if rockefellers rawbarin north myrtle beach, s.c. were a pet you would take it out and shoot it in the head and, you wouldn’t even need to dig a hole to bury it. just scrape the mud, dirt, and filth out of the dime size oysters they just served us for dinner and you should have enough to bury it and the city block it sits on, although the environmental protection agency might have some objections. it wasn’t just bad folks, it was insultingly and disgustingly bad. i am not exaggerating about the size either. i halfway expected someone to walk out with a tv camera and tell us we had just been punked. ok, so there were a few oysters the size of a nickel and maybe two would reach the size of a quarter, but the most frightening part of the tray of steamed filth looked like it had been prepared in the kitchen of the walking dead. most of the tiny oysteretts featured a slimy, sandy, black filth that covered most them and much of the shells as well. however, for us, the really sad news is just this. my wife and i have been coming to rockefellers for the last 25 years now and until today it has been our favorite seafood restuarant on the beach. i don’t know what happened. maybe they are under new mis-management or have a new owner who is a secret operative for the taliban. one thing is for sure. they have lost our business for good and i’m sure they couldn’t care less about that. i know they couldn’t care less because they could not have cared less about the filth they just served us for dinner. i am posting this review not just to voice my opinion, but also in the event of food poisoning or worse, we will have made our experience in deadly dining a matter of public record. by the way. for those who might ask why we bothered to eat the dirty dozen, we didn’t. only the ones on top which covered the dirty ones beneath. i guess that is the rockefellers dirty trick of the day. so long rockefellers. you have brought shame to the name.

meh. overpriced, the oysters were small. the shrimp i ate was rubbery. no garnish or vegetables made the plates unbalanced. the wait staff was very kind. however the atmosphere was plain. they did not misrepresent the theme though, because it is abarafter all. it's a fair meal but have your wallets out because it costs more than it should.

absolutely the best place we went to.
we tried several restaurants in myrtle beach and this by far with the look of a crab shack and the decor inside including captain chairs instead ofbarstools this place did not disappoint. we enjoyed the rockefellers steam pot! yum! a must. thanks to our server lauren! you made our last night seething we will remember for a long time!!!

get a steam pot. rockefellers rawbarhas really, really great steam pots. i recommend going with a friend and sharing one. that way you can try an app. or maybe get a desert. this place seems to get a bad rap on the spoon. i am reviewing it because i haven't done so yet and i have eaten there many times. if you have been to myrtle beach, you know that 90% of the restaurants are tourist traps. this is in the other 10%. you can perhaps find a more pretentious or a more expensive meal in myrtle but you will be hard pressed to find a more back to the basics seafood feast. yum

i have been here many time over the last 15 years. i hate to say this will be the last. the food and the service is suffering. the oysters where hurried through when being prepared leaving grit and shell pieces throughout. the staff and manager very unprofessional. you can't miss the manager 6'5" big mouth, half in the bag and playing gambling cards at the end of thebarwith his buddy. you also couldn't miss him and his moaning. just shy of mfing the customers that where in line waiting for a table. because the door was left open and the inadequate a/c system wasnt keeping it cool i think what topped off the night was when i ordered more hush puppies. the barmaid forgot to order them by the way. then proceeded to serve us a miss order i watched go back to the kitchen ten minutes prior. we they got to us served cold we sent the back and got back 20 min old microwaved hush puppies

never again. we went on july 8th, 2010. we have been dining here for over 10 yrs, but recently moved farther south so we hadn't been in awhile. first thing we noticed was the sign that entire restaurant was non smoking. okay...so thisbaris now smoke free...can live with it. however, the food was something that cannot be overlooked. it was inedible. we had steamed shrimp, mussels, and scallops from their "famous" steamers. absolutely so overcooked as to be rendered useless. the mussels were the size of garden peas. my son ordered fried shrimp- which were so overcooked that they shredded when he bit into one. i understand there is a new owner. great...i hope he opens a new restaurant there, because rockerfellers, as we knew it, is gone. oh, did i forget to mention that the prices are through the roof? yes, in addition to poor quality food, you pay dearly. a bowl of clam chowder is $9.99.....are you kidding me? nope, never again

doesn't like it.barstaff too busy worring about something on tv rather than taking care of my party.. food was so so..felt like i was in the middle of some betting parlor with all the talk about the games going on and cell phone of workers going off and they were answering them instead of getting me another drink...will not be back

rocks is the best kept secret in all of north myrtle beach!. rocks is the bomb! their lobster & seafood kettles are to die for! the crab dip, she crab soup, & blackened grouper, are good too. it has a dark divey-bar kind of feel, but seth & the staff always take care of us. i think that the dark dive-barthing with the tall white dude rooting for dallas just adds to this place's character. so sit back in your white captains chair at theirbar& have a cold one.
