we love this restaurant. amazing service and incredible food consistently! other fine dining establishments could learn a thing or two from sidart. the dining room is moody and intimate with one of the best views of the city from anywhere. i'm loving their "design your own tasting menu" on wed and thur nights. yum yum yum!

exceptional degustation experience!
this restaurant is a hidden gem which is located in a small arcade in auckland. you would not expect that beautiful city view before you enter the restaurant.
we had a 9 course degustation which the food and flavours were unforgettable. a few outstanding dishes to me: the cucumber and celery pickle with sorbet, the deboned chicken wings and dory fillet, the apple and licorice dessert and the segmented dried and fresh mandarin with meringue dessert. can't remember all elements in the dishes but they were just amazing.
more surprises: macaron! freshly made and assembled salted caramel macaron. they texture was the best i have ever had!
it was surprised that for this exceptionally great restaurant was not busy during a weekday. i hope they will open it in melbourne one day.
will go back there next time!

get yourself to sidart as soon as possible...it really is that simple! exquisite fine dining, beautiful views of auckland city, impeccable service, creative modern food, and a fantastic night out. dined here in june on a tuesday test kitchen evening - not only was it exceptional value for money but the staff were really interested in our thoughts of the dishes to enable them to refine and improve on all the courses. don't save this place for a special occasion, just dine here to sample one of the best, and rightly so, restaurants in the city.

it's been a while ago..
i think we had a degustation menu.. loved the entrée..very refreshing.. good customer services, presentation is definitely 5/5.. the only thing is.. it's a high end restaurant serving high end food with high end price..
but seatings are a little to crowded no privacy and space..

a group of us had dinner at sidart and we went for the 9 course tasting option without the matching wine. i won't attempt to describe what we ate but it suffices to say that there were splashes of genius with a splattering of mediocrity. the wine list was limited for a restaurant of this quality and your ability to go off menu is limited. the service was attentive but the background music was a bit strange and loud. the view over the city is spectacular. sidart is not, in my view, the best restaurant in auckland but it deserves the accolades outlined in zomato and it is definitely worth a try at least once. austin wasn't at the dinner as he had eaten earlier in the evening (i.e he wasn't invited).

there are no words to describe sidart. it has been known as one of the best restaurants in auckland for a long time. i celebrated my graduation with a degustation lunch at sidart a couple of years ago and i still rave about it to this day. it is still the best restaurant that i have ever dined at.

i still remember how incredible all of the flavours were and the service and food is immaculate.  every dish is a work of art. don’t miss out on the experience at sidart. treat someone special to a meal there – i promise you will love it!

sidart can do no wrong - i am returning tonight for the 3rd time. the creativity of sid is beyond anything i've experienced in this city, and yet perfectly executed in a way that cannot be faulted. service is immaculate, and the service impeccable. really, there is nothing more to say than bravo - you get more than your moneys worth here.

beautifully crafted degustation

we believe 'go hard or go home' when we do things
you can choose from 5 courses or 9 courses and we opted for the 9 as this can showcase the chefs skills

we went in december 2014 and was not disappointed with the menu:

white asparagus horseradish kale olive

flavours of sushi

carrot beetroot goats cheese sesame

market fish cashew calamari mushroom

quail coconut almond daikon

duck onions leeks apple

veal sirloin parsnip shitake comte

berries parmesan basil hazelnut

chocolate mandarin coffee caramel

the photos say it all

absolute favourite in auckland. been here a few times and i've yet to be disappointed. wine pairing highly recommended as the staff are very knowledgeable about the wine, where it is from and how it complements your food.well worth the money : tuesday taste test kitchen is also a must if you want to try it at a budget - i don't know any other place that does it this cheap for 8 courses.

i went to have the tuesday test kitchen yesterday night and it was one of the better "taste experiences" i've had in auckland.

first off, the bad: the atmosphere and interior was just not what i expected of a restaurants that's generally regarded as one of the best in auckland. it's quite a small restaurant, which isn't a problem in itself, but it becomes one when there are too many tables packed into the space. it essentially creates two problems: 1) you feel a bit cramped up and claustrophobic and 2) the whole restaurant becomes excessively loud. the noise levels in the restaurant would be more appropriate for one of a bar, not a "fine dining" establishment like sidart.

the food, though. just amazing. the 3 mains (duck, john dory, wagyu beef) were good, but the real stars of the night was the carrot dish and the desserts.

eating the carrot dish was like exploring an un-pioneered jungle of tastes: each spoonful introduced my mouth a new combination of tastes, something unknown but beautiful...i just didn't know what the next amazing spoonful would bring.

the desserts were just as tantalizing. whey icecream, orange jelly, freeze-dried oranges, this cruncy sugar slice thing...they say experiments, i say magic.

truely outstanding. we've been here three times in the past 5 years and each has been a magical experience. the highlight is, as it should be, sid's amazing ability to combine flavors in new and innovative ways. his palette is impeccable. the setting is intimate, and has a fantastic view of the city. this place is head and shoulders above everything else in auckland.
