this is a very good place forindianlunch buffet. it has nice combination of veg and non veg items, i had chicken laban, aloo tiki (it was only item that was average), chili chicken, lamb rich an josh, paneer, fish curry and naan. chicken and lamb were delicious and very well cooked. paneer curry was very yummy. overall, curries were a bit buttery but tasted very good.
this place is better than the one in fremont.

food was great, good interiors and hope service improves a bit.

sakoon as the name suggests will firstly give your eyes a lot of “shauk”. i have been there quite many times, and their spread has never been disappointing! although i have seen many “shakahari’z” crib, i still feel having one complete row when there are two, and most starters catering to them is comparatively “tareef-e-qabil”.
the tandoori chicken is “lajawaab” and deserves a “boht khoob” !and so is lamb and other main courses! “aur” the sweet dishes to end are comparatively “ala”.
being one of the well knownindianrestaurant in and and around mountain view, expect it to be “hara-bhara” in the weekends. prior bookings are recommended.
finally, give your appetite forindianfood a chance and your belly to opportunity to feel the “sakoon” that this restaurant has to offer!

the food itself tastes good and the menu has a good spread. the ambiance is also pretty good unless you're shoved to the rear of the restaurant at which point you must just ask them to be re-seated. the pricing is way more for what they offer. if you really want to have a wholesome experience, try their lunch buffets which offers a variety of authenticindiandishes.

what we went for: family dinner after a visit to the google office

ambience: pleasant, filled to the brim on a monday evening with mostlyindianorigin folks, the 1980’s inspired fibre optic light decor caught my eye..

what we ordered: paneer tikka, grilled meat platter, chettinad chicken, butter chicken, biryani, rice, bread basket, lassi to go around

price: usd 300 for a family size of 10

verdict: seating took a while which was disappointing but given our group size and lack of reservation i really should not be complaining ; service was polite and helpful..
the most important test- the food ...was out of the world!!!!
the bite, texture and taste of the paneer tikka was divine.. all life’s follies were forgotten in that blissful bite...
the grilled meat platter was equally succulent.. the fish was flaky, steaming and just unbelievable!!! i had somehow unwittingly stumbled upon the best north west frontier food from theindiansub continent all the way in mountain view, california!
i am not joking but every single dish was simply outstanding!the malai kofta in my opinion was worthy of my high praise thought my fellow diners were not as convinced!
the biryani was brilliant too.. but i had eaten enough and as much as i wanted to stuff my innards with all this deliciousness, i had to finally reluctantly say enough!

would i return?? just for this restaurant yes i would all the way from dubai:)...

mountain view where google is headquartered is an amazing city and what gave us sakoon here was theindianbuffet we tried. the spread was huge and the value for money amazing. father's day treat at sakoon and dad was the happiest! a special mention for the butter chicken and the chilli fish which had me hooked! what amazed me was the taste and texture of food and the curries was as close as you get back in india. a great value for money restaurant, this place is highly recommended forindianfood in bay area if you crave it often.

this is the place where you introduce theindiancuisine to your colleagues or your date. great food quality, and a happening ambiance. i had the veg jalfrazi and it was a great relief from having paneer dishes again and again and againn and again.

this is a perfect place if you are looking forindianfood. i was kind of surprised when they served tomato soup in a kettle like item but the taste, it made my taste buds dance. the snacks are the best part of this place. the food and ambience is nice. it's just that i felt it a bit costly as compared to other restaurants.

geeat place forindianfood. had been to mountain view on a sunday afternoon for lunch. sakoon is in a nice place and food is awesome. great selection of food, tasty... unlike most restaurants that try to make food tasty by making it spicy. lot of seating space and courteous staff too. must go for people going to bay area.

bestindianrestaurant of bay area. i am not a huge fan ofindianfood, but i have to say that sakoon has won me over! after dining there last night, i can say that it is, without a doubt, the bestindianrestaurant that i have ever dined in! although i also love amber india, sakoon is probably a notch above in terms of ambiance, food, and service. it may have helped that we were some of the first diners to arrive last night, but the waiters and management made us feel like we were celebrities! first the manager came over to talk to us, and then she brought the owner over! the waiter was very attentive, but not hovering.
menu items
1.samosa. ( 2 thumbs up! 10 out of 10)
2. scallops ( 2 thumbs up! 10 out of 10) all the flavors are just perfect in your mouth!
3. paneer kundan kalai ( i give it 8/10) it was good, but i thought it could be a bit spicer.

buffett items
1.kashmiri roganjosh ( 2 thumbs up! 10/10) nice chunkey pieces of meat cooked to perfect tenderness melting in your mouth! mmmm
2. peppered fish curry (11 out of 10 on this one!) i loved this one. nice tender pieces of fish mixed in pepper andindianmasala with hints of coconut milk in it. this dish went great with the coconut rice!!
3. coconut rice (11 out of 10) goes we'll with almost everything!
4. raita (12 out of 10) lets just say i never had grapes mixed in with raita. oh my god, i love yogurt, and this dish i can eat all day. just give me the coconut rice or their naan and i will just sit there and enjoy eating something as simple as this. wow!
5. naan (9/10) not bad soft and chewy.
6. pani puri (7/10) big fan of it, but they are okay on it! still a hell of a deal in this buffect.

dessert from buffett.
you do have alot to choose from.
i had the gulab jamun and the rice semia

1. gulab jamun 10/10 just melts in your mouth and not over sweet.
2. rice semia. looks like pearl bubbles in this dish. but the texture is very soft and this is a very refreshing dish, and also not too sweet, but just right.

in all i ate alot today. i don't feel sick. i feel happy. the buffett costed us $21 bucks each. and about 35 bucks for the other items. with tip and everything on this father's day i spent just $100.00 for all this lovely food. it was an awesome deal. i found the website and i want to go back and try all the food on this menu. very exotic types of dishes. different from your gaylord's and amber's. shiva's across the street doesn't even compare.
