april 2020: bought takeaway pancakes and chicken waffles for weekend brunch.
pancakes had a crispy exterior and fluffly on the inside. luscious mascarpone salted caramel ice cream. the chicken was crispy with savoury waffles and silky maple syrup.
easy online ordering system via their website. pick up and delivery options available. prices a little on the higher end.
overall, a nice treat during these cautious times.

september 2018: returned for a cheeky, spontaneous late night dessert.

we tried the 'sticky date brioche donuts' - an impeccable balance of sticky date flavours and textures - and the 'cherry ripe' - a delicate chocolate dome with intense cherry and berry flavours.

once again, food and service worthy of all five stars!

may 2018: made a reservation for friday date-night dinner. this was our first experience at rogue, and we were looking forward to seeing (and eating) all of the hype.

we started off with drinks (i had a cocktail, "a jimador's heaven", which was very refreshing and easy-to-drink), and entrees.
we chose the "vegetable" bao - crispy bao with deep earthy flavours and perfect accompaniments, and the "cow" beef tartare - a sweeter version than the traditional cured one, but delicious and fresh all the same.

just prior to mains, we spontaneouslyordereda side of "chips" - strong flavours of sriracha, crispy well-cooked potato chips with a side of garlic aioli.

for mains, we chose the "pig" - perfectly cooked, succulent roast pork with crispy skin, and the accompanying smoky artichoke puree was delectable (my partner mopped up every bit of puree left on the plate), and "sheep" - tender lamb with a textural experience of crispy lotus root and roasted carrots.

for dessert, we shared the "macadamia" - a textural and delicious mille feuille-type dessert with crispy brittle and smooth gelato. a strong finish to our night.

service was very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. casual-smart ambience. reasonable prices. the portions were quite reasonable too - my partner and i were sufficiently full before weordereddessert. in hindsight, we probably did not need the portion of chips on the side as well (albeit, they were quite delicious though).

overall, an impeccable dinner, well worth the hype and rating. will be back to try the other dinner items, as well as the brunch options!

rogue bar & bistro had been on my breakfast radar for some time when my workout-and-brunch buddy and i needed somewhere to refuel after our recent sunday morning run. you know a cafe is worth visiting when it's highly recommended by three totally unrelated friends, and this was the case with rogue.

even though we managed to arrive just before their major sunday morning rush, there was still a waiting list of about half an hour. we popped our names down on the list, ordereda takeaway coffee, and found a space on the conveniently located couch out the front with the other hungry patrons. our waiting time was used wisely by pouring over the menu and drooling over rogue's instagram feed.

surprisingly, we were seated and ordering our second round of coffees 20 minutes later - mug of vanilla flat white for me and a long black with skim on the side for her. both of my coffees (what?! i was tired! 🙊) were perfect; great strength, no bitterness, lovely crema, and a great mouth feel. my buddy was also a very happy, caffeinated lady.

our decision regarding food, however, was incredibly difficult - too many amazing choices! in the end, we decided to go all out and split three - yes, three! - breakfasts between us. the lucky winners:
- omelette - bbq pork belly, asian slaw, spiced labne, black sesame aioli, and ciabatta;
- mushrooms - truffled scrambled eggs, pancetta crumb, caramelised onion, chèvre, and sourdough;
- pancakes - blueberry, salted caramel, chocolate ganache, popcorn, and vanilla ice cream.

first up, the omelette was delicious! the pork belly was so succulent, the fat rendered beautifully. the asian slaw was a perfect match for this too. i absolutely loved the creamy texture and the taste of the black sesame aioli. everything on this plate was delicious!

but then i tried the mushrooms..... oh. my. gosh. those truffled scrambled eggs were simply divine! the mushrooms were scrumptious, well-cooked but still retained a little bit of bite. the caramelised onion was so lovely and sweet and the pancetta was a beautifully crispy and salty contrast. the chèvre was a nice accompaniment to finish such a well thought-out dish.

finally, for dessert, the pancakes - amazing!!! everything on this plate just sang! the pancakes themselves were a little dry initially but when paired with maple syrup they were heaven. the popcorn was a great textural element and worked beautifully with the delicious salted caramel. and i couldn't get enough of the gorgeous chocolate ganache - i just kept diving back in for more! my workout-and-brunch buddy is not a fan of sweet breakfasts but even she was in love with this perfectly balanced, dessert-like plate of food - congratulations on converting the unconvertible!

the service at rogue was impeccable from start to finish and ran like clockwork. each member of staff knew exactly what they were doing, which tables were theirs, and were super professional and friendly in all things. the waitress who served us gets extra points for her attention to detail in the way she looked after us, ensuring that we had sufficient plates and cutlery for sharing without us needing to ask.

