outstanding. i went for happy hour and tried the pork wings (pork shoulders the size of a large chicken drumstick with yummy sauce), chili verde pot, "big a*" burger, chicken pesto flatbread, and fish tacos. all were excellent. fish tacos among the best one ever had. burger is huge. also got pecan pie (loaded with pecans, plus chocolate chips), very good. all this for $60 plus tip.

absolutely no complaints. will be back.


six months later ... i went back. got the same order, but sub'ed a side order of street corn and green chili mac instead of the flatbread (fyi, you can get half-size orders on all sides, for half price). ... other than the pork wings none of it was quite as good as i remembered it. still very good (and cannot beat the happy hour price - $60 plus tip!). i won't change my rating. ... also tried the ancho chocolate torte - excellent (dark chocolate with a hint of heat - really good).

you'll roar your approval. the absolute highest creativity and quality you'll find in scottsdale. all the regular items are wonderful and the rotating dishes like the blt salad are outstanding. the ribs - yes. the barbequed chicken - oh yeah. the green chile mac and cheese - hmmmm. in the dining room or bar (best deals), you'll love it.

rainbow trout in the desert. not cheap but a classy meal is not to be insulted! although the chef was a little generous with the butter the fish was very tasty especially with those crunchy capers...wow!

happy hour is fantastic!!! staff, cocktails & food is spot on.....only reason i did not give it 5 stars, sometimes it’s extremely difficult in finding s seat. lol

i went to have a nice christmas eve meal at roaring fork with my folks and it didn't disappoint in anyway. the ambiance is outstanding, it feels like a perfect place for winter with decor that seems straight out of some faraway sierra nevada ski lodge. the service was terrific, absolutely no complaints and our waiter dan made great recommendations on entrées, sides, and wine.

i had the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin which was cook to perfection with cheese grits and sweet corn accompaniments. my dining partners both had 22 oz. ribeye steaks that exceeded those i've tried at much swankier steakhouses. we also shared the green chile mac and cheese, and the sauteed spinach, which were also very good.

i can't wait to return to try more of the menu, what a great evening.

my fiancé took me here while we visited phoenix for his business trip. the place was packed on a wednesday night, so we knew the food must be good! happy hour menu has great drink offerings for very reasonable prices, & a few appetizers that sounded good. we shared both the filet & "big ass burger"... & let me just say that burger's description is accurate! thing was huge. the filet was the best filet i've ever had... & i've dined all over the united states at fine steak houses. apparently the wood they cook on is the secret, but the texture & cut of meat is beyond superb. we had the asparagus with it, which is also flame grilled on the same wood & had a nice smokey flavor with a light seasoning. we also received a hint for next time, to ask for the burger "charred" because they cook it on a flat top... but if you ask for it charred they'll toss it over the same wood blend to give it that awesome flavor the steak has. we finished up with the pecan pie... oh my goodness! it's made with toffee & chocolate, & i'd never tell her to her face... but it's better than my momma's! the only reason i gave 4.5 stars was because the service was a little slow... but they were very busy. we will definitely make this a staple in our trips to phoenix!

delicious food, good portions, and great atmosphere!. we walked in during spring training and they quickly accommodated us with a beautiful table on the patio. the ahi tuna to start was perfect and then i enjoyed the yellow tail fish tacos (they come in 3s!). everyone i was with raved about their meals: filet with mash potatoes, fried chicken, blackened fish, and the duck. i would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

only two thumbs up...(keep reading). because i only have two thumbs. if i had more i would give it more. from the second we stepped in the door we were treated graciously and politely by the staff. all of the staff were friendly towards us. the only part of the experience that was better than the service was the food itself. we ordered the filet mignon, street corn, and green chili mac and cheese. for starters, the steak was high quality. i would rank it the best i have had in phoenix, better than ruth criss and flemmings. my wife thought it rivaled steaks from emeril lagasse's las vegas restaurant, del monico. the sides were equally as good and made to share. we will definitely be dining here again. i personally saw the chef conducting quality control by checking plate presentation and even sampling some sauces to double check the flavor. without hesitation, this was the best restaurant experience we have had in phoenix.

...the tacos were light and fresh with a flavorful salsa verde. the burger was indeed big-assed – well over half a pound...

if you can fault the service for forgetting the dates in a medjool date salad or when ordering two steaks at market price one medium and rare they both come out rare needing send one back to the kitchen, then i guess we can't say we had a superb experience.

visited the roaring fork last night and it was very nice. ordered the queso first - it was delicious! my hubs ordered the big ass burger - very good! i ordered the salmon, it did not amaze me but it was cooked well. i recommend ordering something else. lots of great reviews about the green chile mac, i was underwhelmed.

amazing steak!. i went to roaring fork on a first date. great choice the guy had made! it smelled so wonderful inside. the waiter was very knowledgeable and described all the specials with great detail. the filet mignon was one of the best i've ever had! the green chili mac and cheese was superb. i also had asparagus. the sides are big enough to split. the wine list was great. overall the total experience was wonderful and i would definitely go back. very glad i got to finally try this place.

consistently good food and service. "fork" features a combination of consistently good food, attentive service, comfortable upscale facilities and reasonable prices all things considered. never had a bad meal or poor service in many visits. however last night and the two previous visits to the fork i ordered a bottle of wine from the dinner menu (not off the reserve wine list) and each time the server brought a more recent vintage than the one offered for sale without mentioning that the offered wine vintage had been sold out and replaced with a newer, younger vintage (a 2010 vintage was brought to the table rather than the 2009 ordered; i pointed out the change in vintage, but accepted the 2010). i will definitely go back the the roaring fork and recommend the arizona/country-style food. just make sure to examine the wine that's delivered to your table.

one word sums it up superb. intended to dress up and go with our children and grandchildren our youngest grandchildren, twins age five had a different lidea they were not feeling well need i say more. left them with nanny and went in not clothes for going to roaring fork. my daughter in law is well known, but you would not have recognized her this night. staff at roaring fork was terrific and treated us extremely well we ordered overlooking liquor and appetizers and the waitress was excellent. the experience was marvelous and i recommend the scallops they are remarkable

i promised my daughter in law a donation to the brest cancer foundation if she was not revealed and it was the best donation i ever made and a simply wonderful evening

blown away!. we came here a day after our wedding with family on a recommendation. a party of 12 and everyone was in love with their meals. definitely get an order or two of the green chili mac and cheese! i loved the sugar cured duck breast and my wife really enjoyed the brown butter rainbow trout. great drinks, wonderful desserts and outstanding service really made this a great experience. thanks roaring fork!
