i will update everyone since the last review was from 2 years ago. thisplaceis awful now. i believe they have changed owners/management because i do not see any of the same employees, which is a shame because their food was amazing. to whoever is running theplacenow, get it together. seriously. check the other current reviews on the y site that is spelled like the noise people make if you get your toe stepped on. second to last time i went in, the veggie spring rolls i got were mushy and cold inside. my beef and garlic dish came out and the beef was chewy, like there was too much gristle or fat on the cut of beef. the corn chowder they served as a complimentary dish was....interesting. not bad, just strange. the thai tea was the only saving grace of the meal. i figured this had to be a fluke. i have been eating here for years and never had such a poor food experience. so i tried them one last time and experienced the same poor food quality. i got the drunken noodle with beef and the veggie spring rolls again. the spring rolls were still mushy, although warm inside this time. not good. the noodle dish and the spice was good, but it felt like it lacked on the basil flavour which definitely should be pronounce on the drunken noodle dish. beef was chewy like the last dish too. i had the corn chowder soup. again. which was strange. i remember years ago their soups rotating. i guess that got cut too...

thisplacehas seriously slipped on quality of ingredients and of their dishes. they only get 2 stars because the meal was at least edible. all in all, avoid. there is much better thai food in hr.

i thought the food tasted great. i am spending the night at the doubletree nearby and decided on thisplacefor some carryout. basil stir fry with shrimp was fresh and delicious. pot stickers and custard were also good.

two thumbs up!. my boyfriend and i are thai food fanatics and we were looking for a good thai restaurant to enjoy our evening in. after reading tons of reviews on local restaurants, we came across sawasdee thai cuisine. it has mixed reviews, but it was the only restaurant rated with 5 stars, so we thought we would try it.

the area surrounding the restaurant is more or less shady and the parking lot is quite small. so of course we became skeptical when we pulled up to the door. but as soon as we walked in the front door, the entire atmosphere changed- it really was it's own world in there. because the restaurant was on the emptier side (it was close to closing time) we were able to sit in a secluded booth that was quiet and peaceful. the decor was very authentic and exquisite. even the music choice was splendid!

now, if you are in a hurry or one of those people that expect or demand quick service, this is not theplacefor you. but if you are the type of person who understands that great food takes delicate preparation and are willing to patiently wait for excellent food this is definitely a must-go.

we ordered their thai iced tea which was wonderfully made, not the best my boyfriend have ever had but we both agreed it was delicious. we then ordered the chicken satay appetizer to start. the chicken had good flavor, but what really made the appetizer were the dipping sauces. their peanut sauce and vinegar sauce were superb. when our entrees finally came out, it was well worth the wait. i ordered the pad see eew and my boyfriend the pad thai. the pad see eew had great flavor and the vegetables tasted quite fresh. the chicken was a tad over cooked to me, but it also had nice flavor. the pad thai had okay seasoning, but the noodles were excellently done. for dessert we ordered sticky rice with mango, one of our favorite desserts. the mango slices were very fresh and quite yummy. the rice was sticky and worked well with the mango, but i prefer my sticky rice with more coconut milk than what they prepared it with. my boyfriend was not a fan of whatever topping it was on top of the rice. i believe his exact words were "it's like eating a mouth full of rocks". slightly disappointed with the dessert, but it was palatable nonetheless.

and for those of you that need to know about cleanliness and the bathrooms, no need to worry. thisplaceis very sanitary and well kept. the bathrooms, though an odd layout, were quite pleasant and there wasn't a single sanitation issue. the service was attentive, though slow at times.

overall a wonderful experience and we will be returning on our next beach trip!

thisplacewas decent for hampton roads thai, i've tried about 6 other thai places here that are worse, pad see ew and panang had average to above average taste but definitely a little on the high side as far as price. the best thai i've found here is ploy thai in newport news but i'm still searching ...

excellent. my husband and i have recently started going to this new thaiplaceand just love it. not many customers so far but we are hoping that changes soon when the word gets out about how wonderful their food is. we have sampled several of their menu items and all has been well prepared with great sauces and they are happy to make accomodations, for instance i do not like bell peppers and they were happy to leave them out for me. you would be surprised how often places get this wrong. i esp liked the pad thai and the tom kha which is a coconut soup. all ingredients seem fresh and with bright flavors. we will be going again soon.

good thai!. i came across thisplacevia groupon (currently a deal for $20 worth of food for $10). first, i'll say thisplaceis not in the prettiest of areas but as someone who has moved to the area within the last two years, i felt pretty safe.

this restaurant has only been open for a couple of months. there were no other customers there when my friend and i arrived for dinner one weeknight. the inside is tastefully decorated with seating available at the bar, square tables w/ chairs or in booths. there's a flat screen tv on one of the walls but the volume was low. they had an old norah jones cd playing quietly in the background while we were there. the bathrooms are super clean. the waitstaff were very courteous and helpful, providing additional clarification of menu items when asked.

we ordered the sampler platter which includes 2 curry puffs,2 skewer chicken satay, 2 egg rolls,3 pot stickers, 2 chicken fingers. i wasn't too thrilled by the chicken fingers but it's an acceptable item if you're dining with folks who aren't used to thai food.
we substituted thai dumplings for the curry puffs since they were out that night. my friend ordered the mas sa mun curry (the most popular thai curry spices with coconut milk, onions, potatoes, carrots, peanuts) which is a nice mild curry for those who aren't too keen on things with a kick. however, there was a note in the menu indicating customers can specify the level of heat they want in their curry. i can't remember what i ordered but i'll post the picture above. we finished our dinner with the thai custard for dessert. i wasn't sure what to expect with the custard since i'd had the same dish at a different restaurant the week before. totally different but still enjoyable. this one was very similar to flan.

all of our food was delicious and the service was great, but that's probably because we were the only customers. :) i ordered takeout on my 2nd visit (got the mas sa mun curry) and received great service then as well. staff are extremely gracious and asked for feedback on both my visits.

if you're in the area of military circle, please give thisplacea try. i'd hate to see them close their doors before the public has a chance to discover them. and if you're reading this during the month of november check out groupon for a deal.

greatplaceto dine in even outside look alittle bit old but inside is nice and well clean, food and service are outstanding!! you should try. average $7-15
