servers use same cloth cleaning tables with the same cloth with which the seats are wiped. menu pricing aren't updated. less meat was given in pho soup, less chicken in sweet and sour dish, and less of everything in ingredients but price has gone up. great way to take customer's hard earned money and assuming customers aren't smart enough to know the difference. increased your price but lowered the ingredients, you shake down the cost onto the customers. but i was still going to therestaurantand ignored all that flaws. until they are starting to get every penny and cent out of random customers. i haven't paid much attention to my bills at saigon until over the weekend eating at saigon, i realized they automatically add hidden tips/fee to my final bill when tipping should be voluntary, not forced. we didn't have large parties, hidden tipping/fee were added to even single/two person diners. saigon will also add their desirable amount of tipping onto your bill without your knowledge or consent.and they are selective on which customer they does this to. this has become common occurrence to few of my friends who dine in here regularly. but this is the first time this has happened to myself. i have toldrestaurantworker about this, and told them customers should have the right to tip however much they see fit with the exception if it is a large group/party. their responses was you didn't give tip and our worker works hard. i think we all have worked hard for our money, so that's irrelevant response to why you could put down any tipping amount onto a customer's bill. and if the service wasn't good, why should a customer been forced to tip? she refused give me the print out receipt. only willing to give me back the tips that she took. i didn't want the tips back. i wanted the receipt. in the end she still wasn't willing to give me that print out receipt has a proof of her adding the tipping amount on and only willing to write on a piece of paper of what i ordered.
not going to come back. i've been eating here for years, and sad to say, saigon it's not the same as it once were.

delicious food and attentive caring owners.. being from california and eating vietnamese food and pho several times a week, i was not getting my hopes up for finding great pho in maine. what a nice surprise and a great find! delicious and expertly prepared pho, fresh meats, veggies and and perfect broth. their homemade "spicy" satay sauce (a sauce you can choose to dip into or add to your food for spice and flavor) was the best i've ever had and of high quality. delicious vietnamese style chicken wings are hard to find anywhere but saigonrestauranthas "chicken wings in garlic and tamarind" (a fruit type spice from a tree). hard to describe, but a dark sweet and slight sour sauce and garlic over a fried wing. they were very unique and tasty. the owner is in the store and cares that your dining experience is a great one.

terrible service for long time customers. we had been long time customers of saigon restaurant, taking many friends and family there over the years. one evening i called to order for pickup and drove 25 minutes to pick it up. after driving the 25 minutes back home found the the rice papers for the pork roll dish were not there. i called and told them that they were missing and the meal could not be eaten without them but i was not driving back 25 minutes to get them. after much discussion i was told that the next time we were in we would receive a free meal. the next time we went and explained to our waitress about the free meal she went back to the kitchen and discussed this with the owner and came back out and said we would not be receiving a free meal. the owner (whom we had spoken to numerous times and felt we had a good relationship with) would not come out of the kitchen, only relaying through the server. after such disregard for long time customers over something that was clearly their mistake, we will not refer anyone to thisrestaurantalso we have not and will not be back.

unbelievably good food, amazing service, reasonable price!. i noticed that thisrestauranthad an excellent rating and decided to give it a try. the moment i walked in the door, i was immediately charmed by the cozy, out-of-the-way feel -- and the delicious scent of the meals being served.

while i waited, a waitress brought me over a cup of tasty lotus tea, and a man placed in front of me a cup of quite possibly the most delicious cup of soup i've ever had. i settled in for what i thought would be a long wait since i ordered three entrees and a couple of appetizers. but i hadn't even finished my soup when the food came out, less than ten minutes later--and that was only because one of the entrees i'd ordered was apparently more "time consuming" to make. they were very friendly and welcoming and unlike many times i might order takeout, where you feel awkward and out of place while you wait around for your meal, i actually enjoyed the experience. considering it had been one of the hardest weeks of my life, i appreciated their collective kindness and great attitude.

