soooo not what i expected! service was amateur and the food was very disappointing. portions looked as if i'dorderedfrom a child's menu. alsoorderedthe pink elephant martini which was on the sweet side, but pretty good. however when iorderedanother, i got a completely different drink (that was red, not pink like the other) that tasted as awful as cough syrup. when i told the server, her reply was that the other bartender was just filling in for the real bartender who was now here & this is how the drink is really supposed to taste with no offer of a replacement. this was @ the end of the meal & @ this point, i was just ready to leave. it's hard to believe this restaurant is associated with commander's & the w. save your money!

sub-par. i was truly astonished to learn sobou was owned by the same folks that operate commanders palace: the service was less than poor and the food was disappointing. we arrived at noon on sunday and entered the restaurant to find no one working... it took at least 5 minutes for a waitress to pass by, though she was not very concerned that we needed a table. we finally sat at the bar, and after about 15 minutes we had some drinks. the bartender and waitstaff made a huge amount of noise while ignoring us. at some point i heard the waitstaff and bartender complaining that the morning guys had failed to show up and open... a real class act.

weordereda cup of gumbo and the cracklin's and queso. i was ready to pay for the drinks and leave after half and hour had passed and our appetizers had not been brought out... just then we got the gumbo. the queso and cracklins came out five minutes later. just to be clear: it took over 1/2 hour to get a cup of gumbo and some cheese dip....

the gumbo was good; that's the only good thing i can say about the experience. the cracklin's turned out to be pork skins - something completely different than cracklin's... the owners should be ashamed if they claim to be cajun and cannot tell the difference between pork skins and cracklins. overall, the service was terrible and the food was disappointing. the service and food were nothing like commander's palace or the palace cafe. i suspect the owner of this venue would fire the entire staff if they knew how the place was being run.

my friends and i were staying at the w new orleans and wanted a quick bit before going out. sobou is practically connected to the w so we chose to eat there. we were told to wait 20-25 mins even though there was plenty of open seats but because we stayed at the hotel they were gonna try and seat us sooner. we went to the bar to get drinks while we waited. iordereda margarita on the rocks and it was one of the best i've ever had. once we sat down, the server brought menus but didn't ask if we needed anything and didn't come back for awhile. i'm not sure if they were understaffed that night (it was st paddys day). iorderedthe crispy oyster taco, which was delicious. overall, i would come back again but would sit at the bar instead.

this restaurant is the new addition to the commander’s palace family and it had been on my to do list for quite some time. i finally had the opportunity to check it out today but i was embarassingly under-dressed and was debating whether or not to try to come back on another day. however, i felt that since i had made the trip out to the quarter and had heard amazing things about this place, i’d try and see if i could get in. the man at the front desk was very sweet and let me even sit by the window. when i sat down, i was immediately mesmerized by walls and all the bottles. by the decor, you can tell that the drinks are the priority here. georgia o'keefe drink since this place is trying to be known as the bar south of bourbon st., i decided i needed to try a drink. iorderedthe georgia o’keefe which has hibiscus, st. germain, lavender syrup, and cathead honeysuckle vodka. this drink is for those with a sweet tooth. i really enjoyed my dr

thankfully, our entrees were pretty tasty. johnorderedthe french market veal sandwich with espresso-rubbed veal breast, creole choucroute charred chilies, camembert, crispy leeks and chicory coffee aioli. i only got one bite before john wolfed it down, but it tasted quite nice. i chose the sobou eggs benedict with poached eggs atop black pepper buttermilk biscuits, tasso, boudin and charred chili hollandaise. although the overall flavor was tasty, my eggs were over-cooked so there was no luscious yolk oozing out and there was only one, small bit of tasso among what was mostly boudin.

great birthday lunch!. we ate lunch here today for my birthday and i was not disappointed in the least bit! i heard mixed reviews before dining here but glad i decided to check it out for myself. as appetizers, weorderedthe duck debris and butternut beignets (4 per order). they were good, but not delicious--i couldn't really taste any duck in them, but the other 3 people at my table absolutely loved them. iordereda burger for my meal and was initially disappointed at the size of the burger, which was slightly on the small side. between the fries that weordered(with the queso dip) and the mac n' cheese, i definitely left full! to top it off, iorderedthe chocolate coma bar (see pic) for dessert while a friendorderedthe cherries jubilee bread pudding. both were delicious, but the bread pudding was a step above, and i don't usually like baked cherries. overall, i will definitely be back!
