i will update everyone since the last review was from 2 years ago. this place is awful now. i believe they have changed owners/management because i do not see any of the same employees, which is a shame because their food was amazing. to whoever is running the place now, get it together. seriously. check the other current reviews on the y site that is spelled like the noise people make if you get your toe stepped on. second to last time i went in, the veggie spring rolls i got were mushy and cold inside. my beef and garlic dish came out and the beef was chewy, like there was too much gristle or fat on the cut of beef. the corn chowder they served as a complimentary dish was....interesting. not bad, just strange. the thai tea was the only saving grace of the meal. i figured this had to be a fluke. i have been eating here for years and never had such a poor food experience. so i tried them one last time and experienced the same poor food quality. i got the drunken noodle with beef and the veggie spring rolls again. the spring rolls were still mushy, although warm inside this time. not good. the noodle dish and the spice was good, but it felt like it lacked on the basil flavour which definitely should be pronounce on the drunken noodle dish. beef was chewy like the last dish too. i had the corn chowder soup. again. which was strange. i remember years ago their soups rotating. i guess that got cut too...

this place has seriously slipped on quality of ingredients and of their dishes. they only get 2 stars because the meal was at least edible. all in all, avoid. there is much better thai food in hr.

hidden gem. it's worth a wander away from the main area. best pad thai we've had in norfolk so far! very authentic food.

the right place. everything was excellent. i like this area.i recommend the crabmeat fried rice and padwoonsen. i had a lot of picture for your choose. in the picture have wonton soup, woonsen, padthai, dunken noodle, green curry, sweetandsour.i liked spicy for here. they had four levels for hot food. i loved thai hot so crazy

best cuisine i have had in many, many years. emma provided wonderful service and i highly recommend you ask for her. i had no idea what to order and she recommended the crab fried rice. there was no wait at all for the food to be done. and it was the most succulent, delicious plate of food. my mouth exploded with flavor. the rice was so juicy and full of taste. the crab. the layout of the plate. beyond perfect. great portions, for an amazing place. i will come back again!

i am staying in the area on business and decided to give sawasdee a try for dinner tonight, based on some favorable online ratings. the service was very prompt and friendly. i started with an order of shrimp fresh rolls. they were average, served with a hoisin based sauce (i prefer peanut sauce, but have had them served with hoisin before). next was the tom kha gai soup with chicken. unfortunately, the soup lacked any flavor and was mostly onion! i must admit it was the worst i've had in any thai restaurant, and i've been to many. the mango curry chicken had some good heat, but like the soup, really lacked flavor. so i unfortunately have to give sawasdee a thumbs down. maybe i caught them on an off night?

i've eaten at probably close to 20 different thai restaurants all over va (richmond, nova, & tidewater) and this is hands down the best. the drunken noodles are amazing along with the cashew chicken and thai basil chicken. always great service and the pricing is fair for thai food. i just wish i didn't have to cross the hrbt to get here.

i thought the food tasted great. i am spending the night at the doubletree nearby and decided on this place for some carryout. basil stir fry with shrimp was fresh and delicious. pot stickers and custard were also good.

odudave. best thai food i have eaten this side of hawaii. fanatic corn soup, authentic drunken noodles and unreal pot stickers! sticky rice vould have been warmer but the mango was perfect! servicrcwas excellent. serves very large portions at lunch.

don't miss it!. "best thai food outside of thailand" according to neighbor who cooks thai regularly at home and lived in thailand for several years. we tried it and we loved it...twice! what a great find...clean, great service, fresh wonderful tastes (they grow their own herbs on-site). everything we had was really good: flavors, presentation, etc.. if you like thai, you'll love sawasdee.

entrees were pretty good. we got the curry duck and cashew chicken. we would come back a million times to have some more dumplings and coconut chicken soup.

delicious thai food in an authentic setting. recommended for all traveling thru va beach area and if i were local, i'd be here weekly!

my husband and i came here not really knowing what to expect and it was great! i got the pad thai and he got some curry. the inside is really nice, and i liked that there were actual flowers at the table.

two thumbs up!. my boyfriend and i are thai food fanatics and we were looking for a good thai restaurant to enjoy our evening in. after reading tons of reviews on local restaurants, we came across sawasdee thai cuisine. it has mixed reviews, but it was the only restaurant rated with 5 stars, so we thought we would try it.

the area surrounding the restaurant is more or less shady and the parking lot is quite small. so of course we became skeptical when we pulled up to the door. but as soon as we walked in the front door, the entire atmosphere changed- it really was it's own world in there. because the restaurant was on the emptier side (it was close to closing time) we were able to sit in a secluded booth that was quiet and peaceful. the decor was very authentic and exquisite. even the music choice was splendid!

now, if you are in a hurry or one of those people that expect or demand quick service, this is not the place for you. but if you are the type of person who understands that great food takes delicate preparation and are willing to patiently wait for excellent food this is definitely a must-go.

we ordered their thai iced tea which was wonderfully made, not the best my boyfriend have ever had but we both agreed it was delicious. we then ordered the chicken satay appetizer to start. the chicken had good flavor, but what really made the appetizer were the dipping sauces. their peanut sauce and vinegar sauce were superb. when our entrees finally came out, it was well worth the wait. i ordered the pad see eew and my boyfriend the pad thai. the pad see eew had great flavor and the vegetables tasted quite fresh. the chicken was a tad over cooked to me, but it also had nice flavor. the pad thai had okay seasoning, but the noodles were excellently done. for dessert we ordered sticky rice with mango, one of our favorite desserts. the mango slices were very fresh and quite yummy. the rice was sticky and worked well with the mango, but i prefer my sticky rice with more coconut milk than what they prepared it with. my boyfriend was not a fan of whatever topping it was on top of the rice. i believe his exact words were "it's like eating a mouth full of rocks". slightly disappointed with the dessert, but it was palatable nonetheless.

and for those of you that need to know about cleanliness and the bathrooms, no need to worry. this place is very sanitary and well kept. the bathrooms, though an odd layout, were quite pleasant and there wasn't a single sanitation issue. the service was attentive, though slow at times.

overall a wonderful experience and we will be returning on our next beach trip!
