birthday dinner was a varied experience at sidart. saturday night, and the place was generously packed - perhaps 2 tables free. there was a centre table of 4 in the middle of the restaurant, which proved to be the bane of the rest of the diners for the entire evening. a bunch of young arrogant over-achieving medical registrars, one of which insisted on spending the entire evening baying at the top of his lungs pronouncing on all matter of patient problems - the final straw was when he guffawed "and i said i'm sure that you didn't get that gonorrhoea infection on your finger from a scratch!!" haw haw haw.. indeed sir, and that's when we decided to leave - fortunately after the last course of the 10-course tasting menu.
it was a mixed bag - the amuse bouche augured well for the evening, a mouth and texture treat of salmon and avocado - both of which i personally despise - but sidart had concocted something superb from this over-used pairing. the monkfish was acceptable, and the next course of trevally was, unfortunately very dry. the quail was the highlight of the courses - complex but well balanced - and this brings me to the problem with sidart: balance and editing. for example, the nextdishof ostrich w/ coffee, haloumi and licorice - the schmear of which tipped the balance of thedishinto the - well - distasteful. perhaps it's my unrefined palate, but someone needs to let sid know that there is a preponderance of ingredients on the plate, all of which may not necessarily need to be there. editing. that's not to say that we won't be back there soon. the creativity and flair on display in sidart's food is worthy of a another visit - just not with loud mouths around.

we came to sidart for friday lunch and had the 6-course vegetarian tasting menu. it was my first time trying indian fusion fine-dining and it was easily one of the the most impressive meals i’ve had in auckland. the service was fantastic, the food was innovative and delicious, and the presentation of eachdishwas impecable. i’ve often found the vegetarian dishes at fine-dining restaurants lacking in flavour but this was not the case at sidart. i really enjoyed the indian flavours that sid brilliantly infuses into local kiwi ingredients, it was truly a unique dining experience.

we came here for my mom’s birthday on saturday. we opted for the 7 course meal with the wine pairings. amazing service from matt as expected. the food was great. a couple dishes that were my favourite were the second fishdishand the beef. also i asked for the lychee and tamarind mock tail to have alcohol and that was a winner. i loved it. it’s my favourite cocktail. we end up staying for over 4 hours. so i suggest if you wanted to do the 7 course then book it at an earlier time.

came here to celebrate my 6 year anniversary. i think its definitely a nice place for a special date and well worth the money for the experience. we got the 7 course meal but its definitely feels like more if you include all of the snacks and the pallet cleansers.

we really enjoyed the beer (i think it was their own craft beer but unfortunately zomato has an outdated menu online so i cannot confirm.) the cocktail we ordered was also amazing – i saw a couple tables also order the same one so its definitely a popular one.

all of the snacks at the beginning was finger food, and quite delicious. they were all unique in their own way. my only complaint is that the prawn tart leaked slightly and the decorative seeds got stuck on the bottom of the tart and we were not sure if we were supposed to eat it or not (it was still delicious).
the crabdishwas a tad too sour but still refreshing. the quail and fish dishes were also cooked perfectly.
the mango lassi as a pallet cleanser was one of the cutest desserts ever. it tasted so delicious and nostalgic at the same time.
the desserts were both delicious – personal preference but i would have preferred the honey dessert (with the honeycomb gel) to finish rather than the second dessert with the dried orange.

overall, i had a lovely experience, and i think that sidart does an amazing execution of incorporating indian spices and cuisine to influence their dishes.

this place is amaaaazzzzzzinnngg. everydishfelt like flavours just exploded in my mouth. to start we ordered the discovery tour and every bit of it is a discovery into parts of my palette i didn’t know i had. to start, the bulbasaur looking wrap was so amazingly refreshing and slightly peppery 10/10. the tart with shavings on it 20/10. spinach cigar (i don’t like spinach but omg) still a 9/10 9 for the cute way it was presented. all the rest an amazing 15/10 i don’t even know if india has a jungle butdish5 tasted like sidart took me to the pacific sea and the rainforest jungle altogether 20/10

perfection. i give sidart 6 stars. i have to restrain my gushing.

we had the discovery 7 course dinner with wine pairings. it was the new indian influenced pescatarian menu and it was beautiful, tasty and inspirational.

the service was faultless. staff explained the dishes and the wine to us and it was not at all intimidating, they were knowledgeable, warm and welcoming.

the view over the city is exquisite.

the crockery and cutlery are lovely.

everydishwas so beautifully presented we thought it was a shame we had to eat it. the food was complicated but simple. which sounds like an oxymoron but it worked. each bite was a delight.

the wine pairings were spot on, complimented the food and, on occasion heightened the flavours in the dishes which extended our experience.

we didn't want the meal to end and wished we could afford to eat here more often.

