upscale bar food, tremendous beer options. shallo's has been on my list to visit for quite some time, seeing as how i live so close in greenwood. but i waited for the perfect reason to come here, and that was a double-date. this place could probably not be enjoyed any other way.
the clientele is a strange mix of what i would normally expect (couples in their 40's and 50's), kind of expect (families) and not really expect (teenage girls that might have just came from softball practice, not yet old enough to drink).
personally, the menu revealed nothing truly "outstanding" to choose from, both in character of food and description. but the company we were in seemed to think the opposite and so do a majority of the people i talk to about this place. but i suppose the atmosphere and largeselectionof beer (they had a ridiculously good peanut butter porter) are what draws in crowds like the one we had to fight through. oh, and for all the bigger the outside of the building appears, it's actually not that big inside. i would dare say that the buffalo wild wings down the street has more seats. that's not a bad thing, but again, the cramped-ness makes for a loud and somewhat uncomfortable environment.
overall, i liked my food alright and everybody else did too. i got the *grilled* pork tenderloin and would say that you should probably elect to just get the fried one as this one was saved by the honey-mustard sauce on it, but barely. i also liked that they make their own chips in-house, but i just am not seeing how this place is rated so highly out of almost 6,000 restaurants in the indianapolis and surrounding area. loyal customers is what i'd have to say about that!