the white and wood decor with plenty of natural light and greenery, coupled with the fantastic staff, great coffee, and amazing food really made our sunday. i think i may have found my new default breakfast retreat! thank you, rogue!

if i died after my meal i would die one happy lady. cannot fault any of the dishes we ordered, the lamb rack was ridiculous. i honestly don't think i will ever eat lamb that tender and delicious again and it makes me want to cry thinking about it. the service was fantastic and the only critique i'll offer is iordereda wanky chai latte and i received a latte...i learned my lesson. 12/10 will dine here again.

very beautiful food and service! for the two of us, we were recommended to order 1 entree, 2 mains, sides and a dessert to share. for entree, weorderedthe prawn and the scallops. the scallops is definitely a must! we chose the beef and salmon for mains. the karrakala from the salmon’s dish is a star. the beef with the salad is just so well-rounded. we alsoorderedbrussel sprouts for a side, its crunchy, sweet and savoury. but, i just felt that its the only dish that i find it difficult to finish. for dessert, we were recommended the meringue which was perfect for the warm evening. i was initially hesitant as i am not a big fan of meringue and they usually turned out to be too sweet for my palate. but, the meringue just exceeded my expectation. very instagrammable and very tasty indeed! overall, we will come back!

amazing place, the food is absolutely amazing and the wait staff were really friendly and attentive.

atmosphere is nice and cosy.

entree weorderedwere yummy, after the complimentary smoked butter and bread, my favourite was the seared scallops.

dinner and sides were amazing as well. the eye fillet cooked perfectly for instance. my only grip is they basically have
- 3 sides for $20
- mains at ~ $40 each
then they offer the shared meal deal for two
- 3 sides + 3 mains for $120 ($60/person) which seems like a $20 discount - but alas isn’t - as the portions are about a third smaller

at the end of the day no issue as, the desserts really stuffed us. the citruses coconut gelato based one really cleansed the palate well.

i usually don’t write reviews but after my experience with rogue bistro, i have the urge to do so. my partner and i went to this restaurant for date night for the very first time and honestly, it was probably the best food we’ve tasted in a long time. weorderedsome entrees and “the ark” (bird, sheep, and vegetable). we loved all of the dishes we hadorderedand we were impressed by the dish presentation as well. we did watch mkr for the past few weeks so we were so ready to be extra and find any flaws but there was literally nothing about the food we didn’t like. i think we both almost teared up after the entrees. on top of that, the service we had was exceptional. ambience was cozy and romantic that night. definitely recommend to everyone! great for birthday dinners, dates or even just a casual day/night out with friends/family :)

i came on a rainy weekday, hoping to get a relaxing brunch. i thought the place would be lax since it’s raining hard. boy was i wrong. the place’s totally crowded even tho it’s raining cats and dogs. the servers were really nice and friendly, giving me place to wait inside the restaurant while i was waiting to sit in.

i finally got to sit andorderedwaffle with black forest and matcha cream along with matcha latte. the food came out pretty fast and it was just so pretty. the waffle’s black with dark chocolate gelato and persian floss on top of it. the matcha cream had really good matcha flavour and was not too sweet. they also added fresh cherries that gives refreshing flavour on top of the sweetness which was amazing! the presentation was really beautiful that i could not stop taking pictures of it. the portion’s also big and satisfying. the matcha latte’s also a good blend of matcha and soy milk. overall, the place’s really worth to dine in! ☺️

my experience overal was disappointing. i found majority of the dishes to be either too salty, or to sweet.

my husband and iorderedthe bread, pig, cow, scallop dishes as entrées.
the bread was great, a little ciabatta, warm and the whippet butter was a nice touch, our favourite dish of the night.

pig was a bit odd, nothing like we expected. we felt a little let down by the lack of crackling, found the dish to be sweet and couldn't really taste much pork.

the cow dish was beef tartare. there was no beef taste that were present. no egg taste and the beetroot was overpowering.

scallops were cooked well, pancetta on top distracted us from the delicious scallops. not sure about the salsa under the scallop, didn't really taste like much. i am a big kimchi fan, so i was excited about the potential flavours we could have experienced with this dish, but in the end we really just got some scallops with mayo. i would have preferred a scallop to with a slice of lemon.

for our mains we chose the sheep and vegetarian.
unfortunately the lamb dish was overcooked, and we were distracted by the other ingredients that completely covered it. it just didn't taste like the hero of the dish at all.

vego dish was burnt gnocchi with pumpkin puree, cherry tomatoes, beans, and parmesan cheese crisps. pumpkin puree was nice, gnocchi had a play dough texture and it was not very pleasant. tomatoes were okay, and the beans could have been cooked for longer.

we didn't bother with dessert, since we only enjoyed our bread starter.

