my first time trying out reuben's. although the food was good...i was a bit disappointed as this didn't meet my expectations of flavour for a luxury dining restaurant. the service wasgreatbut i feel there were a few misses on the plate.

while roaming and touring the wine yards around cape town landed in this small bistro of renowned south african chef reuben in franschhoek wine valley. there is a dining hall and open area. one page menu. tried creamy chicken and prawn curry carrot sambal tempura veg on bed of saffron rice. miso glazed corn on the cob. salted caramel tart with white chocolate ice cream.greatfood vfm excellent. relaxed ambience as you would expect in sa. fantastic afternoon because of food where taste was the king

we stayed over in franschoek for a night and decided to wander down the main street to see and decide which of the different restaurants we'd try for dinner. we found reuben's and decided to try it out. we had agreatexperience - the atmosphere was warm and inviting and the starters were simple but very sophisticated. the mains were interesting, especially the tempura vegetables that accompanied the chicken and prawn curry. overall, despite the slightly distant nature of the waitors, i'd recommend anyone try reuben's one night for dinner when you're in franschoek.

great setting with views of the mountains, the decor wasgreatas was the service. my fillet was cooked perfectly and very flavoursome. the springbok was tender and excellent.

had an amazing dinner last night. second time at reuben's and will go again. the service wasgreatand the food excellent! the waitress chose our wine to go with the lamb shank and it was perfect and the dessert was delicious.

reubens is a must stop for my wife and i when we travel to franschhoek. over the years it has never disappointed and has always been agreatfood experience. can honestly say that everything on the menu is amazing. the sommelier completes the dinning experience.

i had a fabulous dinner here over the weekend. delicious and beautifully presented food,greatservice and comfy chairs i might add. i enjoyed a chicken liver parfait for starters - the portion size was bigger than i expected, (far more than i could have eaten) but it was very tasty. my main was the pork belly which was fantastic. another highlight of the evening was being allowed a quick peek into the kitchen after service and meeting chef reuben himself! everyone at the table enjoyed their meals with lots of clean plates going back to the kitchen. i hope to go back!

we had a fantastic lunch at reuben's in the cute courtyard. the food was magical, all the flavours worked really well. the chicken liver parfait was amazing. the wait staff weregreatand just the right amount of attention. so glad we got to experience such a wonderful lunch.

was quite fortunate to walk past and ask for a table and they had one! the food wasgreatbut found the pork belly a tad too sweet but everything we tried was great! highly recommended

it has probably been about 10years since i last dined at this restaurant, it wasgreatthen and is was even more amazing now. celebrating the wedding anniversary of our parents at this restaurant made it even more special.
the service was great, always someone to look after us. food was phenomenal, especially the creme brulee, nothing will ever compare. all and all awesome experience that we will remember.

all up an exceptional experience! the restaurant is warm and friendly, as are the staff. the dc3 dakota wing bar is agreatbreak from the norm and an interesting approach to one's welcome entrance through the bar area. the staff are always around but not in the way. starting with oysters served on cold stones and salted squid, aet the tone for the evening. we could not have asked for more or a better entrée - both dishes were faultless. mains was the signature pork bellies and a kingklip. again, both dishes surpassed any expectation and we were left reflecting on the high standard that reuben's maintains. cannot wait to return!

i often hear mixed reviews about reubens but when i have visited i always have a nice time.
the vibe of the restaurant isgreatand the service is friendly however it can be a little slow when busy.
i always struggle to choose between reuben's pork belly or the duck - both of which are superb. casual french dining in its most relaxed and accessible form. it might be expensive but don't expect fine dining.

visited reuben's when it was lesser known a few years ago and have fond memories.. but the standard has not been maintained. i think the chef is benefiting from his now famous name and maybe not spending enough time in the kitchen? all in all a pleasant experience but unspectacular bar thegreatdeserts (salty caramel tarte and creme brullee). good starters and boring and dry main course (tuna). nice setting under the tree in the courtyard. friendly staff. good wine list. still a good place to eat but a lot of competition in that neighbourhood and not as good as it could be...

i have eaten at reuben's quite a few times over the last couple of times and have never been disappointed. delicious food,greatwines, lovely atmosphere (even when dining on your own) plus the plating and presentation is beautiful. they also have amazing coffee!
