they get a lot right. aside from the grumpy guy taking orders who only smiles to 08ers, thisplaceis steadily becoming one of my favorite lunch spots. the food is prepared with care and they seem to understand their audience. good chicken salad, great tea, cookies and mud cake are perfect, and the meats are choice. but, i particularly like how they make a blt. so many places seem to mess up something so simple. regina's uses quality bacon that is typically crispy. it's also family-friendly and the paint-by-numbers on the walls are fun to look at.

i'm always up to trying out new places, especially if i've heard rave reviews from friends and co-workers. regina's kitchen have had it's far share. located on government blvd near the loop, regina's is really popular with the 9 to 5 crowd. i thought by hitting up theplaceon a saturday there would be less of wait. boy, was i wrong but the food was worth it. 1/4 muffaleta and pasta salad regina's first got on my radar while i was searching for a good muffaleta. it can be quite hard to find anything outside of new orleans that compare. regina's muffaleta is quite simply delicious, but not quite authentic. first, i want to say i only ordered the quarter muffaleta with a side of pasta salad. it was only about $5 and was plenty to fill an average appetite. the bread is layered first with ham, homemade olive salad, salami and then provolone and swiss cheese. it was a very flavorful sandwich. the olive salad was not too salty and did not overwhelm the flavors of the ham and salami. my only

greatplacefor lunch!!!. excellent reuban. muffuletta rivals anything you'll find in nola (and that's a strong statement). soups change daily. every once in a while the special will be a hot lunch. the chicken pot pie has no equal. you're in luck if you show up on red beans and rice day, as it is loaded with sausage and ham. theplacecan get crowded in a hurry at the lunch hour. get there early.

dont listen to delish. i had the opportunity to try a french dip at regina's kitchen last week and it was great. i found the atmosphere very relaxing and warm. i would highly recommend thisplaceto everyone.

with regard to delish, you went to a brand new family owned restaurant on the 3rd day they were open and the owner gave you a weird look? could it have been stress? good thing you are not one to use the race card too quickly or you might have hurt yourself jumping to a conclusion. i don't know the folks that own regina's but i always find it a shame to see someone loosely throw out an accusation at a small business owner without having any real proof. it takes a lot of work, guts, money and commitment to open a business and i douby very seriously they would offend any customer on purpose. maybe you should chalk it up to stress and give them a second try. i bet you would welcome one if you had your neck on the line.

overpriced.....and more. first i wanna say that the name of thisplaceis misleading. when you see the word "kitchen" in a restaurant name, you might think "oh, they serve hearty, plated food". not. they have sandwiches, salads, and soups, which is perfect for lunch or a light meal.

a co-worker and i thought we'd try thisplaceout a few weeks ago since we work in the area, within walking distance. we're also familiar with the location because best of new orleans french market cafe used to be in the same space before they went bankrupt and closed down. regina's kitchen opened on a tuesday and we ordered food that thursday. we called in our order b/c we only get 30 minutes for lunch. so we walk in (the space is not very big, but cozy) and there are people sitting at the tables and chatting, enjoying their food. we go to the counter/register and there are a couple of ladies in front of us, but off to the side, paying for an order. there was a short, old guy behind the register who didn't even acknowledge us as we stood there waiting. no "hello, how are ya'll" or " i'll be right with you" or anything. he finishes their transaction then just looks up at us. my co-worker gives her name and states that we need to pick up a call-in order. he puts our bagged order on the counter and my co-worker hands him her debit card to pay. she put the card in his hand. when he is done with the card he put it on the counter beside the terminal to where she has to reach over and pick it up. very rude, but i guess you had to see it. so as this is happening, the owner comes out of the back carrying a large container. i glance up at her and she is giving us a very nasty look which surprises me. but when she saw that i was looking back at her, she quickly changed her demeanor to try to say something polite. and i'm usually the last one to accuse someone of prejudice or racism, but that look she had on her face is the main reason we haven't been back to this place.

now on to the food, which is the other reason we haven' t been back. we both ordered sandwiches that come with a bag of chips and a skimpy pickle spear. i had a reuben that tasted ok but the bread had been grilled with too much oil. i squeezed a piece of it and oil dripped out. seriously. and the amount of meat was just ok. my order cost 7.50 which seems a bit much for what i got, and by that i mean there are much better sandwich places in mobile that serve better quality sandwiches and sides, and not just sandwiches you can make at home.
