it has probably been about 10years since i last dined at this restaurant, it was great then and is was even more amazing now. celebrating the wedding anniversary of our parents at this restaurant made it even more special.
the service was great, always someone to look after us. food was phenomenal, especially the creme brulee, nothing will ever compare. all and all awesome experience that we will remember.

we have been wanting to try reubens for a while, and finally got to go, however i was disappointed. not to get me wrong, the food is good, remembering that it is fine dining so, the flavours can be unusual, but that doesn't take anything away from the good quality. the dessert was incredible - probably the best dessert i have ever had. saying all of this, the restaurant lacks atmosphere. there is nothing special about the set up and i genuinely believe that a dinner encompasses an entire experience, so the atmosphere is really important. overall, i would much rather try le quartier francaise the next time i am in franschhoek.

i am so so disappointed! i have been going to reubens for the last 6 years and it was probably my most average experience. they have gone from fine dining to bistro style in my opinion.

the food was all cooked well and the flavours were there, but it lacked a certain finese. the portions are massive, almost way too much. i miss their old style!! the starter was underwelming, nothing to remember.

i will only be back again when they up their game.

my boyfriend took me here for my birthday. and it was superb. atmosphere check, service check, proper dining experience check. food is tasteful yet simplistic - loved it.

was really looking forward to eating at reuben's, and can say i really enjoyed the experience. my expectations were high going in which is always dangerous, nevertheless my starter was good, being the prawns, main was the sirloin which was good as well although at times felt a bit stringy. on the positive side portions were really healthy, the best though without a doubt was desert, the creme brûlée was exquisite!! 😀. service was also efficient and friendly. i would recommend going there, but for me it wouldn't necessarily be a must return or a seasonal favorite.

all up an exceptional experience! the restaurant is warm and friendly, as are the staff. the dc3 dakota wing bar is a great break from the norm and an interesting approach to one's welcome entrance through the bar area. the staff are always around but not in the way. starting with oysters served on cold stones and salted squid, aet the tone for the evening. we could not have asked for more or a better entrée - both dishes were faultless. mains was the signature pork bellies and a kingklip. again, both dishes surpassed any expectation and we were left reflecting on the high standard that reuben's maintains. cannot wait to return!

this was by far one of the best meals i've ever come across. reuben riffel's signature restaurant is situated in the gorgeous franschoek. i was there on a cold, rainy winter's day and was welcomed by a roaring fire.

for starters i tried the chili salted squid which came with a fresh mint and radish salad and aioli. the main course of roasted kingklip and prawns with star anise cream, pesto tomatoes and greens were a wonderful winter warmer.

i almost didn't have space for dessert but who can resist apple pie? the granny smith tart tatin is pretty as a picture and equally delicious. it is served with butterscotch ice cream, bittersweet and crunchy almond praline, vanilla custard and caramel.

the meal didn't come cheap, at r400 for the three courses and a glass of house wine. it's worth every penny though.

i often hear mixed reviews about reubens but when i have visited i always have a nice time.
the vibe of the restaurant is great and the service is friendly however it can be a little slow when busy.
i always struggle to choose between reuben's pork belly or the duck - both of which are superb. casual french dining in its most relaxed and accessible form. it might be expensive but don't expect fine dining.

friendly staff and well timed meal, with enough time given between each course. although the food was spectacularly presented, it lacked in flavour. i had the fish as a main - although soft, it was very bland. even the vegetables tasted like nothing. i left feeling disappointed - i was expecting much more!

visited reuben's when it was lesser known a few years ago and have fond memories.. but the standard has not been maintained. i think the chef is benefiting from his now famous name and maybe not spending enough time in the kitchen? all in all a pleasant experience but unspectacular bar the great deserts (salty caramel tarte and creme brullee). good starters and boring and dry main course (tuna). nice setting under the tree in the courtyard. friendly staff. good wine list. still a good place to eat but a lot of competition in that neighbourhood and not as good as it could be...

impromptu lunch stop at reuben's in franschhoek, it was a mixed bag. my boyfriend and i have both had excellent meals here in the past. today though some dishes were standout, others not. the starter of peri peri livers with beetroot and walnuts was okay. it was an interesting flavour combination but just lacked that little bit extra to take it to another level. i scoffed down my main which consisted of braised oxtail, mash and an avo salsa. it was delicious! my partner had the yellow fin tuna and anchovy butter, it too was okay. dessert was the restaurant's redeemer. i had salted caramel tart with a white chocolate ice cream, yum, yum. my partner's dessert was equally amazing! service was great, so too was the atmosphere.

i have eaten at reuben's quite a few times over the last couple of times and have never been disappointed. delicious food, great wines, lovely atmosphere (even when dining on your own) plus the plating and presentation is beautiful. they also have amazing coffee!

we had a great experience and reuben's for dinner.

the menu is gourmet south african with asian influences here and there. there are a lot of uniquely south african dishes e.g peri peri chicken livers that are taken to the next step by combining delicate but complimenting flavors with beautiful plating.

i personally felt that the portions were quite large, not complaining since everything was delicious. the service was great with a very attentive waiter.

i definitely recommend a visit.

all elements of a great dining experience came together perfectly except for the service which was frustrating slow. since we went at the height of the peak season, it could be attributed to just too many tables to serve. will try it again to re-assess.

food was tasty but certainly not exceptional. had the lunch menu which was quite small and specials of day v ltd ( just 2 items). quite a lot of menu was fried aka tempura but it was basic fried good nothing tempura in sight.. for a r135 prawn starter i expected a little more!

the service was quite slow and plates were not efficiently removed after eating. at other tables dirty dishes were not cleared away for more than 30 mins. this is a poor show in an upmarket establishment. perhaps rueben should spend a little more time in his restaurant .
