stunning entrance to this super restaurant. loved the christmas decor. atmosphere is fun, friendly and sophisticated. the girls are beautifully dressed up, the boys more casual. we enjoyed drinks at the bar first then a light dinner. the calamari and prawns were delicious and the tiramisu was light and fluffy with a good hint of coffee. cool music played yet didn't disturb conversation. will definitely come back

i visited rosso last friday with 4 other family members and we had a fantastic night. all staff from door, to bar and table service were very friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. the food was devine and the portions were of generous size. the decor is plush, crisp and fresh with a great atmosphere. now my firm favourite manchester restaurant. i would definitely recommend and i will certainly be going again!

every time i'm in manchester i make sure to stop by rosso's!
i ordered the spaghetti bolognese which was delicious as always! the dish was brought out quite quickly and was very hot, even though the restaurant was very busy.
i also ordered the tiramisu (unfortunately not pictured) but it was quite big, definitely enough to share between two! it was very light, not too much of a strong coffee or alcohol flavour which i like.
in the past i have also ordered the lasagna which i highly highly recommend.

ambiance: 4/5
food: 4/5
value: 4.5/5

this place is owned by rio ferdinand and has very high reviews, so i decided to give it a try before the united match. the restaurant was very well decorated for christmas. you can see that this place is classy, not expecting this from rio. :p the service was really prompt. the food is good italian. probably would not go again before a match because of lack of atmosphere, but this is an excellent place for fine dining.

the inside is really decked out and i would categorize it as fine-dining. i felt sort of shabby in my backpack and jeans, but they still let us in. it’s an italian restaurant, and also offers a bar. they even had a wall full of pictures of celebrities who have dined here. garlic bread – half tomato, half cheese the waiter sug

we came here for my partners birthday we got told we had to book way in advance to get in but i rung up on the same night (sat) and managed to get a table. we had heard brilliant things about rosso so was very excited to visit once we arrived we got shown to our table straight away so we ordered 2 cocktails with our non english speaking waiter! they took forever to come as he was so busy and when he finally arrived with them he got the order wrong! we had them anyway as there was no way we were waiting any longer for more drinks! we ordered 2 main meals but felt very uncomfortable eating as there were so many people all crammed in one place you couldn't stretch your arm out without touching the people sat next to you, not the sort of intimate setting we were after. it's such a shame as the food was good. we would like to give it another go but i wouldn't recommend going on a weekend if you want a nice romantic dinner as you can hardly hear each other speak for the noise of everyone else talking. the best part of the night was meeting tom cleverly the united player, if you like to do a bit of star spotting your in the right place!

to conclude, rosso is i think the epitome of a place where the quality of food seems to be less important than the other elements; the service and atmosphere are excellent. sadly this just isn't enough for me. the food has to be better than this to make me want to return. in short: rosso is all style with little substance.

slow cooked pig cheeks in parma ham were divine. meaty, moreish and oozing a bitter sweet black treacle jus, it took mere minutes to demolish, though aoife’s antipasto board – a meal unto itself of artisan cheeses, pickled artichokes and a basket of bread – required a doggy bag and whole extra day to finish. having already troughed a perfectly pitched sweet red peppe

rosso’s sunday lunch menu consists of a single course of roast meat, so i decided to order the bruschetta pomodoro (grilled italian bread, rubbed with garlic, and covered with chopped tomatoes, red-onion and basil) from the a la carte menu.

from the attentive service to the beautifully presented food, you really do get the star treatment here without feeling out of place. i’d eat here every time if i had the salary to support such an extravagance. unfortunately, for the time being, i may have to settle for special occasions. i wonder how many of those i can find…

rosso sits majestically at the top of king street west in a beautiful victorian building which use to be a bank. it is owned by manchester united's own rio ferdinand. it is a classy affair and home to one of the best lunch deals in the city. a group of ten of us went a few weeks ago and we were very impressed. we sampled the spring/summer lunch menu, which offered a nice selection of seasonal food, with vegetarians being well catered for. the lunch deal in question is £12.95 for a starter and a main dish and if you partake of this deal then bottles of house wine go for £5.95 (and the wine was very nice - slurp!). so all in all a pretty good deal, especially if you are after a bit of a boozy lunch. i went for butternut squash soup to start, which came out in a huge bowl and had a big dollop of cream freche in it. pleasant enough but i did have a bit of food envy as my companions chomped down on an interesting beetroot salad. another hit was the chicken livers and balsamic sauce on rusti