the drive to my destination was close to torture, so overwhelming were the delicious scents coming from the bag in my back seat. i drove a little faster than normal, risking a speeding ticket to get it to my boyfriend's house sooner so i could try it.

i barely got in the door before we both ripped into the bag and dove into the feast like two starving beasts. normally, we have more manners and decorum, but honestly, the food was so damn good, it should have a warning label. i had the bun bo nuong (vermicelli with roasted beef), which had the most flavorful and deliciously spiced beef along with a generous assortment of shredded lettuce, mint, cilantro and pickled vegetables. my counterpart had the vit quay chien gion sot (roast duck with sweet and sour sauce). our dinnertime conversation, which is usually philosophical and interesting, consisted of "mmm. oh god. so good." rinse and repeat.

"where did you find this place?" my boyfriend asked, the first complete sentence he'd uttered in nearly a half hour. "that's the best vietnamese food i've ever had."

was he ever thrilled when i reminded him that he still had some egg rolls and another entree waiting for him. but he was too stuffed to even consider it.

his two standard poodles sat dejected in the corner, pouting. you see, he usually gives them a taste of his meal. but not this time--he was not in the mood to share a bite. better luck next time, guys.

i don't know what my dreams consisted of last night, but i seem to remember dancing in fields of mint and cilantro. a happy tummy usually equals happy dreams.

you would think that a meal of such quality would cost you. but three entrees, two of which were seafood and duck, plus two appetizers cost a little over fifty bucks. pretty reasonable, i'd say.

my sage diner's advice for the day? you need to try this place.

terrible experience. a favorite location for my wife and myself for years, but no longer. drove 20 minutes to order and carry out food. placed the order with a young female hostess and left with what i thought was all of my food. big mistake. i assumed that she would have confimred what was placed in my bag. i drove 20 minutes back home and discovered the spring rolls had shrimp in them instead of the vegetarian ones i ordered and my wife's beef rice noodle soup was not in the bag at all. drove 20 minutes back to therestaurantand had them cook an entire new order. they offered me about $3.50 compensation which was a disgrace and truly demonstrated how much i mean to them a s a long time customer. after nearly two hours total in travel and order time the entire meal should have been on the restaurant. i even gave her a $4 tip for simply putting the food i ordered into a bag which she failed to do. the young female hostess should find a new line of work. she tried saying i did not order the soup at first, but i reminded her about our conversation surrounding the soup after i stated that i wanted it. when i asked to talk to the manager she stated there was not one. what? very disappointed since we have always enjoyed eating there, but there are many other restaurants i the omaha area and i am sure we can find another one that will appreciate us much more.

bad service. i went so many times for therestaurantbecause of good food. but recently when i went with my family the food was not good as before and to my surprise for 3 people they charged 18% service tax. when i asked them they were very rude and saying we changed the policy charging 18% service tax. so how i didn't like the new people and the taste was not good as before. so be careful about the new service charge.

unexpected surprise. we were looking for a sit down orientalrestaurantand happened to find this one listed close to where we were. it would have been worth the drive whether a mile or across town. the waiter, yujid (jerry) explained the menu, gave helpful advice and was very respectful of our lack of knowledge of vietnamese specific menu items. he made several suggestions- we had the seafood lo mien, sweet and sour pork and cashew chicken. we didn't go adventurous for food choices, but what we had was excellent. good ingredients, fresh vegetables and cooked to our liking. i would recommend this and will go back again. it was clean, friendly and was an actual sit down restaurant- not a buffet.

