regatta on avon

we have just been there today mothers day, with my hubby's mum and dad and my mum. the 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed ourmealsand the service. the 2 mums had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. hubby had the burger, father-inlaw had the big brekky and i had the pulled pork bun with fries. absolutely delicious!. hubby and mum both had the lemon and berry cake which i had a taste of and it melted in my mouth. coffee was great although just warm which is my only negative. can't wait to go there again as the prices were reasonable.

my partner and i had a booking for saturday 10 may 2014. we loved the decor and the service was great, really friendly waitress and we didn't have to wait long for our meal but we were very disappointed with ourmealsunfortunately. wondered if we were just a bit unlucky with our dishes? i had rib eye steak, which was far too rare and very hard to cut and had lots of gristle. it was my worst steak ever. my partner had a rice dish and didnt enjoy the sauce it was with.

will will come back but next time we will only have a drink.

i have been here many times for the $12 special and it is my favourite.

the staff are extremely pleasant and polite and ask you during and after you meal if all is okay

the meal is presented beautiful, i was not sure what to expect for $12 but it looks more like $$$$ lunch ! presentation makes you enjoy it all the more.

i have tried 3 of the $12 menu selection and not once have i been disappointed. well done to makingmealsaffordable in such a lovely location with excellent staff.

we dined here today 03/03/2015 as a pre - wedding lunch, there were 5 adults, from the moment we walked in, it was a disgusting atmosphere.  as we were all hungry we decided to give it a go, despite the spiteful looks.  we were given a chance to order drinks (which took forever to come out), and ordered our meals... took almost an hour for ourmealsto come out, and when they did, my fiance's steak was cold!!! disgusting service when one waitress is told off by another in front of us, at our table.  as a worker in chch hospo, i will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone.  i now know not to ever go there again. as 3 of our group are from out of town, they were disappointed, and a terrible way to start their holiday for our wedding .

lunchtime.
great decor - greys. loved the comfortable leather like chairs. soft and very comfortable - wanted to stay all day. bar like atmosphere but definitely a restaurant feel. outdoor seating is available - however the rain tumbled down and the guests outside dashed inside.
$12 lunch menu. a good selection. bit thin for vegetarians, i only noticed 1 choice today as the pasta had bacon.
i had the roast of the day. pork. well presented on a white plate. succulent meat, stuffing, little baked potatoes and pumpkins, peas,carrots, broccoli and zucchini. pork crackling and gravy. great presentation. time from ordering to the table was 20 minutes. my only complaint is there was only one slice of meat., but this is being picky. loved it.
wait staff - dressed in black uniforms. service was a bit haphazard. shown to our table and the girl said she would give us time to look at the menu and would come back. no sooner had she gone, another female waitress came and asked for drink orders- the original girl never came back. pointers here - please present themealsto the customers and not to the side of the diners so they have to position the meal. a customary 'enjoy' would be welcomed. she did come back and check if everything was ok - which was great to see. bit quick to move everything away - which is good - but made me feel i had to leave. could have stayed longer - moving to a booth and let the afternoon pass by. just felt rushed. 
great spot - great building, surrounded by trees and the flowing of the avon river.
parking is $3.10 an hour around the area on meters - but find a parking centre for $2 an hour. :-). i did short walk.

went last sunday. took 1 hour to get ourmealsand we were compensated with a free drink. themealswere fine i like steak blood rare and had the tbone which isn't the best option of steak for that, but it was good anyway. the service was good. although having a waitress complain about covering a shift that wasn't hers and couldn't wait to leave was a little below par. we decided to go again today and had a platter. considering it wasn't busy it took a while. when the platter arrived. it was all deep fried food. but there was lots of it. the chicken pieces that went with the platter arrived a little later. and excuse me but blood running out of the chicken tells me it's a little uncooked. i returned it to the bar. the waitress asked if we wanted a replacement. but we declined. she also said the chef said the chicken was "on the
edge". don't think so! anyway. great location and surrounds. would go back for a drink. but will not dine there again.
