sambuca

we had a great time saturday evening dancing at sambuca uptown. the band we were going to see had an emergency so they switched bands. it was not a problem, the fill in band was also agoodone. the dance floor is a little small but it accommodated all. we were drinking wine and our waiter, rene, suggested some nice bottles for our group of eight. highly recommend this place for a night out.

we have always had agoodtime here but this time our waiter tried to steal $90 in cash on our bill for three couples we always tip great but this guy was a thief.

i went to sambuca early in the week for a birthday party. this is definitely fine dining. the interior is beautiful, and they have an interior courtyard and large bar area. they have their own parking lot and valet service. a live band played the majority of the time i was there, and they weregoodartists. i had acapulco shrimp and mashed potatoes appetizers. very yummy. salmon was popular at my table.

never again!!!. we were visiting dallas and asked the concierge at our hotel to suggest a great restaurant to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. she suggested sambucas.

we drove up and had to get one of the many valets attention to park our car as there is no self parking. they make sure they collected our $5 up front to move my car 10 feet into a parking spot. ok, we get that many restaurants have valet only but even that service was awful.

we then walked in to the restaurant and were greeted by 2 hosts. we told them how many in our party and then asked if they could keep the special birthday cake we brought in in the back until after dinner. after a few smirks, they informed us that there would be a $30 charge for "outside" desserts...we laughed because we thought they were joking - they weren't.

then the host ( and i use that term loosely) escorted us to a table in the middle of the bar/dance area. we asked if we could have a regular table. he appeared to be very put out that we would ask for a table instead of a bar table.

the waitress was very nice and providedgoodservice for dinner ,however we had to send back the lobster enchiladas as they had the texture of rubber. i had the chicken parmesan and i've had better at olive garden.

the final straw was when we got our car from the valet and my daughter accidentally tipped the valet with a $10 and $5 bill instead of 2 $1's ( it was dark and she couldn't see). so much for honesty as the valet quietly kept the $15 tip which he had to have realized was a mistake.

we're relocating to dallas and are looking for new restaurants to take visiting family and friends to - sambuca's won't be one of them...

overallgoodtime. the food was excellent and so was the atmosphere. i'm a huge live music fan so i was excited about that aspect...until we were seated directly next to the stage. it was a little too loud, but that didn't stop me from having agoodtime. just don't sit right next to the band! i recommend the mediterranean lasagna if you're not a huge meat lover. it was perfect!

great band. was in sambuca in uptown on saturday night. the band was awesome! the weather was a mess but it was warm and friendly inside; the bartenders were great, my pizza was asgoodas it gets and i iove the ambiance. the valet was only $3, which in uptown is practically free! i will be back soon to try their happy hour.
