i was doing a walk around of the area and found this gem for lunch. i order up a sandwich and hunkered down to watch the chefs make the food. when my food arrived, it was well balanced and delicious! the meats are treated properly and with great care here. if you want a unique sandwich, with is yummy and the ingredients are well thought out, you need to come here.

an amtrak train trip gave me the perfect excuse to finally visit rain shadow meats in pioneer square. this full-service butchery is very impressive, with gorgeous cuts of locally raised meats.

great deli!. we stopped in at rain shadow meats on our way to a mariners game this weekend. originally, we were going to stay and eat our meal but changed our mind a the last second and decided to take the food to go. our server was very accommodating even though we changed directions so quickly.
we loved the white bean, pesto and duck confit salad.
the rain shadow press sandwich had a lot going on. lots of tastes that went well together.
i would recommend that you go here to eat..
(pictures of this visit are posted.)

delicious!. stopped in for a lunch bite while strolling through pioneer square. the exquisite aromas wafting out the door grab your attention and draw you in. once inside, a funky butcher shop/charcuterie & casual restaurant. nice decor with lots of brick and wood. staff friendly & knowledgeable. we had the butchers salad & asked our waiter to put together a selection of meats & cheeses for us to try. all was very good. the flavours in the home made charcuterie are oustanding. portion sizes good and prices very reasonable. a great spot we will return to.

meaty lunch. after the coffee crawl in seattle last week, monday july 14, we followed ed, the coffee guy's recommendation to lunch here. cool ambiance, hearty fare. i had the choripan, which was filled with spanish chorizo and served with a colorful slaw.

the c.l.t. (chicken, lettuce, tesa) is served on ciabatta, crisp and golden brown on the exterior and tender in the interior. tender large shreds of roasted big bluff ranch chicken are lightly and i mean lightly dressed in oil and tossed with capers and italian parsley. the chicken alone on this sandwich is worth the price of admission. it's so tender and yielding with that great whole-roasted chicken flavor. i'm hungry all over again, just typing those words! yum!! arrange on top of that delicious mound of uber-poultry are two strips of crispy panchetta de tesa providing all its salty, porcine goodness to the party. above that is slice of creamy, mellow harvarti cheese. the c.l.t. is finished off with a crispy leaf of romaine and a light smear of dill cream sauce and the top half of the ciabatta. each component is in harmony with the other. no single element of this sandwich overwhelms any others. russ is very attentive and highly meticulous when he constructs these sandwich

heard much about rain shadow meats squared  at pioneer square serving food and i brought my meat-loving father there. i first saw them in capitol hill’s melrose market and bought some pork rillet from their meat counter, and was very happy with my purchase. we had a cured meat plate to share. most of the pates and rillets were house-made along with the mortadella. the speck was dry, chewy, smoky and peppery with light salt. the best part was the fat that completely enhanced the smoky flavor...

and all it takes from you is to seek out some of these places and eat some terrific food. you vote with your dollars and if you're continually hitting up jimmy johns or subway, then that's what you're going to get - more jimmy johns and subways. but you won't get even a fraction of the flavor that you'd from the sandwiches at rain shadow. the rain shadow press (above) will make your day! roast beef, mortadella, soppressatta, provolone, pickled peppers, cucumbers and arugula on crispy ciabatta is light years beyond those italian-style subs, both in texture and in flavor, than you'd get at those other places. of course, there's much more available than just sandwiches. there's a terrific charcuterie plate featuring pork terrine, pork liver mousse, chicken liver mousse and some olympic provisions cured sausages. it's a great range of cured and prepared meats. the chicken liver mousse was especially smooth and delectable.
