busy, but good and inexpensive. i'm a big fan of middle eastern food, so i was looking forward to trying shish. youplaceyour order at the counter, then seat yourself at a table. we had trouble finding an open table, but a waiter noticed this and cleared out a pair of hipsters surfing on their laptops and nursing a soda between the two of them. i must say that after reading some of the reviews, i was pleasantly surprised by the service- the waiter was very attentive and helpful. the food was prepared fairly quickly, and brought to us as each dish was prepared, not all at once.
we tried the gyros sandwich, hummus with chicken shawarma, babaganoush, cheese and spinach pies, and the veggie shishwich. the hummus and chicken shawarma were excellent (my 5-year old couldn't stop eating it), with a large portion of chicken and a very nice fresh green salad. the gyro was also very good and very large considering how inexpensive it is. we barely touched the babaganoush, which we normally love; this version was too coarse, oily, and smoky for our tastes. the pies were made with beautifully flaky, light phyllo: the cheese pie was very good, though a bit sweet. the spinach pie was disappointing- way too bitter, and i think they used frozen spinach in the preparation. the veggie "shishwich" would have been a home run, except for the fact that it was so watery- they need to let the roasted vegetables rest and give up a bit of their liquid before putting it into the sandwich.
overall, not the best or most authentic middle eastern food i've had, but still a good experience. i'm sure we'll be back.

scrumptious!!. there were several of us attending a conference who were staying at macalester college. this delightfulplacewas half a block from our dorm. portions are generous, and they have a goodly number of typical american dishes also. several of us found theplacefor breakfast the first day and came back every day thereafter - it was that good. for people like me who like pitas feta cheese, tabouleh, and hummous, it was fantastic! try the turkish coffee for a special treat?

shish is an order at the counter type of establishment so we took ourplacein line and began to scan the overwhelmingly long menu. the chalkboard menu at shish takes up the better half of an entire wall — that’s just the lunch and dinner menu. there are two additional boards (breakfast and dessert/drink menus) hanging above the front counter. when it comes to mediterranean food, i’m not well versed. i usually go with my trusty standby, the falafel. so, i was

7.5 / 10. my girlfriend and i just got back from shish. we had the maza mix as an app which was ok; it's good humus, decent pita bread, and a lot of filler for the $. then for a main course, i had the kefta kebab which i thought might be a kebab, but instead it was a over-glorified parsley hamburger on delicious saffron rice. my girlfriend had the green curry, which was very very good. we finished with some delicious peanut butter cake chocolate turtle cake and some chilled horchata. theplacewas very busy, but service was responsive and quaint. it did feel uncomfortable when it got so busy that people were eying up our booth. needless to say i am now fat and full. so i give it an 7.5/10. worth trying again.

a delight!. i've traveled all over the middle east and this place's cuisine is fairly authentic. i recommend the maza (mezes) mix appetizer tray and the chicken shawarma wrap. i've uploaded a picture of the mezes tray.

theplaceis just about perfect. it's trendy, but friendly. service is quick.

i would say theplaceis more middle-eastern than greek, though there were greek items on the menu, too. my wife and i split the maza mix. it was served with warm pita chips. it was a meal in itself, even for two people. the best part was the falafel. okay, the yogurt-cucumber salad was the best. um, er, no the almost-too-salty-but-just-right cheese was the best.

theplaceis very family-friendly. there's outdoor seating, but it's tight, and personally, i don't like pedestrians trying to walk through the tables (with their hairy beast-dogs). there are perfectly wonderful tables inside, right by the large window. there's a great condiment section with ***quality*** paper napkins, always a sign of a excellent place.
