terrible is the word. terrible food, terrible service and extremely average ambience. in a mood for a nice hearty punjabi meal, i ordered butterchicken, butter naan, lassi and mattha. after waiting for a good 25-30 minutes in a dark poorly lit room, with no other sign of human life except a couple of waiters, came the food. the butter chicken? well that had to be a misnomer for these people or they suffer from some serious delusion where butterchickenrefers to shredded pureèd elements of bird meat, in a far from buttery gravy with specks of coriander and oodles of oil. it seemed like the leftovers of leftovers. when asked if that is how it is supposed to be, the waiters justified it being 'tandoori chicken' and hence the appearance. the butter naan? thick as hell but okay lets cut them some slack here. where we cannot cut any slack, whatsoever, is the lassi. the curd was sour to the limit that a bacteriologist could see bacteria with the naked eye, i swear to god. it smelled, nowhere near to sweet and had the most noxious aftertaste. it is amazing that the chef had the guts to put something like that on the table.
if a restaurant claims to be a mughlai restaurant and still eff up butter chicken, trust me, they should stop calling themselves a restaurant.
bottomline is, the once 'golden' oak has lost its sheen and shine and needs serious polishing before it tries serving decent food.