i think we might have to start an "eat at sidart" bank account.

thank you, sidart team.

went to sidart on a wednesday night.
the atmosphere is lovely and the staff showed immaculate service.
i was a bit disappointed with the food, we had the 5 course tasting menu, portions were what would be expected.
some of the dishes i didn’t think were that great such as the abalone and the pork cheek.
i was a bit disappointed as i know they are related to cassia. cassia i could not fault anydishon their tasting menu.

located through a shopping mall, which seems a little strange, but then you’ll understand when you see the panoramic view of the city. the place has the feel of a converted home and is cozy yet enough space between tables. the service is great a wide variety of countries represented. the tasting menu gave a great showcase of what the kitchen were able to think up and all dishes had an experimental nature to them which meant for an exciting “what next” experience. on the whole flavours paired very well and dishes were well set in relation to each other. the menu was not too protein heavy which was good over so many courses not leaving you over full. eachdishconstructed well with flavour, texture and colour showcasing nz ingredients. the wine matching was interesting (in a good way), bringing the best nz small wineries, with cameos from aus and france. the wines were good examples of the applicable type, opposed to being those varieties with a twist, which might be an interesting way to go. priced about right, if recommend a visit and i’ve given this 5 stars.

sidart is known as one of auckland's best fine dining restaurants and has been on my list to visit for a while. after trying cassia last year (which was mind-blowing), we've finally booked a table at sidart to dine and celebrate the new yea.

we went on a thursday night and had the full discovery menu of 7 courses with a bottle of pinot noir. the service was impeccable and we actually had free appetizers and sweet bites to finish on top of the 7 courses. the degustation was executed to perfection with eachdishtasting like summer (e.g. refreshing and light flavours in the desserts, ice used in the entrees, and seasonal vegetables with the mains). my favourite was the fried scampi with strawberries, so tasty! the amuse-bouches were also very innovative with the buckwheat crackers coming out as a standout dish. both of the desserts were also memorable, with the peach sorbet with stone fruits and passion fruit custard a wowser!!

although it was faultless, it wasn't very mind-blowing/innovative in general. as i've had degustation elsewhere, there wasn't anything that really surprised me- in terms of both presentation and combination of ingredients used in dishes. e.g. the lamb with crispy kale and pea purée had been a common combination in many restaurants. the execution was perfect but i just expected some more difference and unexpectedness for a "discovery" menu at $160 per person.

still checking out degustations around town so we had to try this place. service/ambience is excellent and very fitting of the place. the staff are accommodating, they took really good care of us while the ambience is sophisticated with a great view. it is very "cosy" inside but they've done well with the space they have.

everydishwas beautiful, well timed and exquisite. when we paid the bill they gave a small bite of a zero calorie toffee which was just melt in your mouth. definitely one of the best dining experiences in auckland.

i went to sidart for my birthday dinner and it was exactly what i expected and more! i'm no stranger to tasting menus and gourmet prix fixe menus and i have to say the discovery menu at sidart at the moment, is flawless. i was expecting not to like 1 or 2 things off the menu because i am not a huge sea food fan. however, they noted my preference and altered one of the dishes to be "less fishy". the outcome was great. i loved everything i ate from start to finish. all the dishes are clearly well thought out and have a great mix of flavors and textures. i can't even name a favorite although the duckdishwas absolutely perfect. the service was amazing and the ambiance is fancy without being intimidating. i will definitely be going back 💯👌🏻!

i would say the food was pretty amazing. i can't really find many proper molecular gastronomy dining in auckland. sidart is one of the place that might be close enough to those michelin restaurants. my favoritedishfrom sidart was their parmesan ice cream and the coconut beef. which reminds me a lot of sumatran food. i wish they can do more with the place. it's cozy but it doesn't really pair with the food.

can't comprehend the fuss is all about. we had 7 course meal with interesting range of food. although the service was great they took little time to explain(rushing), the food was absolute bland. we had macadamia dish, there was neither hint of nutty flavor nor complexity. duckdish- all we could taste was salt and a bit of gourmet cream and you would expect some kind of flavours swimming in your mouth, just cream. beef fillet, medium rare was perfect and that's it, again bland no flavors infused. we had a shot of kefir and mushroom soup, this was the best of all. kale dried chips - not even close to clooney's. deserts were fine, 2/3 deserts were a citrus blast in the mouth. all in all visual presentation of food, staff reception were very good. place was a bit compact with a nice view to skytower, although the room was smoky as we entered which was from the kitchen obviously. it was definitely an experience nonethless

probably the most complex and ambitious degustation meal i've eaten. sidart ramps the flavour combinations "up to 11" deliciously and successfully. the space is cosy and elegant with a wonderful view of the auckland cbd. and the venison is adishi'll never forget
