absolutely the best place we went to.
we tried several restaurants in myrtle beach and this by far with the look of a crab shack and the decor inside including captain chairs instead of bar stools this place did not disappoint. we enjoyed the rockefellers steam pot! yum! a must. thanks to our server lauren! you made our last night seething we will remember for a long time!!!

took a chance on this restaurant according to reviews and glad i did! great seafood. it's not the most attractive place if you judge from outside, but inside very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.

get a steam pot. rockefellers raw bar has really, really great steam pots. i recommend going with a friend and sharing one. that way you can try an app. or maybe get a desert. this place seems to get a bad rap on the spoon. i am reviewing it because i haven't done so yet and i have eaten there many times. if you have been to myrtle beach, you know that 90% of the restaurants are tourist traps. this is in the other 10%. you can perhaps find a more pretentious or a more expensive meal in myrtle but you will be hard pressed to find a more back to the basics seafood feast. yum

i have been here many time over the last 15 years. i hate to say this will be the last. the food and the service is suffering. the oysters where hurried through when being prepared leaving grit and shell pieces throughout. the staff and manager very unprofessional. you can't miss the manager 6'5" big mouth, half in the bag and playing gambling cards at the end of the bar with his buddy. you also couldn't miss him and his moaning. just shy of mfing the customers that where in line waiting for a table. because the door was left open and the inadequate a/c system wasnt keeping it cool i think what topped off the night was when i ordered more hush puppies. the barmaid forgot to order them by the way. then proceeded to serve us a miss order i watched go back to the kitchen ten minutes prior. we they got to us served cold we sent the back and got back 20 min old microwaved hush puppies

"can't really say too much!". my family and i were seated promptly, right after happy hour 7:30 p.m., and nobody came to check on us for almost 10 mins. we walked out...

i have gone to rockefellers a few times a year when visiting my mom and have been happy with each visit. the staff has been very kind and efficient and the food is super good. particularly the mussels, bread and pasta. not a tourist trap either. just today i ordered a gift card from ny and they were nice enough to send it direct for me in sc

a favorite for years.. rockefeller's is one of the reasons we come to the grand strand. fun mellow atmosphere, although sometimes noisy. food is always excellent. good steam pots, fresh oysters, it's a great place for great casual seafood.

really very good food...non smoking>>>yeah baby !!. i think this place and biminis are perhaps the best values on the beach...yes...the service can be apathetic at best...however..if you go at lunch..sit at the bar...usually quite attentive.

the owners are not the most convivial...and i have been shocked at their response to customers complaints...totally unprofessional with the proverbial chip on shoulder...however...i have never been a recipient and have found them to be more that charming to me.

the food really is quite good...and i think a terrific value...most appears to be house made and not fresh off the sysco truck.

overall...a great value...nice staff from my experience..great food (not gourmet)..decent beer on tap (however...why don't any of the mb area bars serve local or regional micro brews ???)

try it !!

good food, owners son and staff need to be replaced. went there over the weekend with some good friends and expected a great time. we ordered a couple of appetizers as well as 4 entrees. the one entreee came out with the apps., a mistake that could have been overlooked and easily addressed. then one more entree came out, still waiting on 2 more. after a while the others food was getting cold and because the people dining had class no one was eating till all the food was on the table. at this point one person in our party went to speak with the server, this guy has class so it was not a bitch session, after he explained the situation the white trash waitress said "if you don't like my service, you dont have to eat here" at which point our friend spoke to the owner. in the interim, i went to observe the kitchen on the re-cook (for those of you who have worked in an establishment or saw the movie waiting) to make sure our food was not tampered with. upone my observation the white trash waitress was m*&^%^f'ing my friend and asking who he thought he was. at that point i opened the door and explained that "he" is your customer and we are not here for you, you are here for us. then the owners son "too tall" came out and argued that she could have been talking about anyone and just insulted me by doing so. his aggressive demeanor followed by his 5th grade education told me you cant win an argument with an idiot. the owner said he would comp our bill, but was apathetic in doing so. great business skills, did you go to wharton? at any rate it may have been a long hot summer as the excuse was portrayed in the air conditioned space??? i just hope they can keep the lights on another year.

never again. we went on july 8th, 2010. we have been dining here for over 10 yrs, but recently moved farther south so we hadn't been in awhile. first thing we noticed was the sign that entire restaurant was non smoking. okay...so this bar is now smoke free...can live with it. however, the food was something that cannot be overlooked. it was inedible. we had steamed shrimp, mussels, and scallops from their "famous" steamers. absolutely so overcooked as to be rendered useless. the mussels were the size of garden peas. my son ordered fried shrimp- which were so overcooked that they shredded when he bit into one. i understand there is a new owner. great...i hope he opens a new restaurant there, because rockerfellers, as we knew it, is gone. oh, did i forget to mention that the prices are through the roof? yes, in addition to poor quality food, you pay dearly. a bowl of clam chowder is $9.99.....are you kidding me? nope, never again

doesn't like it. bar staff too busy worring about something on tv rather than taking care of my party.. food was so so..felt like i was in the middle of some betting parlor with all the talk about the games going on and cell phone of workers going off and they were answering them instead of getting me another drink...will not be back
