interesting indeed. i have never had vietnamese food before but i do eat japanese and chinese so i was excited to see what it was like. i ordered the goicon for an appetizer and garlic chicken with lo mein for my meal. the goicon was very different it is a pork and shrimp roll wrapped in rice paper. the rice paper had like a mint after taste i wasn't too fond of, it was just so unique i don't even know how to feel about it. the garlic chicken wasn't any different than a typical chinese garlic chicken meal, it was drenched in the sauce with mushroom, onions pea pods, water chestnuts and cauliflower. it was pretty good . my favorite part of the meal was the lo mein noodles very good flavor i thought. i friend ordered the spicy chicken lo mein and i woiuld like to say it was good but i don't i could taste much because when they say spicy they mean it. beware unless your a blazin wing at bdubs kind of person watch out for their spicy stuff.
all in all i would like to go back it was different but good.

great vietnamese food!. i love this place, even though it's a little out of the way for me i make the extra trip just to get their spring rolls. pho is also really good, i've never had bad service here.

saigon- local favorite. always busy. enjoyed by painters, mechanics, lawyers, and police officers alike. very diverse crowd. hole in the wall restaurant and i refuse to use their bathrooms but love their food. don't want to white-glove the place, but we go repeatedly and my kids love it.

the absolute best crab rangoons anywhere-- with a bit of a sweet taste. love their #11 soup and the thai seafood soup that says "hot" next to it (but isn't very spicy--just complex)--- has tons of shrimp, pineapple, and something that tastes a little bit like fennell in it. (description doesn't sound like anything i'd ever order, but my husband convinced me i'd love it and it is awesome.) love love.

everyone must try the eggrolls and vietnamese coffee! soup comes with fresh cilantro, jalapeños, bean sprouts and sliced lime...as if the broth isn't good enough already!

gem in the middle of bad midwest food. went there a few weeks ago with my wife and 3 year old son after hearing good things from work associates and was not let down. i looked up the place here on urbanspoon and read many comments about the bad service, but if you are polite and act like a decent human being, they will take care of you. be patient and you will get what you want, you may need to ask for a refill on your drink but you will get it. the food was very flavorful, authentic, and fast. i got basically the deluxe pho and my wife got chicken lo mein. we ordered crab rangoon and egg roll appetizers which were very good. they used spring roll wrappers for their egg rolls which was a welcomed surprise. this place is great and if you give the waitresses a chance, they will take good care of you.

it was good bang for the buck. i was craving some chinese this week and went to saigon. while my egg roll was over cooked, the filling was really good. i throughly enjoyed my kung pow pork. the biggest surprise was the chopsticks. usually, you get the wooden ones when you ask for them. here, you got the ceramic ones which made the experience that much better.

this is our favorite!!. my husband and i frequented this place when we lived in the area and it's been consistent every time. the hot & sour soup is sooo good, the dishes we've had were always good, i wasn't disappointed with anything i've ordered there.

we always had to order the "bubble tea". it's particularly good to enjoy during the summer months, but it's a hit with us when we go there - yum!! i'm so sorry that they are not near us anymore, so we can't go there much anymore... :(

excellent spring rolls & pho soup. my wife & i are used to eating in vietnamese restaurants in boston and worcester where there are many to choose from. we came across this place while passing through portland and were delighted. we started with an order for each of us of spring rolls. these are only to be found in a vietnamese restaurant; it's veggies, shrimp and sprouts surrounded by a translucent wrap. you then dip it in whatever sauce you like. i prefer the peanut flavor sauce, my wife likes the red hot pepper sauce. we were also served herb tea and an appetizer soup. we each ordered a pho soup. i had the small size, but it came in a large bowl and was plenty for me. perfect for a cold winter day. the service was prompt and friendly and the whole place was ultra clean. as we go by portland often, this will be a regular stop for us
