rocks on the river

great. this place rocks. delicious food , drink, and fun time - amazing views too!

hotels can cook!. after disappointing meals at huey's and local 11 ten we decided to see if the rocks kitchen at the bohemian was as good as the appetizers hinted when we settled in for drinks at the rooftop bar each night of our visit. we should have started here. my wife's shrimp and pasta was one of the best meals she/we have had. the flavors were perfectly balanced and the shrimp was fresh, tender, and perfectly cooked. i was feeling cautious so ordered a hamburger and fries and both were great. the fries aren't on par with the best chicago-made fries, but they were very good. would definitely go back to try other selections if we were back in savannah. the service was also excellent.

the food was pretty good with the exception of our sweet potato fries being cold. the hostess was kind of rude but the decor was awesome and unique would i go there again? probably not... but mostly due to there being so many other great restaurants to try in the area.

when my meal was first presented to me i was quite impressed. it looked like there was just a ton of seafood on my plate. unfortunately, this was a deception because it was piled on top of a bunch of french fries. anybody know what happens when you pile hot fried food on top of french fries? as the grease from the fried food drains, it soaks the french fries (which are more than capable of absorbing this). what the diner soon discovers, is that there is actually very little seafood but plenty of greasy, soggy fries. the sauces, which in my humble opinion should be used sparingly if at all as the natural flavor of the seafood is the target of one's taste, were lackluster. i must give them an a for effort as many restaurants simply will serve the run-of-the-mill sauces provided from their vendor. when i glanced over at melanie's plate, i realized that the rocks surf and turf included the 5oz filet rather than the 8oz. more disappointing was that she had ordered it medium well and it came

great food, great staff. i am a local, who love the atmosphere of what our downtown area has to offer. i have been to rocks on a number of occasions; the latest was 2/11/11 for a valentines dinner. the food was great as usual and mary our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. i have the say one of the best places to eat on river street.

rocks was the perfect place for people watching, as the restaurant was directly on river street. the glass wall which fronted the street was actually a series of giant roll up doors as are often found in a warehouse. according to our server, when the weather is nice the doors are rolled up, creating an open air experience, but today they were down given it was a bit cool.

mediocre. i was looking forward to something more given the hype. although the staff is wonderful, and the cocktails a high point, the food was uninspired, i thought. certainly not a "fine dining" experience, which may be the problem. it's really a casual dining experience, hyped to be more than it truly is.

don't understand all the good reviews. interesting menu, ok food. deafening noise. worst restaurant design i've seen in a long time.

i live in savannah, got married about a year ago and my family and i all came to rocks on the river. now whenever they come back in town, we always have to hit the roof at least one time. excellent views of savannah and the river. great staff. excellent food. five stars in my book

really fun place with cool atmosphere and really good food. we ordered she crab soup first, and it was the best she crab soup i have ever tasted. my wife and i shared the shrimp dumplings and the chicken and waffle sliders and both were really really good. no room for dessert but our server told us to come back because they were all homemade. a real surprise for river street.

best thing to happen to savannah since sherman left town. what a great experience! first off the atmosphere really sets the mood for a vacation/ relaxed feel. the food is consistent and very tasty. last the service is very friendly.

delish!. modern feel. delicious food. i have tried the meatloaf, shrimp and grits, cornbread, 'award winning' chili, and the wedge salad. all of which were amazing. great service as well.

fabulous everything!. along with some old friends, we recently spent the evening at rocks on the river, enjoying drinks, sampling many appetizers, and dinner. our favorite appetizers were the fried green tomatoes, antipasto, and crabcakes (wonderful). we had a wide variety of dinners, (steak salad, excellent grouper, a calif. sandwich, etc.), and were very pleased with our choices. also, our server was the best ever. chef jon massey even came out to chat with us and make sure we were thrilled with everything. if you are in savannah, be sure and make rocks on the river one of your choices for great dining.

excellente. this restaurant was excellent. beautiful atmosphere, romantic and clean. we had calamari for an appetizer... soooo yummy and different. and then for the main course we had the crabcake dinner...by far the best crabcake i have ever had. a little pricey - but so is everywhere in savannah. highly recommend!
