$22.80 for one drink???. i dropped in for a retirement party in the back room. a colleague had a drink that looked tasty, and i asked the waiter to bring me one of those. it was a double vodka gimlet (don't know the type of vodka or if my colleague had specified when she ordered hers). it was quite good, i must say. the waiter took my credit card and returned it before i left. i saw no paperwork. today i checked my credit card statement and was floored to see that i was charged $22.80 for that one drink. i called and spoke with a bartender to ask the price of this drink, and he said $16-17 (if you order a double, it's the same price as if you'd ordered two regular drinks separately), but he sounded like he was guessing. i asked if there's any way it could be as high as $22.80, and he said, "oh, yeah." i'll be leaving thisplaceto the clientele with money to burn, thank you.

first visit to so. i would give so an overall favorable review. the halibut, my entree, however, has no business on their menu. it looks out ofplacenext to the rest of the culinary creations that i saw that night. the halibut, which was very small, was perched on top of about an ounce of spinach leaves. there was a citrus glaze and a peppercorn sauce drizzled on top, but that's it. it was also pretty dry. i don't blame the chef for that. i am sure it is hard to cook such a small piece of fish and keep it from getting dry. before ordering, i asked the waiter about the necessity of ordering sides, and he said that all entrees came with a side and were a "full plate." after hearing this, i decided not to order a side. that was a mistake. mine came with a side, it was just a side of an ounce of spinach. i was finished with my appetizer, i mean entree, in maybe three minutes. my fiance ordered the tuna, which was excellent. and at least twice as large as the halibut. in closing, i will probably go again. i will just stay away from the halibut.

pretty much a waste of my money. appetizers were horrible: escargot was dry and didn't have flavor. brie was not as delicious or gooey as it should be. my friend ordered the lamb and it tasted like body odor- sent it back twice, got a filet instead and the filet was medium well when he ordered medium rare. there was no explain action of the menu or suggestions on what was popular. we wanted to order cocktails and were handed a cocktail menu of "ones to come" and couldn't order a specialty drink. above all, it was my birthday and my husband had it stated on the reservation and there was absolutely no mention of that... normally i give aplacea second chance, but there is wayyyy too much to fix for me to even try to come back to pay way too much for something i could get a chilis. hell... chilis could do 2x better!

overpriced and underseasoned. i was looking forward to trying thisplaceand expected to spend money. the seafood fondue we started with was very good, but the rest....underwhelming. the food is pretentiously presented but it seems that the chef hasn't head of basic seasonings (both mine and my companion's food had the same problem--it was completely bland!). there is also an automatically added 20% tip, which for a party of two i found insulting. the location is great; the ambiance is good--now they need to work on the food. i won't be going back--for the money there are much better restaurants.

spoil me !!. looking for a quaintplaceto get away from screaming kids and the stress of life? want to get the girls together for a drink because it’s been to long? trying to impress a date or an out of towner? then, i would highly recommend so restaurant and bar then. the staff is friendly and makes you feel like a priority, like you’re the only one in the restaurant even though that is never the case. the patio is a great escape with a beautiful view of a flower garden below. the owner of this restaurant can be easily spotted in glitz and high fashionable outfits and her kindness is overflowing. veo is by far one of the best reasons to dine at so. he is the most consistent bar tender i’ve ever followed around. i recommend the primo louis filet (crab on top of steak) or the surf n turf. if you walk out of the restaurant without a chocolate sack or jeannie’s (owner) tres leche you haven’t completed such a life changing experience. we tell everyone we know, go to so!

best experience. i recently dined at so restaurant and bar located off kavanaugh. the valet parking made it so convenient for front door service. i was immediately greeted by friendly people willing to wait on me. although it was busy which i expected it to be on a weekend i waited at the bar to have a cocktail with a few friends. our bartender was veo and he was such a delight. we laughed and didnt want to leave even when our table was ready for us. needless to say, we were seated for such a treat from our waiter. he was clean cut and had outstanding manners. we never had an empty glass our anything out ofplaceon our table. the presentation was gorgeous. i have enjoyed my time there ever since and will recommend thisplaceto everyone i meet. i appreciate the southern hospitality thisplaceto offer. whoever is the owner of this establishment should feel very proud. i am thankful for this experience and hope many others get to experience it soon. i will be back!

had to wine about the delay in our food.. arrived around 6:30pm sat to an uncrowded restaurant. while waiting for another couple, we ordered a nice bottle of chateuneuf du pape to start the evening. we also asked for any "off menu" available wines for the evening. after picking a nice bottle, our party arrived and we were promptly seated.

with all going smoothly and appetizers almost completed, the server conferred with me on opening the bottle we picked earlier and planned to enjoy with our entrees.

opened, decanted, served, and our apps finished, we waited patiently for our entrees. after 20+ minutes of no food and no server, we started to notice approx 6 surrounding tables seated 10-15 minutes after us, all received their entrees. we also noticed how our decanter of wine was beginning to dwindle with each passing plate to the other tables.

amazingly after mentioning to the owner, the situation unfolding around us, our entrees were magically on their way from the kitchen.

nothing sours my opinion of aplacemore than a server/restaurant that tries to milk a table in the hopes of it purchasing additional liquor/bottles of wine by delaying a dinner order or conversely heavy pouring wines you wish to enjoy with your meal. shame on you so!!!

our food was great as always (the demi glace was salty though) but the wine situation has put us on guard for future visits.
