sad service; willing to give it a second shot because of that bbq sauce. thisplacewas highly recommended by a friend of mine, so the next time we were in the area we knew we had to hit it up. now as a caveat to this review, we were there at 8 pm on a sunday night, so i understand that the food was not going to be absolutely amazing and with that in mind--i really liked the sweet barbecue sauce it was very tangy and like honey and as someone who can't stand even the smallest amount of heat it was exactly what i was looking for. the potato salad was a touch on the vinegary side, but potato salad is one of those things where each persons preferences and personal history fall so much into the taste that my opinion can be construed as entirely biased. the corn pudding was a little sweet, but fairly decent. the pulled pork was a little heavy on the gristle, which i am not a fan of, but i think if we had come earlier we would have had a better pork selection.
that said, a friend of mine ordered an oktoberfest beer and it was skunky and off. they wouldn't let him return his drink unless he paid for the replacement. the waitress was sweet if a little bit flighty, but again, sunday night right before closing. i got the impression that this would've been an amazingplaceto eat saturday for lunch and i would definitely try it again.
for the wonderful review it had, i was slightly underwhelmed.