lovely service and well presented food!! do definitely recommend reserving a table before hand as this place get amazingly busy all day, especially through the weekend.
great ambience and vibe with a nice out door dining area.
ordered the fried chicken waffles which was a magical combination, fluffy soft waffles with crispy savoury batter drizzled with maple syrup - a “party in your mouth” kind of dish with the great flavour combination that is pretty much made for each other. my partnerorderedthe truffle scrambled eggs & mushroom dish which he loved also.
definitely recommend completing your brunch experience with the pancake cake dish - definitely was not disappointed!!

we were extremely satisfied with our first experience at rogue for dinner. weorderedthe ark to share, it is a great idea for the menu, as customers can try and little of a variety of dishes and sides. the portions of both the mains and sides was just right, the presentation and taste of the meals was excellent. although the mains took a while to come out, we didn't think the time was excessive and weren't famished waiting. the waitress brought out a complimentary bread for us to share while we waited which was a great initiative and we appreciated the thought.
other than the quality of the food, the service that was rendered by the waitress was top class. she didn't hang around or ask how the meal was when we just had a few bites of the meal (like wait people do at some establishments), she always kept our wine and water topped up. really excellent service which is sadly lacking at a lot of restaurants of late.
great food and service at reasonable prices, no complaints here!
top work team!

the consistently high zomato ratings for rogue make sense considering our excellent dinner there.

mrs kan do immediately fell in love with the lights over the walkway to the entrance of the remodelled house where rogue is situated.

weorderedfirst to share, the 'bug' (squid ink profiterole, coastal bug and celeriac remoulade). this was an excellent dish, although the squid ink profiteroles had a somewhat unfortunate initial appearance as you would expect. the celeriac remoulade in particular, which is something new to me, was perfect in complementing with its saltiness, the profiteroles and bug. i would rate this dish 4.5-5.

for our main course weordered'the ark' (three mains and three sides). the three mains were:
- 'sheep' (macadamia crusted rump, rosemary potato paste, minted pea mousse, fried cauliflower and carrot jam);
- 'bird' (spatchcock, chicken rillette, pickled onion, corn puree, rosti and crispy leek); and,
- 'cow'  (beef rump cap, root vegetables, creamed cauliflower, burnt speck ash and smoked aioli).

the sheep dish was excellent with perfectly cooked meat and with the rosemary potate paste and fried cauliflower was delicious. i've never a been a huge fan of western preparations of lamb with mint, and although the minted pea mousse and carrot jam were not to my taste, i could see how it works in this dish. this dish rated a 4.5

the bird dish was also excellent and was probably the best of the mains. the chicken rillette was something new to me and i enjoyed the flavour combination of the spatchcock with both the rillette and the sweet corn puree. the rosti and crispy leek added both flavour and texture. this dish rated a 4.5-5.

the cow dish was very good, although the one complaint i have here is that weorderedmedium and what we got was much closer to rare, which made it impossible for mrs kan do to eat. the flavours of the accompaniments to the rump cap were excellent and probably my favourite of the three mains, with perfect slightly sweet root vegetables and the combination of the creamed cauliflower, speck ash and aioli complementing the meat perfectly. this dish rated a 4.

the sides were beans with kale dressed with sesame oil and tahini; shimeji mushrooms, pancetta crumb and spinach emulsion; and, brussels sprouts with flaked almonds, grapes and almond butter.  each was prepared perfectly and were excellent in combination with the mains. i particularly enjoyed the  beans and the mushrooms. i struggled a  little with the sweetness of the grapes with the salty and slight bitterness of the brussel sprouts which i prefer unadulterated, although mrs kan do found the combination refreshing - so just a matter of personal preference there.  the side dishes rated a 4.5.

the service was efficient, warm and friendly. we felt perfectly looked after. overall, an excellent dining experience, and a good restaurant for a special occasion.

considering the blistering heat of 40 degrees today i'm glad i decided we have breakfast at rogue, a very open cafe with great airflow.

i already got the heads up from the phone call i made this morning about how busy they might be but took the risk anyway. on arrival rogue was already bustling and full to the brim, we were told a 20 min wait and that was fine because they had adequate seating out front and staff were ever so polite about it. our name got called and we were seated inside right under a number of fans going at full speed, i shouldn't have (because it was ridiculously hot but did anyway)orderedmy usual coffee, was delivered so quick and it was perfect!!!! the staff treat the customers so well and do it with a smile, so on point with attending to your needs to make your visit that little bit more enjoyable.

for the main was omelette with pork belly which came considerably quick considering the place was busy. the pork belly was cooked just right and melted in your mouth, if i to be picky i would say that it needed more yogurt and harissa because i was looking forward to those two combinations to come through but sadly they didn't. all in all a fantastic start to the morning and this a place i would revisit.