favorite vietnameserestaurantin omaha. we’ve had lunch at thisrestauranta couple of times. the appetizers are excellent. the noodle soups have a rich and luscious broth and the rice dishesare some of the best we’ve tasted. on the down side, there is a definite odor of heating gas or oil. reminded me of shopping in seoul, south korea back in the old days. it’s off-putting but one gets used to it within 15-20 minutes. and the first time i ordered the seafood noodle soup, the broth was lukewarm and the shrimp still cold; the taste was excellent though. it was a cold wintery day and i really wanted some piping hot soup. we mentioned it to the waitress when we paid the bill and she said the next time to let the staff know and they would immediately correct it. the next time we visited, i ordered a different noodle soup and it was piping hot...so delicious. therestaurantis clean and the service attentive and pleasant. the location a bit far for us to drive, but the food is worth it. we’ll be back!

i intended to go to the loft the other night, to pursue this burger that is served on a donut instead of a bun. i have not given up on my mission, but on this night, the loft was closed (rat infestation? doesn't phase me), and i was momentarily stymied, since i was on foot.  faced with the relatively bleak dining options of out forest avenue (dominos? takeout?), i was excited to see saigon, a vietnameserestauranti haven't tried. i wrote about the pho at thanh thanh 2  during an o-rama, but have yet to make it across the street to the other vietnameserestaurantin that block.  some fairly standard soup, dumplings, and crab rangoon started out our meal. they didn't indicate much about the quality of the food to come - they were fine, but forgettable.  a. and m. ordered pho, which came accompanied by a giant plate of fresh vegetables and herbs to add to the soup.  m. fixed his soup and dug in, but a., not having had pho before, was a little slow to start. one of the employees, maybe se

best place in town. though portland is considered a "foodie" town, i am often hardpressed to find a place i feel comfortable going back to. i have worked in food service for more than a decade and am often baffled by the "its very annoying to have to wait on you and be even remotely good at my job" attitude of most portland servers. i was soooo pleased and relieved to go to arestaurantthat not only serves a great product, but actually acts nice to you and even seems like they really really want you to come back. it worked for me at saigon. went two days in a row in fact and can't wait to return. been trying pho all around town and this place is definitely the best. keep it up folks!

won't go back!. we bought an amazon voucher to eat at the saigonrestaurantbut when we went there they told us that the voucher had already been used. we had never been to therestaurantand had not used the voucher. what a rip off.... unfortunately for us, they would not honor any part of the voucher. we stayed to eat, but will not return because of their lack of customer service. too bad for them... we totally would have made this one of our new favorite restaurants! i hope they're happy with saving $15 and that they feel they have a big enough customer base they can turn new customers away!

cheap gourmet. i convinced an older friend who is still a little cautious about unfamiliar food to join me for lunch. the decor didn't reassure her, but when she tried the homemade eggrolls and tasted the fresh veggies in the shrimp fried rice, she was in love. i have been going through the soups one by one, as customizing your bowl with the little plate of fresh bean sprouts, jalepenos, thai basil leaves and a lime wedge, and them using the condiments that are on the table such as hoisin sauce, sambal and chili sauce is so enjoyable and keeps the heat where you want it. you are not going to find a better deal for asian food in ft. wayne!

try saigon!. going to saigonrestaurantwas a happy accident, but one i'm glad we made. i didn't know soup could taste so complex. we asked out server, a young woman, avout many of the dishes, and she took time to explain what the differences were. the price is truly great, if you look at recipes for some of the soups you could spend $15/ 20 trying to make them yourself. so much healthier than any chainrestaurantor fast food joint.

wonderful place!. great place! reason i am writing the review is how impressed we were with how they took the time to help us properly enjoy the main dish. this was our first time in a vietnameserestaurantso our background was basic at best. often we choose things on the menu that we are familiar with and wont deviate for fear of the unknown, this place is the place to give something different a try. they showed us how to blend the extra ingredients such as a little ginger and pepper spice to give it just the right flavor and just the right kick. so many places will serve and come back at the end but they were so friendly even though it was one busy place.  place was very clean with silverware that was better than home, price was not bad at all hence a nice tip was very easy to figure in.
this place made trying new cuisine a fun delicious experience. looking for a new place to try? this is a must to put on the list :)
