when i visited ramen dojo, the place was super super crowded. they are very popular in the area no doubt, however that can make the overall experience a little inconvenient sometimes when there is not much time to enjoy your meal. it’s like a dine in -fast food concept for ramen. the ramen is brilliant though. this place is pretty pricey too.

ramen dojo: ramen that melts in my mouth. like some ramen parlors, you build your ramen the way you like - pick a soup base, the level of spiciness, and whether or not you want extra toppings on top of the ones you get by default.

my ramen was incredible, and it seems like it melted in my mouth. it warmed up my tummy on a cold winter day.

did i mention, that the line is ridiculously long? so long that my friends and i decided to go there an hour before it opened for the day. we waited right by the door, so that we would be the first ones in. this would be okay and not insane if it was not some 40 degrees outside.. yeah, we were dedicated to getting our ramen. however, be prepared to dine quick, as they need to turn their tables fast. it's definitely not a place to sit and catch up with an old friend over some good food.

i really do want to come back for the ramen, but i'm not too keen on waiting in line for a whole hour again. i'll think about it.

food: 💛💛💛💛
price: 💸

northern california july 23, 2014 leave a comment karen and i were up north for a wedding.  before leaving san mateo we were meeting up with my cousin and my goddaughter for lunch.  we had originally planned to go to the ramen festival in san francisco but it was a little further out and we figured it might be crowded so we decided on a ramen dojo in san mateo.  good reviews on yelp so here we went.  my cousins got there before us and informed us that they were in line.  as we drove by looking for parking we gazed upon a rather substantial line that wrapped around the corner of the block.  thought that was a pretty good sign.  the little shop only accommodates 24 (i think?) so it may take a while to get in there.  the good thing is that while you are waiting in line and since they already take your names down they will come out and take your pre-order so that when you go in you are ready to go in 5 minutes.  that is a great idea and a good way to manage a long line with small space.  o

we were so lucky to be stayin in san mateo because we were able to check out so many restaurants especially this ramen dojo. we got here when they opened on a saturday morning and the line was halfway down the block!! i told joe if we didn’t get into the restaurant within half an hour of opening time, that we should look at other options. the guy in front of us in line told us that as long as we were before the tree, we would definitely get seated with the first wave of customers. we got the last table! woo! thank you asian guy who eats here often! pork flavor ramen w extra quail eggs we thought about getting different ramen bowls to make ours look different but joe didn’t like the idea of coordinating our restaurant visit around the blog (when it should be the other way around). we both ordered the garlic pork flavored soup base which comes with 2 pieces of roasted pork, fried whole garlic, kikurage mushroom, fresh green chives, 1 quail

posted by eddangel on february 24th, 2012 ramen dojo!! after hearing about this place for over a year and having a hard time convincing the other half to wait 45 minutes for a bowl of ramen (and driving 30 minutes to get there); we got there at about 10.50 am (they open at 11.30 am) on a monday morning and there was already a few people waiting in line. by the time they opened, the line has grown to about 30 people!! the restaurant is tiny!! doesnt seem to seat more than 25 diners at a time.

my latest ramen encounter was with ramen dojo, which opened last year in the original san mateo location of santa ramen . in fact, they're the same owners. but ramen dojo isn't just a second location of santa ramen, it's a distinctive ramen shop specializing in spicy ramen, also known as "stamina" ramen supposedly eaten by sumo wrestlers training in a dojo.

finally. a good ramen place in the bay area! i love ramen and ramen dojo never disappoints. the soup is hearty so i only treat myself to this place (and all ramen places) once in a long while. needless to say, this is my go-to ramen place. parking is easy and the wait is bearable and worth it.

even though i'd just stuffed myself with ramen a few days earlier, that wasn't going to keep me from eating some more. this time, i was outside of the city, at ramen dojo, in san mateo. this place is

what i could never figure out, is whether stamina ramen is supposed to give you extra energy or was it that it required extra stamina to finish the bowl?

ramen dojo recently opened in san mateo at legendary santa ramen’s original location, no doubt hoping to capture some of its good karma. in fact it’s owned by the same people. they focus on spicy ramen, specifically sutamina ramen (aka stamina ramen) that
