rudys cant fail cafe

gustatory. great place for traditional vittles. kid friendly. reasonably priced. went back in 2015. not as tradional as i previously stated. stillgoodand bustling.

we ordrrd the rudy's special and it was delicious. the bacon was reallygoodand costumer service was fantastic.

fun place and very casual. i've read the reviews and i've eaten here many times. so i will add my impressions.

rudy's is a certain kind of place. there is no other quite like it. i realize tattoos are elective body art but fail to see how their presence or absence can possibly affect one's dining experience, other than to provide an extra visual dimension of an artful nature.

on to the food. the portions are large, and i have never felt there was inadequate meat or other protein in the protein plates. their mocha drinks are some of the best. ever. anywhere. sometimes a place is worth going back to again and again for something as simple as that they serve.

everything else is a cut above average, and the prices are medium. so for value, good.

it is nearly always busy, fills up. the wait staff has to hustle. it is not a place to go and expect "great service". you go there for a fun lunch or inexpensive dinner or prettygoodbreakfast.

they failed!. i have been telling my dad about this place for so long after reading about it on yelp so we finally stopped in for lunch. i knew what kind of place it was and wasn't really sure if i wanted breakfast or lunch since both were recommended. as we walked in we were sat at a booth that was not wiped down and a little tight of a fit but we dealt with it.

right away my dad commented on all of the tattoos and i pretty much expected it after hearing about the place but every customer seemed to have one as well. this pretty much became a game for us to try to find someone without a tattoo but as expected for the area we couldn't. i have a tattoo myself but i have never seen so many in one dining establishment at one time. it's a great place for people watching i'll give em that.

when our server arrived i ordered the pulled bbq chicken sandwich with a mixed green salad and my dad got a short stack of pancakes. we made it quick and pretty simple but one minute later our server came back to clarify if i ordered the pork or chicken and that i wanted fries. i said the chicken and salad and he asked if vinaigrette was ok like it's the only thing that was available to me.

when our food arrived my dad got 2 nice looking pancakes and my plate was big but mostly covered with salad and produce for my sandwich. the chicken was poring out so this lookedgoodbut as i took off the bun i noticed it was all on one side of the bun and there really wasn't alot of meat at all. the bun was not what i expected either as it was a small hamburger sized sesame bun. this sandwich was small and not an item worth almost $10. it came with a side of coleslaw that was totally bland so i put it on my sandwich to enhance both. as i said the plate was covered with mixed greens and barely had any vinaigrette to make it even edible. the only perk here was they gave me about 10 pickles that i put on my sandwich and made it a little better but they need more meat and a much fancier bun for this sandwich.

as for the pancakes they hadgoodflavor with the syrup but seemed average and on the doughy side. my dad is a huge pancake lover and they definitely failed in his book. i'm not clear on the exact price of the two pancakes but i can tell you that you can get a better price and tastier pancakes elsewhere.

as we finished up we asked to get the check when our server had a chance but it seemed there was not a chance with us. we watched him put in an order on the computer and take orders from two tables before we finally dropped a $20 bill on the edge of the table and he finally grabbed it to make change and bring our bill. i have had my experience in restaurants and i know people get busy but you can make time for something like a bill and we noticed there really was no serious meltdown he was having.

all together we really weren't impressed with rudy's food and service. the menu looks great and has somegoodideas but it's overpriced for sure. everyone has different experiences so try em out and hope they don't fail with you.

don't let the small building fool you as you walk in and get welcomed by loud music and tons of customers. i visited twice, both times very busy. even at 1030 at night on a monday night it was hopping. i received poor service however it seemed as if they were severely understaffed. the food was great however, how hard is it to make agoodturkey reuban? they did comp my beer because of the service however.goodplace if you're looking for a sandwich or tofu dishes. they also have a wide range of specials everyday and they serve breakfast all day long. if your looking for agoodlate night dinner go to rudy's, they're open until 1 am every night.
