and i could not have been more pleased. the real winner in sobou is the innovative and amazing food. words cannot describe the delectable taste of the butternut squash beignets....this is simply a must have when dining here. i had the veal sandwich which was rich and flavorful and also had the side of fries with pimento cheese fondue dipping sauce. my boyfriend had the chicken drumsticks and it was probably the best chicken we ever had and the mac and cheese was a fantastic edition. all in all, we couldn't speak more highly of this fantastic place. we are from mobile, al and i'm already planning a return trip so we can eat here again!

meet sobou. just born in the last 6 months, this trendy, hip eatery is hard to classify. small plates, unique drinks and some great looking sandwiches does not make this a fancy dinner place, but you won’t go away hungry and the atmosphere andserviceare top shelf. we started with the yellowfin tuna cones
